MELDRICK TAYLOR MOVIE “TWO SECONDS FROM GLORY” IN THE WORKS

From the time he wrote down on a dresser drawer as an eight year old child that he would become a world champion, Meldrick Taylor had only one goal.
From being a prized amateur and a 1984 Olympic Gold Medal winner and then in 1988 finally realizing his dream when he knocked out Buddy McGirt to become the IBF Jr. Welterweight champion, Taylor wasn’t done.
After making two defenses, Taylor then took on his greatest challenge against then 68-0 future legend Julio Cesar Chavez.
Taylor went in as a big underdog but dominated the bout until he was controversially stopped just two seconds before the end of the fight.
Now, along with Taylor’s business partner Damon Feldman, a movie that will chronicle the life of Taylor is being shopped throughout Hollywood.
The working title is “Two Seconds from Glory”, an obvious reference to the memorable fight with Chavez.
“I am in talks with a few companies now, this is the Next Big Boxing movie, “says Damon Feldman.

“The feedback has been tremendous and we have reached out to a few A-list actors who we feel would be perfect for the movie.  They all have shown a great amount of interest.  There are so many actors who are big boxing fans and a couple in particular know Meldrick’s story very well and when they were presented the script, they were very interested.  We promise it will be a tremendous movie with some big name actors taking part in the film”

Taylor will be signing copies of his book TONIGHT at the Deck in Essington as part of his promotional company “Champions of Tomorrow” presents its 2nd fight card

TRAVIS KAUFFMAN TO TAKE ON ARRON LYONS ON AUGUST 23RD AT THE VALLEY FORGE CASINO RESORT

On Friday night, August 23rd, WBA #13 ranked Heavyweight Travis Kauffman will take on upset minded Arron Lyons in an eight round co-feature at the Valley Forge Casino Resort.
The show which is promoted by Kings Boxing will be headlined by a ten round Pennsylvania Lightweight championship bout between undefeated champion Naim Nelson (10-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia defending his title against Ryan Belasco (18-5-3, 3 KO’s) of Wilmingtin, Delaware in a bout scheduled for ten rounds.
Kauffman of Reading, PA has a record of 24-1 with 18 knockouts and the former amateur star won his first eighteen bouts with big wins over Malachy Farrell and William Shahan.
After suffering his only blemish which was a controversial loss to Tony Grano, Kauffman has won six in a row which includes wins over Chris Koval and his last bout when he took out Willie Perryman in one round on February 15th.
“I don’t much on Lyons except that he is durable and goes rounds and he has upset some guys like Joey Abell”, said Kauffman.
“I am not just going in there to knock people out and on August 23rd I am looking for a stellar performance”.
“I know now that I am ranked every fight is a steppingstone and I know I have to dominate Lyons.”
Kauffman knows that being world ranked, that a big fight could be near.
“Whatever is in the future, let it be”
Kauffman is ready to fight anyone at the top of the division, but circumstances have prevented him from taking that defining figjt.
“I was called to fight Tomasz Adamek but they took Dominick Guinn.  Adamek is a hell of a fighter but I feel I can beat him.  I was offered a fight with undefeated WBA #2 ranked Luis Ortiz but it was only four weeks’ notice for very short money.  This is a business and the risk outweighed the reward.  I am taking this one day at a time, I have had injuries problems such as three hand surgeries, and ankle and shoulder problems but now I am completely healthy and ready to look to big things in my future”
Lyons of Gulfport, Mississippi has a record of 12-12-1 with nine knockouts and has the aforementioned win over Abell plus two wins over Gabe Brown and a win over Lenroy Thomas.
Lyons has also been in the ring with Charles Ellis, Eugene Hill, Johnnie White, Damian Wills, Luis Ortiz and Kelvin Price.
The rest of the card is as follows:
Frankie De Alba (8-1-2, 3 KO’s) of Reading, PA via Bayamon, PR will take on an opponent to be named in a six round Super Featherweight bout.
Miguel Cartagena (7-0, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on Miguel Eduardo  in a four round Bantamweight bout.
In four round bouts:
Lamont Capers (1-2) of Hawley, PA will battle Kamarah Pasley (6-6, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia in a Cruiserweight fight.
Gerald Smith (3-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia, PA will take on an opponent to be named in a Lightweight bout.
