MAYWEATHER VS. PACQUIAO IS ON! MEGA-FIGHT IS GOING DOWN FOR REAL ON MAY 2 AT THE MGM GRAND || FIGHTHYPE.COM

Now it's official! After years of back-and-forth negotiations, the wait is finally over! Undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao have both put pen to paper to finalize their long-awaited showdown. As expected, the bout will take place on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

While details of all the terms have yet to be revealed, we do know that the bout will be contested at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds with the use of 8 oz. gloves. Furthermore, as has been the case for Mayweather's last seven fights, random blood and urine testing will be conducted by the United States Anti-Doping Agency [USADA].

We could bore you with a brief history of what got us to this point, but do you really care? The only thing that matters is.....IT'S ON!

Mayweather officially announced the fight on his social network app, Shots, by posting an image of the contract signed by both fighters. A press release with more information should follow soon.

FOX SPORTS REACHES MULTI-MEDIA RIGHTS EXTENSION WITH GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS New Agreement Provides Live Boxing for Multiple Domestic & International Outlets, Including FOX Sports 1 & FOX Deportes

FOX Sports and Golden Boy Promotions, founded by 10-time World Champion Oscar De La Hoya, have reached a multi-media rights extension to televise exciting live boxing in the United States and internationally. The new multi-year agreement keeps Golden Boy Promotions' bouts with FOX Sports for years to come, and helps establish a new Monday night boxing franchise on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), FOX Sports' new, national multi-sport cable channel launching on Aug. 17. Financial terms were not disclosed.
"When we started Golden Boy, we made a promise to only do business with the best companies out there," said De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. "To be partnered with FOX on this sensational series is a great fit. We look forward to working with FOX Sports 1 for years to come in giving fans the best boxing matches available."
"Led by the dynamic Oscar De La Hoya and its Chief Executive Officer
Richard Schaefer, Golden Boy Promotions has developed a great reputation over the last several years for putting together exciting cards with top-flight fighters," said Patrick Crakes, Senior Vice President, Programming & Research, FOX Sports.  "It's great that we've been able to build upon and expand what has already been a fruitful relationship that benefits multiple networks in the FOX Sports family, domestically and internationally."
Under the new agreement FOX Sports retains exclusive domestic rights to 48 live two-hour events (featuring two or three fights per event) annually with many of Golden Boy Promotions' brightest stars expected to be featured. FS1 is scheduling 24 live events per year, with FOX Deportes, the nation's leading Spanish-language sports network, airing all 48 events live, an increase from 36 in the previous deal. The 24 events on FS1 will all originate in the U.S., and most are expected to run on Monday nights once the network launches. FOX Deportes will simulcast the same 24 events as FS1 in Spanish, plus air 24 others that originate from Mexico. Once events air on FS1, each will be available for encore presentations on FOX Sports regional networks. Fox International Channels also holds exclusive rights to all 48 live fights in the Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe (excluding the U.K.) and Middle East territories. Finally, all events will be available via authenticated streaming through FOX Sports Go.

"We are thrilled to partner with FOX as the boxing provider for FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes," added Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer. "For years, the best of boxing has been available primarily on premium cable and pay-per-view only, but our partnership with FOX Sports signifies a major step-up in exposure for the fighter, Golden Boy Promotions and the entire sport. We are confident that with our mix of world class fights and fighters combined with the reach and promotional capacities that FOX Sports provides, the sky is really the limit for us all."
In addition to Golden Boy's live events, all FOX Sports channels have access to 24 classic archived events from the promoter's extensive library. Archive fights feature many of boxing biggest names, including De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley.

Bradley vs. Provodnikov takes place on Saturday, March 16

BOXING TONITE; Bradley vs. Provodnikov takes place on Saturday, March 16, under the stars at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., and is promoted by Top Rank®, in association with Banner Promotions and Tecate.  Timothy Bradley has been a world champion since 2008, first as a junior welterweight, where he twice unified the titles, and now as a welterweight.  Timothy will be making the first defense of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title he won by beating Manny Pacquiao last summer.  The bout will be broadcast live on HBO World Championship Boxing®, beginning at 10:15 P.M. ET / PT.
TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  I want to thank Top Rank, Cameron Dunkin, my wife and my team, The Home Dept Center and HBO.  Training camp has been going well and I am 100%.  I can’t wait to get into the ring on the 16th.  It is a big challenge and I am excited about it.   I know Ruslan Provodnikov is a tough guy and is going to bring the fight to me.  I am confident I am going to get the job done and I am going to be victorious once again.

TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  Every fight from here on out is a statement fight, especially coming after the Pacquiao fight.  I am looking to make a statement in this fight and I am looking to damage this guy.  I am looking to put this guy out.  I don’t want to go 12 rounds with this guy.  The longer he stays around the more confident he will get so I want to get him out of there as soon as possible.
How does Provodnikov match in power with others you have fought?
TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  I don’t know about his knockout power.  I’m not worried about his power.  He needs to worry about my power.  I am not worried about anything he is going to bring.  He is going to stand in the middle of the ring.  I know exactly how to beat this guy – outbox him.  Provodnikov has to worry about me, I am not worried about him.
How are you at 147?
TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  The speed is still there and the power will be there.  In camp we have been working on a lot of techniques and turning over my shots and making them harder and more effective.  The sparring partners are asking what am I doing differently because my shots are a lot harder now.
One of your sparring partners beat Ruslan?  Have you spoken to him about that fight?
TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  Mauricio [Herrera], he’s a tough cookie.  He always comes in great shape and has good defense.  We sparred yesterday.  He told me “you come to fight, every single day,” and he makes me work hard.  He told me don’t exchange with him.  He will apply pressure the whole fight but it is smart pressure.  He is going to eat a lot of shots but will always be in front of your face.
How as your life changed since the Pacquiao fight?
TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  The Pacquiao made me grow as a person and as a fighter and it made me realize who was important and who was not important and what is important in my career.  What is not important is what people’s perception of me is.  Everyone has an opinion and they can say whatever they want to say but it’s not going to stop me from what I do and that’s kick but in the ring.  What’s important is my family and I pay attention to my career and stop worrying about everyone else’s career and what they are making.  I just need to focus on my career and my life.  Stop reading all this garbage that all these people are writing about me.  I stopped reading columns  - I used to read it all the time now I don’t read it at all.
What were the things that upset you the most?
TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  I don’t get any credit after the Pacquiao fight, whatsoever.   People talk about me, my style, that I’m boring.  Some people talk about my wife, my kids.  People sent me death threats after the fight because I won undeservingly.  I should have given the belt back.  A lot of different things went on.  I can talk all day about things that people said about me.  But it doesn’t matter – none of these people are going to get in the ring with me.  People can say whatever they want – it is a free country – so I am going to say whatever I want, when I want to say it and how I want to say it.  Those people don’t know me at all.  If you get to know me, if you know what I go through, how I train and you still talk crap about me, then you have the problem.  No one knows what I go through to prepare for my fights. People need to sell papers I guess.  I am the nicest guy you will ever meet on the street, ever.
How did you get death threats?
TIMOTHY BRADLEY JR:  Mail and phone calls.  I didn’t report anything.  I am in my house and nobody will mess with me when I’m in my house.  I didn’t really take them seriously.  People were mad but I didn’t think they would come to my house and take me out I don’t think that would ever happen

RUSLAN PROVODNIKOV:  I think everything is going to be fine.  The training camp is great and I feel great at 147.  I do weigh a little more and it is easier now than it normally is at this time two weeks out.
Do you plan to stay at 147 or go back down?
RUSLAN PROVODNIKOV: I don’t know what my plans are going to be after this fight.  Realistically I have always been waiting for a fight against Tim Bradley and I would have taken the fight with him at 140 or 147.  I think I can beat him at any weight class.
FREDDIE ROACH:  Ruslan is a very good 147-pounder who happens to be able to make 140.    147 is easier to make but it is still no walk in the park.  We have to watch his diet.  He weighs about 153 right now so he is in striking distance.  He feels pretty strong at the weight and I think he will be a better puncher at the weight.  I like him at 147 more than I like him at 140.
How many fights have you been his trainer?
FREDDIE ROACH:  I have trained him the last three fights, I just haven’t been able to get to the fight with him because of conflicts with Pacquiao and other fighters.  I had my friend and assistant Eric Brown help me out a bit and he did a great job.  Right now everything is falling into place and I’ll be in the corner this time also.  (fourth fight in camp, first fight in corner).
How do you feel about the possibility of Ruslan getting the win against Bradley where Manny didn’t?
FREDDIE ROACH:  I never really think about that.  I keep them separated.  What happened, happened and there is nothing we an do about it.  This is a big fight for Ruslan – the biggest fight of his life.  It is a great opportunity and I’m happy he has the opportunity.  I always thought he was stronger and the bigger puncher of the two.  I love his chances to win by knockout.
MATT ROWLAND:  Ruslan is taking this fight because it is the biggest fight we could make.   He is fighting Tim Bradley who has only fought welterweight twice.  So we are not dealing with a big welterweight and he wasn’t a big puncher at 140 so he shouldn’t be a big puncher at 147, so weight will definitely not be an issue.
Bradley is using a sparring partner that beat Provodnikov…
FREDDIE ROACH:  I think he is a different fighter than the one that lost.  I think it is a smart thing for them to do.  We got the best sparring partners we could to emulate Bradley.  We spent a lot of money going out and getting the right guys and they did the same thing.  The thing is when they get in the ring at match up on fight night it won’t be anything like the sparring.  That’s how you get ready for big fights.
RUSLAN PROVODNIKOV: I heard that Bradley is using Herrera for sparring but they don’t know what kind of preparations I had for that fight or what kind of trainer I had.  My training camp now is completely different and I don’t think I lost that fight anyway.  I have been improving and with my new trainer and strength-and-conditioning coach [Gavin MacMillan] working with me and I going to be even more different than I was in the last couple of fights.

"BRADLEY IS GOING TO RUN FROM RUSLAN JUST LIKE HE DID AGAINST MANNY."- Freddie Roach‏

Hall of Fame trainer FREDDIE ROACH and No. 3 world-rated welterweight contender RUSLAN PROVODNIKOV took time out of training camp, at Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, to discuss their upcoming challenge of undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, Jr. The Bradley vs. Provodnikov WBO welterweight championship will take place,Saturday, March 16 at The Home Depot Center and will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing®beginning at 10:15 p.m. ET/PT.
"We are having an outstanding camp," said Roach. "Ruslan has given me everything I have asked for in training. The fact that Ruslan has been Manny Pacquiao's lead sparring partner his past two camps has given Ruslan an outstanding foundation from which to work. When Manny was preparing to defend his title against Bradley last spring I said any of Manny's sparring partners could beat Bradley. Ruslan will to prove that on March 16.
"I've heard Bradley say he's going to take the fight to Ruslan. He said the same thing before his fight with Manny. And when he feels Ruslan's power, like when he felt Manny's, it's going to be a remake of Forrest Gump. 'Run, Timmy, run!'This isn't about Ruslan finishing what Manny started. It's about duplicating it."
"I'm very happy and very satisfied with everything I have been doing with Freddie," said Provodinkov (22-1, 15 KOs), a native of Siberia. The two-fisted Russian buzzsaw enters this fight riding a five-bout winning streak with four of those victories coming by way of knockout. "I know my fans have seen me on ESPN Friday Night Fights fighting a certain way, but on March 16, they will see a different Ruslan inside the ring. My work with conditioning coach Gavin MacMillan has made me stronger and faster and my endurance is tremendous. I have never felt so good."

Floyd Mayweather vs Miguel Cotto Generated Massive Spikes in Google

According to the revenue generated for the jr middleweight title bout between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto last month and analytics data from Google for the same event, the answer is a resounding 'No.'

Google Insights, which provides a representation of regional and international interests based on user searches for the world's largest search engine, released data that would be reassuring for any boxer, boxing promoter and hardcore fan.

For the month of May 2012, the queries 'mayweather vs cotto' and 'mayweather' represented the third and fourth highest trending sports searches in Google worldwide.

And in the United States, interest in the bout was even stronger. In the same time period, three of nation's top ten trending sports-related queries were related to last month's Floyd Mayweather - Miguel Cotto superfight. Moreover, each of three queries trended higher than search terms for any NBA player or team during the basketball playoffs in May.

The Mayweather vs Cotto fight card, which generated 1.5 million pay-per-view (PPV) buys and a whopping $94 Million USD, was seemingly an all-around success. In the end, Floyd Mayweather lifted the WBA Jr Middleweight title from a very determined Miguel Cotto in an action-packed bout.

In 2011, Mayweather took part in Google's most searched sports event for the entire year in the United States, 'mayweather vs ortiz.' And Floyd's nemesis, Manny Pacquiao, was Google's most queried athlete in the United States during the same period.

Terms Surpassing Mayweather vs Cotto Searches
May's highest trending query internationally and in the United States, 'Junior Seau,' was generated by users seeking details about the shocking apparent suicide of the former NFL football superstar on May 2nd. And internationally, the term 'roland garros' finished second.

Known to many as The French Open, the Roland Garros tennis event is the premier clay court tennis tournament in the world, one of the sport's four annual Grand Slam tournaments and one of the most watched events worldwide. Its participants included Rafael Nadal, currently the world's top male tennis player, and the always-intriguing Maria Sharapova.

The query 'hatfields and mccoys,' cited as the No. 2 sports query in the United States, is believed to be an error. The TV series Hatfields & McCoys, which aired on a US cable station last month, was a highly-promoted drama about famous feuding families of the same name in the United States from 1863-1891.

MANNY PACQUIAO CONFERENCE CALL TRANSCRIPT ALONG WITH TRAINER FREDDIE ROACH AND HALL OF FAME PROMOTER BOB ARUM

MANNY PACQUIAO: Good morning everybody. Training is good and we are getting ready for the fight.

FREDDIE ROACH: We had a really great training camp the first 3 weeks in Baguiao – very successful – and the last 3 weeks here in LA has been great. Manny’s focus is the best I have ever seen. We are going against a tough opponent, a tough undefeated opponent in Bradley. I have watched a lot of tapes on him and have seen a lot of holes in his defense and we are going to take advantage of them.

Is Bradley’s style – leading with his head – a concern to you?

FREDDIE ROACH: Yes, Bradley does come in head first. We have been working on how to nullify that. We have a lefty fighting against a righty. The two heads may clash, that could happen and it’s something we have to be aware of and something we will be prepared for.

What is your take on the way you last fight with Marquez happened?

MANNY PACQUIAO: The fight was not that hard for me but I was having some family problems. I was in 100% physical condition for that fight against Marquez but I did have some family issues that I had to deal with. I also underestimated him.

FREDDIE ROACH: Marquez is always going to give Manny troubles. He is a very good boxer and very smart. We had a great training camp going into that fight but on the last week everything fell apart. The personal problems affected the fight and I don’t think Manny will let that happen again. All of the distractions around him caused him to fight poorly. He is very focused for this fight.

What has been the key to your success in moving up all these weight classes?

MANNY PACQUIAO: The fights are all different. It is not easy to move up in weight but I try my best. I have to work very hard to build up my strength and gain weight. I have to build up my stamina to maintain the added weight while preserving my speed and movement.

FREDDIE ROACH: That’s where the bigger challenges were – the bigger fights. We do have to feed Manny more than 5 protein shakes a day to keep the weight on. He performed very well in those weight classes. Moving up in weight classes was necessary because that’s where the challenges were. We needed to do that to be where he is today. Manny did well and we did it the right way with Alex Ariza with the diet and the protein shakes and it worked out well for all of us.

FACT: When Manny moved from lightweight to welterweight he was taking in up to 8,000 calories a day.

Could you elaborate on Manny’s focus for this fight? FREDDIE ROACH: Yes, his focus is very good. We don’t have days where he comes in tired a so forth because he has no nightlife whatsoever, besides the bible study. He is very focused on the fight. He and God are very close right now and he is just a better athlete – with no distractions – yes.

Were you concerned that the same-sex marriage comments or non-comments would be a distraction?

FREDDIE ROACH: The thing is everyone has an opinion in life and we are all entitled to our opinions, but I see no problem whatsoever. TMZ was outside he gym for a couple of days and we pacified them and that was it.

Do you feel you need to match numbers with Mayweather?

BOB ARUM: We aim to get the biggest possible numbers that we can get. We operate a completely different model from Floyd’s model and whatever numbers he allegedly reached or didn’t reach is really not relevant to us. It varies from fight to fight. The Marquez numbers, from the Manny fight in November, are certainly much greater than Mayweather’s numbers with Ortiz. You also have to realize that Mayweather was fighting one of our great fighters, Miguel Cotto, who is the number 3 PPV attraction, who has gotten great numbers on his own. So you have to factor all of that in.

Did you expect the firestorm over the same-sex marriage statement you made?

MANNY PACQUIAO: Did I know that my answer on legalizing same-sex marriage would create controversy? Yes. It’s a controversial issue. The reporter asked me about my stance on it and I answered his question. I am against legalizing same-sex marriage. That was all I said.

Will your commitment to religion reflect on your fighting in the ring?

MANNY PACQUIAO: When I committed my life to the lord I gave up many things that were not in keeping with what the Bible teaches. Boxing is a job and I do not look at it as anything more than that. It will not affect my job.

FREDDIE ROACH: No, Manny Pacquiao is fired up and ready to go. He is motivated. We have had great workouts and sparring sessions. We had four new sparring partners that came in for this camp. Everything is right where it is supposed to be.

BOB ARUM: From somebody who has visited the training camp a few times, the difference in Manny’s face is so apparent. He’s not as tired as he was and he’s not as worn as he was. There is a glow in his face. I think this religious awakening has been all good on his part. I am a little prejudiced because I am religious myself but I believe when young athletes find religion it will greatly enhance their careers.

Do you think we will see Pacquiao vs. Marquez IV?

BOB ARUM: Everything is on the table. Manny has this fight against Bradley. It’s a tough fight, and after the fight, as we always do, we’ll confer and decide on who the opponent will be and when the fight will take place. I haven’t discussed this with Manny because I never discuss future fights with a fight coming up. We’ll have plenty of time to discuss that and we also have a trip coming up with his family to Israel and we can discuss it then.

What aspect have you been working on to improve?

MANNY PACQUIAO: We work hard and we train hard every day to make sure we have a good fight for the fans on June 9.

FREDDIE ROACH: I have been watching Bradley a lot and he doesn’t rely very much on counter-punching. He is very offensive. He comes to fight which will make it a good fight for everybody. We have the game plan set after watching many, many tapes of Bradley. Manny should have a very good fight on June 9.

As a Congressman, do you come across trash talking?

MANNY PACQUIAO: I do not trash talk in boxing or in politics. I ignore trash talking directed at me. I don’t find it productive.

Are you the toughest public servant on the planet?

FREDDIE ROACH: That’s a stupid question.

MANNY PACQUIAO: It is hard to compare myself to other people.

What does Bradley do particularly well?

FREDDIE ROACH: He comes forward and is very aggressive. He is a well-conditioned athlete and we know we are in for a tough fight. Bradley is a good opponent.

Have you fought anyone strong like him before?

FREDDIE ROACH: No, because he is very strong and very muscular up top. I don’t think we have fought anybody that muscular. We have fought bigger ands stronger people, like Margarito and so forth. We have fought strong guys like him before, yes.

MANNY PACQUIAO: I agree with Freddie.

Do you feel Bradley will be in front of Manny?

FREDDIE ROACH: Yes, he will try to fight Manny. He will try to prove he is the better athlete – the better-conditioned athlete. We have a mover in camp so we are prepared if Bradley decides to move around, so we are prepared for anything he brings. It is my job to figure out what he may do differently. We make adjustments to prepare Manny for whatever may come. He’s ready for a boxer and I’m covering all my bases.

What is Manny’s advantage?

FREDDIE ROACH: Experience, speed and power. Experience is hard to deal with. Power will knock you out. Experience will make it a little easier for you.

MANNY PACQUIAO: Bradley is a different type of fighter and we don’t take this fight lightly. We have trained hard for Bradley because he is the type of fighter we cannot underestimate. Tim Bradley is undefeated and he is a champion.

MANNY PACQUIAO: I don’t know what Tim Bradley will bring in the ring on that night but we will be ready for whatever he brings. I know he will be 100% conditioned for the fight. We have practiced every kind of fight in the ring with four different sparring partners.

BOB ARUM: When you look at Manny’s opponents, the freshest guy he has fought will be Bradley. The others he has fought have been great names like Cotto, Margarito and De La Hoya and Hatton, but Bradley is not a great name but he is a great fighter and young and fresh. When you have a fresh fighter who has not taken a lot of punishment, he can be dangerous. The most important element with Bradley is his mind. He is a very, very determined young man. He is confident in his abilities and determined and that is a tremendous plus for any athlete. He feels as if his mind can take over. Some have doubts in their performance and it shows in up, whether it’s football, boxing or whatever.

It’s been a while since Manny has stopped anyone. Is he still the same fighter?

FREDDIE ROACH: I believe he is a better fighter now. He is more focused. If a knockout comes it will be a bonus. Bradley is a great fighter and he’ll be resilient, but I think you’ll see the best Manny Pacquiao yet.

MANNY PACQUIAO: I am doing my best in training. I stay focused and work hard to give a good fight.

MANNY PACQUIAO: My final words are I would like to invite everybody to watch my fight on June 9. It will be a good fight and there will be a lot of boxing in the ring. Thanks to everyone that was involved in the teleconference today and have a nice day.

BOB ARUM: I would like to see as many of you as possible in Indio on Thursday at Bradley’s workout. There are buses leaving from Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I’ll be there and am anxious to see him train and I know most of you are. I think it’s going to be a great fight – something special. Another thing that is special is the bible study that Manny participates in. Tonight in Manny’s apartment, we are going to shoot the bible study that many has been participating in and make it into a program which we will distribute. When an athlete has a religious experience it is a great thing and I want to show it to as many people as possible.
