Lafayette, Louisiana Native Seeking Third World Title Try, Son of Legend ,Wilford Scypion, defends undefeated knockout record
Kasha Chamblin hasn’t fought since losing a unanimous decision to Ada Velez on November 11th, 2007 for the IBA Super Bantamweight World Championship. The fight was supposed to be a ‘coming out party’ for the attractive Lafayette, Louisiana native and her bringing a world championship to Cajun Country. Velez fought a near perfect fight in defeating the tough, durable, and determined Chamblin.
Saturday night, August 30th, 2008 will be a rematch and a hopeful tune up for Chamblin against Arkansas Keri Hill at Blackham Coliseum in Chamblin’s hometown.
“I want to fight once every month or 6 weeks,” states Chamblin, “as I work my way back into title contention.” Already rated by various boxing sanctioning bodies as a top 15 fighter in the world, Chamblin says she wants that one more shot for a world championship.
Chamblin’s big brown eyes says it all. Deep and penetrating, she looks at everyone with conviction. “I am not going to let anyone down,” she claims. “I want to make Lafayette proud of supporting me.”
Tickets for this MMA/Pro Boxing card entitled COLLISION AT THE COLISEUM 3 can be purchased Southside Bakery and Pete’s Sports Bar on Johnston Street in Lafayette. General admission is $25 and Ringside is $40.
Several MMA fights will be featured along with young prospect Wilford Scypion, Jr in a 4 round boxing match.
Scypion comes with serious power in both hands as a prospect having knocked out all of his 6 opponents by the fourth round.
