JOE SMITH JR. TO TAKE ON YASIN RASHID IN HEADLINING BOUT ON SEPTEMBER 22ND AT RESORTS WORLD CASINO IN QUEENS, NY
On Saturday night September 22nd, a historic night of boxing will take place as the FIRST EVER BOXING EVENT INSIDE A NEW YORK CITY CASINO when New Legend Boxing / Old World Boxing and W.O.N. Boxing Promotions presents a night of boxing featuring some of the best fighters in New York.
In the main event, popular Light Heavyweight Joe Smith Jr. will take on Yasin Rashid in a eight round bout.
Smith, twenty-two years old of Long Island has a record of 10-1 with all wins coming via knockout.
Smith, who turned pro in 2009, won his first six bouts inside of two rounds which included a knockout over undefeated Christopher Dammones. After suffering his lone blemish, Smith has come back by stopping his last four opponents which includes his last outing when he stopped James Denson in under two-minutes on May 17th.
Rashid, thirty-six years old of Brooklyn has a record of 7-2 with two knockouts and has been a pro for eight years.
Rashid won his first seven bouts which included a win over undefeated Kevin Cruz and Frank Mondejar (16-3). Rashid has really stepped it up in his last two bouts but came up a bit short in fights with Will Rosinsky (12-0) and Andy Mejias (9-0).
In the eight round co-feature, sensational Super Bantamweight prospect Juan Dominguez will see action against an opponent to be named.
Dominguez of Brooklyn via the Dominican Republic has been perfect as he sports a record of 10-0 with seven knockouts.
WBC Caribbean Bantamweight champion Elton Dharry (9-5-1, 4 KO’s) out of Queens, NY will take on Gabriel Cruz (4-4-1, 1 KO) of Oceanside, CA in a six round bout.
Appearing in six round bouts against opponents to be determined will be Jr. Middleweight Frank Galarza (7-0, 4 KO’s) of Brooklyn, Jr. Middleweight Captain Boyd Melson (9-1, 4 KO’s) of White Plains, NY as well as Super Featherweight Rafael Vazquez (8-0, 6 KO’s) out of Brooklyn.
Seeing action in four round bouts against opponents to be named will be Featherweight Angel Garcia (2-1, 2 KO’s) of Brooklyn, Featherweight Alan Phelan (0-1) of Queens, New York via Ireland and Vinny Celentano (3-0, 1 KO) of Howard Beach, NY.
The card will also include a four round pro debut Welterweight bout, featuring Daniel Gonzalez of Queens, NY battling Anthony Smith of Brooklyn.
