Rapidly rising up the 140-pound ladder, Torreon Coahuila's Roberto "Massa" Ortiz (29-0-1, 23 KO's holds the WBC Silver title since 2011 resulting from a technical knockout of Antonio Lozada Jr., winning nine fights with that belt on the line. In his most recent bout, on June 15, 2013, Ortiz delivered a strong statement to the boxing world with his 10th round stoppage of highly-regarded Jorge Romero, and the 27-year-old is eager to repeat his success this weekend in a 12-round bout.
Mexico City's Reyes Sanchez (25-4-2, 14 KO's) is an experienced competitor who, like his countryman Ortiz, is on the verge of big things in the ring. A former WBC Youth, Continental Americas, and Silver champion at lightweight, the 28-year-old is now looking to match and even surpass that success at 140 pounds. Unbeaten in five of his last six bouts, Sanchez is well-trained and eager to hear the bell ring on Saturday night.
The brother of the legendary Erik "El Terrible" Morales, 22-year-old Ivan "Nino Maravilla" Morales (22-0, 13 KO's) from Tijuana, Baja California Mexico, has been improving with every fight since turning pro in 2009, with three 2013 wins over Patricio Camacho (KO 1), Raul Hidalgo (W 8) and Alejandro Morales (W 10) keeping the momentum going. Now defending his WBC International Silver title for the third time in a 12-round bout, this dynamic southpaw from Tijuana aims to remain unbeaten in Mexico City.
Cesar Javier "Gandarita" Gandara (22-3, 9 KO's) is a five-year pro with tremendous potential that he hopes to begin reaching starting with Saturday's pivotal matchup against unbeaten Ivan Morales. Winner of four consecutive bouts, including WBC Fecarbox title fights against Elfego Sierra, Irving Requena, and Raul Koh, the 25-year-old Durango native is ready to compete in the biggest bout of his career.
