Andre Ward Post Victory Quotes, Chilemba and Gvozdyk, Darmani Rock vs. Brice Ritani-Coe and Claressa Shields vs. Franchon Crews

ANDRE WARD (31-0, 15 KOs)
 13,310
“What a beautiful thing! We did it baby! It's a lot of hardware. Surreal! This is what I set out to do. Now I'm a 5X World Champion in 2 weight classes. Man, it's amazing!

“I thought I won and it sounded like fair scoring.

“Your last fight is always the most important. But I needed this.

“It was about those in the trenches moments. Sergey has no inside game. So my mid-range and inside game is what I focused on.

“After that second round knockdown, I think he (Kovalev) realized I wasn't going anywhere and I was stepping on the gas.

“The new light heavyweight champion. That sounds good! This was my most important and satisfying win.

“Technically, there is always stuff I can pick apart. I'm not happy about that second round knockdown but I didn't panic. I was at peace. Now, it was time to fight. It was a flash knockdown. I wasn't hurt by it. As a matter of fact, I wasn't hurt by anything he threw.”

VIRGIL HUNTER, Trainer of Andre Ward:

“This is a good feeling. We were careless with that knockdown but we landed the cleaner punches. Kovalev was aggressive but not effective and that's why we got this win. I'm happy for Andre.”

JAMES PRINCE, Manager of Andre Ward:

“It went just like I said. We crowned David at the end of the night. And Andre would hold those belts up just like Goliath's head.”

MICHAEL YORMARK, Roc Nation President & Chief of Branding and Strategy:

“Great night! Great performance by Andre! Terrific fight by two great champions. It's a great moment for Andre and his entire family. Roc Nation is very proud of what he accomplished tonight. On to the next one...”
Isaac Chilemba
I am devastated. If I hadn’t hurt my right arm in the third round it would have been a completely different outcome. I was in an incredible amount of pain from the third round through the rest of the fight.

Oleksandr Gvozdyk
I’m very excited and happy. What more can I say? This is the best feeling!

Darmani Rock by unanimous decision in 4 rounds

Darmani Rock
New Record: 6-0 (4 KOs)
"That felt good. He has a tough head but my reach, speed and power surpassed him. Feels good to keep my undefeated record intact. Now it's time to get back in the gym and wait for Roc Nation Sports to tell me what's next."

Brice Ritani-Coe
New Record: 4-5-1 (3 KOs)
“God is good all the time.”

 Claressa Shields
New Record: 1-0
"It feels so good to have just made my pro debut. This is what I've been training for. I'm faster and I hit harder. And I'm the better fighter. But Crews brought 100% and I respect her for that. I hope to fight next in January or February."

Franchon Crews
New Record: 0-1
“It’s not what I wanted but to be called on, last minute, for a fight of this magnitude… I am proud of myself. We will fight again in the future.”

 Tyler McCreary
New Record: 12-0 (6 KOs)
"It was a tough fight. Jennings is crafty for his size. He's powerful too. But I know I took him every round. I had height and speed all to my advantage. I'm pleased with my performance. I dug deep. It was a great learning experience. Next time, I will be more prepared."

Vincent Jennings
New Record: 5-3-1 (4 KOs)
“Glory be to God. I want to thank him for this opportunity.”

 DRAW

Maurice Hooker
New Record: 21-0-3 (16 KOs)
“It’s not my day. That’s not how I wanted to see this fight end.”

Darleys Perez
New Record: 33-2-2 (21 KOs)
“I won the fight. He’s a young lion but I know in my heart that I won the fight. I was robbed, I want a rematch.”

Mayweather Promotions presents an exciting night of live boxing inside Sam’s Town Live! Join us for all the hard-hitting action! Sharif Bogere vs. Hylon Williams on December 2 in Las Vegas

PLUS! Ashley "Treasure" Theophane featured in the main event, along with a stacked Mayweather Promotions undercard including undefeated rising prospects Juan Heraldez, Maurice Lee, Kevin Newman & more!
Sharif "The Lion" Bogere (29-1, 20 KO's) is back in action after a flawless fifth round TKO victory against Luis Florez on September 16th. Bogere will face Hylon Williams (16-3-1, 3KO's) in a 10-round lightweight battle on December 2nd at Sam's Town Live in the main event. A win for Bogere will increase his win streak to seven and bring him one step closer to a title opportunity.
"I am excited; as "The Lion" you will hear me 'roar' on December 2nd," said Bogere. "I think my performance last fight gave the fans what they wanted to see, I gained more fans, but most importantly, I was focused. This fight will bring me even closer to a title fight, and that is what I am here for,"
"I'm facing a tough opponent, but I've already been in the ring in some tough battles and learned from those experiences," said Williams. "I don't see much getting in my way of me stopping him come December 2nd,"
Further action will see former title challenger Ashley "Treasure" Theophane (39-7, 12 KO's) in the co-main event, who has made it clear that he is here for redemption. Theophane, who was originally supposed to be featured on the last Sin City Showdown card on October 8th has taken this time to train harder, become more focused and is set to out perform and come out on top with a victory.
"It's been said that this is my redemption fight," said Theophane. "I have been faced with many challenges in my career, with my back up against the wall and have bounced back. This fight is like any other fight, and I plan to come out victorious,"
Bogere fights out of Las Vegas, while proudly representing his native Uganda. The 27-year-old won his first 23 pro fights while picking up victories over Raymundo Beltran, Francisco Contreras, and Manuel Levya. He enters this bout on a six-fight win streak and will be challenged by Hylon Williams fighting out of Las Vegas, NV.
Originally from Houston, Williams now fights out of Las Vegas. He began his career in 2008 with a 15-0 record, until former two-division world champion Rances Barthlemy stopped him back in February 2012. Williams bounced back with a win versus John Willoughby the same year, and after a 3 year hiatus found himself back in the ring to face Jason Lizau, which judges ruled a draw. Since then, Wiliams has suffered back-to-back losses against Yuriokis Gamboa on December 19 2015, and Rashad Ganaway on August 20, 2016.
Theophane has faced many top opponents in the 140-147 class, including Danny Garcia, Pablo Cesar Cano, and Adrien Broner. He started his 2015 campaign with back-to-back victories over both Mahonri Montes in April and Steve Upsher in September. On April 1, 2016 he suffered a tough loss to Adrien Broner in a world title fight.
Fight Night will take place on Friday, December 2nd at Sam's Town Live.Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, start at $15 and are available online at: www.samstownlv.com/entertain and on www.mayweatherpromotions.com.

2-19 HBO BAD JENNINGS VS. ORTIZ

Former world title contender Bryant "By-By" Jennings(19-1, 10 KOs) and recently crowned WBA Interim Heavyweight belt holder Luis "The Real King Kong" Ortiz (23-0, 20 KOs)
upcoming anticipated 12-round championship title fight on Dec. 19. The event will take place at Turning Stone Resort Casino, in Verona, New York and will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark.

BRYANT "BY-BY" JENNINGS, Former Heavyweight World Title Contender:

"This is Ortiz's first real fight as a professional. You will see no other person in boxing that comes close to my stature.

"The training has been different but not difficult. You are building a machine. Once the person puts the wheels and gears on, they are done. Then you polish it and put it up for display. That's where I am at in my career now. We are going to show you that this training addition has worked.

"He has a long amateur career, I have a long professional career. Your deep experience as an amateur doesn't mean you will have a successful professional career. This guy (Ortiz) hasn't seen a real fighter like me yet. He has to make himself believe that he knows what to do; he has to prove it on December 19. But I am going to shut him down that day, that's my plan.

"We are going to bring a good fight. We are going to put on a show and either one of us, win, lose or draw, will show the fans what we can do. We are going to shift the focus on the heavyweight division to us.

"He's confident but a little too confident. He doesn't understand what he is up against. He has never faced an opponent like me. He has to humble himself because it is going to be an embarrassment. What I do is, I make sure I am well trained and prepared to knock him out, 100 percent. The fans will love my 100 percent. I am standing my ground. I will have him crying in the ring. It is going to be real difficult for him to get over this. I'm going to fight and give my all."

LUIS "THE REAL KING KONG" ORTIZ, WBA Interim Heavyweight World Champion:

"Thank you to the Golden Boy Promotions team, HBO and everyone who has supported me and given me a chance to prove myself and what I deserve.

"The people will know who is coming for the number one spot. I didn't come here from Cuba to sit here and do nothing. I am coming for the belt; I am coming to become the heavyweight world champion.

"Every fight is important but this is the most important fight of my career so far. I am prepared to stop Jennings. I am a boxer-puncher and will knock him out.

"Of course I have what it takes to beat competitors like Fury and Wilder. With training and determination, I believe that I will be unstoppable.

"I'm ready and able to do what I have to do. I want to bring the belts back to the United States and become the unified heavyweight world champion.

"Me and Klitschko are nothing alike; I hit much harder than him."

Daniel Jacobs vs Peter Quillin Fight This Saturday December 5th, at The Barclays in Brooklyn. NYC

He’s going to have to hit me to test my chin.” – Jacobs
“My prediction for Saturday? A new champion of the world.” - Quillin

In a highly anticipated showdown between two of Brooklyn’s most exciting and talented fighters, WBA Middleweight World Champion Daniel “The Miracle Man” Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs) will take on former world champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (32-0-1, 23 KOs).
In the co-feature, WBA Featherweight World Champion Jesus Cuellar (27-1, 21 KOs) will face exciting Puerto Rican contender Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo(26-4, 16 KOs).  The rest of the stacked undercard features a diverse group of fighters from across the boroughs and regions of New York including Long Island’s Chris Algieri and Joe Smith Jr, Brooklyn’s Yuri Foreman and Heather Hardy, Staten Island’s Marcus Browne, and Queens’ Will Rosinsky.
DANIEL JACOBS
“Not only are we fighting for the bragging rights in Brooklyn, but we both want to be at the top of the middleweight division. All the top middleweights are fighting each other and we’re right in that realm.
“I believe my speed is my greatest advantage. My skill, my ring generalship … I could go on and on. Ultimately it’s about going in there and proving it.
“I think taking a loss before benefits me. I know exactly how to prepare and how to prepare to make sure I never have that feeling again.
“He’s gonna have to hit me to test my chin. This sport is about hitting and not getting hit. Anybody can be knocked down, but you have to land shots. Every time I’ve gotten knocked down, I’ve gotten up.
“My prediction is that I’m going to have my hand raised in victory. Whether it’s by knockout or decision, we’ll have to see.
“This camp has been different because I’ve had a pre-camp. We had three weeks of just strength and conditioning. I got in shape to get ready for camp. When it’s all done, it’s going to be a 10-week camp.
“Mentally I feel like I’m strong and I like where I’m at physically. My weight is good and I feel healthy. We’re going to give the best of everything.
A lot of people are excited about the fights. I'm just excited it is finally here and I'm hoping to come out with a victory in impressive fashion.
“This is a boxer vs. a boxer-puncher. If I get a guy hurt. I can get a guy out of there as well. My punching power is there. I have more knockouts than Quillin and I’m going to be at my best on Saturday.
“I’m thankful for all my fans. I want everyone to know that I’m coming to represent Brooklyn and this show will not disappoint on Saturday night.”
PETER QUILLIN
“Distractions are in your head, but they can be a bit more here in New York. It's nice to get away to Miami and be able to concentrate on training and have everything right there.

“The buzz around Brooklyn is I am the new champ. I came to New York with a small city mindset but big city dreams and now they are all coming true.
On chatting with Floyd Mayweather Tuesday night at Barclays Center:  “It’s funny because I was speaking to a school today, but when I first met Floyd Mayweather, it was at my school and I was like ‘man I could be like that too one day’ and I told him about it. He didn’t understand why I said that, ‘it all started because of you’ and he said ‘what do you mean’ and I told him what happened. We laughed about it and that’s all I needed right there. I didn’t need him to do anything for me just to know that it all started back with him coming to my school and speaking to kids like me and look where I am now. I was only 14-years-old.

“You can expect fireworks in the month of December. We're going to be throwing everything we can possibly throw.
“Being in Miami with all the Cuban history there was great. Boxing was like a fighter lifestyle. I was around many people who were inspirational beyond words.
“When I went to the (Erislandy) Lara fight we were looking for parking and I went up to a guy and I asked if we could park there. He goes ‘tu eres chocolate?’ (you are chocolate) and I said yes, and he said ‘do you know how much Cuban people love you?’ I had never realized that before and it made me more inspired, to speak more Spanish, to understand my people. Cuban people are my people, I never would deny that and I am very blessed. I am also a black American as well so I want to set a good example, especially where the time in the world is in right now for black people. I want to be an inspiration for both.
“We’ve got a plan A, plan B, plan C, plan D, plan E, plan F. We are going to go to beyond, but most importantly I am very happy. I am spiritually happy and thankful. You fall out of fear and fall into faith and you can never deny yourself, so that’s where I am right now.
“By being Cuban automatically you fight from a different point of perspective of the globe when it comes to fighting. For me, I’m thankful and more inspired to work even harder because I do have fans that I would never expect would be my fans.
“I haven’t seen ‘Creed’ yet; I am only focused on this fight. I want to create my own ‘Creed’ moments in this fight.
“Altogether I think it’s probably about an equally matched fight. You have two determined guys fighting for their own personal reasons; he’s fighting with a cancer story, I’m also fighting with that. My uncle passed away of cancer so I fight with a piece of him as well.
“I’m just Peter Quillin. All I know is just go in that ring, train against whoever it is, no matter who it is and do my best.
“My mom always said, ‘sometimes it takes getting put on your ass to know where you’re at’ so it could be helpful to him that he’s tasted defeat. He’s been there before, you fight with the reason that you don’t ever want to be there again or he could’ve even gotten better after that sitting on his butt, now he wants to fight harder.
“My prediction for Saturday? A new champion of the world.

GARY RUSSELL JR. & ANTOINE DOUGLAS MEDIA WORKOUT PHOTOS & QUOTES AS THEY PREPARE FOR SEPARATE BOUTS IN NOVEMBER ON SHOWTIME®

Beltway-area natives Gary Russell Jr. (26-1, 15 KOs) and Antoine Douglas (18-0-1, 12 KOs) held a media workout at The Enigma Boxing on Tuesday as they prepare for their separate bouts in November on SHOWTIME.
Russell Jr. will make the first defense of his WBC Featherweight World Championship against Colombia’s Oscar Escandón (24-2, 16 KOs) in the main event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on Saturday, Nov. 14, live on SHOWTIME (10:45 p.m. ET/PT) from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Douglas, a world-ranked rising middleweight prospect, will put his undefeated record on the line against veteran Les Sherrington (35-7, 20 KOs) in the main event of the prospect-oriented series ShoBox: The New Generation on Friday, Nov. 6, live on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/PT) from the D Las Vegas.
Here’s what Russell Jr., Douglas, Gary Russell Sr. (Gary’s father and trainer) and Gary Antonio Russell (Gary’s younger brother and undefeated boxing prospect) had to say on Tuesday:
GARY RUSSELL JR.:
“Training camp is going great, we’re right on course. There was a minor hiccup in the camp because I was supposed to fight on Oct. 24. I started sparring, but once the fight got pushed back to November 14 I cut the sparring off. I didn’t want to peak too early.
“Today (Tuesday) was my first day back sparring again. I’m working on my timing, ring generalship and lateral movement.  We’re right on course.
“Oscar Escandon is strong and durable. He comes straight forward. If his corner was smart they would try to take away my hand speed which will be a big factor in the fight. He’ll need to close the distance, smother my punches so speed isn’t a factor.
“We are working on becoming just as comfortable fighting on the outside as I am fighting on the inside.
“A lot of fighters are one-dimensional. We are trying to make that diamond shine on all sides.
“I know that I will be victorious without a doubt. Anyone that you get in the ring with these small, 8-ounce gloves always has a possibility of creating an upset whether he’s a big puncher or not.  It only takes one shot.  It’s the fighters’ job to take away that opportunity.
“I’m excited to fight, period.  I don’t even think about this fight being a title defense. It takes a certain type of mental toughness and psychological strength to get in the ring and perform. Anyone who gets in the ring against me is a champion in my eyes.
“It’s been about seven months since I fought.  I’m always anxious to get back in the ring.
“If I get past Escandon I would love to fight Leo Santa Cruz, we fought in the amateurs.  But we never underestimate any opponent and we are focused on getting this fight out of the way first. Lee Selby is another guy that we’re looking at.  Of course Abner Mares, even though he lost, would be a great fight.  These are the type of guys that we’d like to fight.
“Having my family with me during training camp means everything to me. It’s where I get my energy from. A lot of guys feel like they have to get away for training camp, but I don’t have to leave home. My family is the driving force behind my training camp and where I find my power and motivation. At the end of the day, I box for my family.
“If my brother ends up fighting on my undercard it would be very cool for me. It will be funny because if he does compete, you will definitely see me work his corner before my title fight.”
ANTOINE DOUGLAS:
“I know my opponent is a tall southpaw. He likes to fight on the inside and smother his opponents with his punches.  It’s a good matchup.  I can adjust to any boxer face.
“I’m satisfied with the way that my career has progressed, taking steps up with each opponent along the way.  We’re ready to take that next step, more toward a title shot.
“If all goes well with my fight against Les Sherrington I hope to start fighting on Saturday, make that move from ShoBox to SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING.
“I see myself fighting for a world title in the near future. There are plenty names in the division that I look at, but only a few guys that hold the titles. I look at Daniel Jacobs and Peter Quillin as guys that I would like to fight.
“The Jacobs vs. Quillin fight could go either way. I think I’m leaning more towards Quillin.
“I was born prematurely. Doctors told my family that I wouldn’t be able to walk or see, but look at me now. My mom is always screaming at my fights because she’s so proud of the fact that I’ve overcome so much.
“I grew up with my siblings bouncing around at different foster homes from the age of 5. I was running the streets because I didn’t know any better.
“My cousin adopted us and he first introduced us to boxing.
“Boxing provided me with a family, structure and disciple. It has made me the person I am today and has brought me success so I can live a better life in the future.
“My upbringing in the streets prepared me for my career in the ring. I have already been through the battle and if something was to stop me it would’ve already happened.
“My mom battled addiction when I was younger and she wasn’t in my life. She’s now back in my life and it means a lot to me to have her supporting me with my career. I am also able to provide structure in her life.
“It would mean everything to me to have my mom and I celebrate a world title.”
GARY RUSSELL SR.:
"I know it's a championship fight, but we go into every fight like it's a title fight. We don't know a ton about his opponent, we just train like champions.
"I have six sons, all of them are fighters. They all have different attributes as people that translate differently into who they are as people and in the ring.
"Antonio Russell is 4-0, he's worked really hard all of his life. Outside of the gym, he can fix anything. Antoine, who just qualified for the Olympic trials, is brilliant. I'm very proud of him because he just graduated valedictorian of his class with the highest GPA of anyone in Prince George's county. Then you have Gary, who is so hard working, he's the future patriarch of the family, he has an old spirit.
"I'm proud of all of my kids and I'm proud that we're a strong family unit. We learned a lot from Gary's loss to Vasyl Lomachenko. We have a motto at the gym that hangs from a banner, it says 'Success is the Ultimate Revenge' and we've lived by that ever since the loss. We learned an important lesson from that fight and have moved on.
"Boxing is a fleeting thing, you don't do it forever. We're doing our own thing. I'm not worried about what other people have done.
"As a father, your paternal instinct kicks in because in this sport, anything can happen. You don't want to see your son end up hurt. So we train for any circumstance. Because of that instinct, I've been strict and hard on my sons in order to keep them safe."
GARY ANTONIO RUSSELL (Fighting on the Friday, Oct. 30 non-televised Premier Boxing Champions on Bounce TV undercard and potentially the November 14 undercard.):
"With the way we train and fight, our defense sets up our offense and our offense sets up our defense.
"My job is to go in there and win fights. I know my opponent is a tall guy, but I also know that he is not going to win. He doesn't have the punching power or ring generalship that I have.
"Once I win, I'm on to the next. I'm trained to fight consistently. I hope I get this guy out early, if it comes and presents itself. Then I'd love to fight on my older brother's card two weeks after."
As he nears his Saturday, Nov. 14 showdown against WBC Featherweight World Champion Gary Russell Jr. (26-1, 15 KOs), featherweight contender Oscar Escandón (24-2, 16 KOs) is primed and ready for the challenge. The 12-round SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® main-event will be televised live on SHOWTIME (10:45 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast), from Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The co-main event of the evening will see undefeated super welterweights Frank “Notorious” Galarza (17-0-2, 11 KOs) and Jarrett “Swift” Hurd (16-0, 10 KOs) in a 10-round clash.
Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are priced at $155, $105, $80, $55 and $30, not including applicable fees, and are on sale now. Tickets may be purchased at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino box office, by calling 888-9-AXS-TIX, or online at www.axs.com.
