THE BATTLE OF BROOKLYN IN ON! Former World Champions Zab Judah & Paulie Malignaggi Set To Fight on Dec. 7 At Barclays Center Live on SHOWTIME

THE BATTLE OF BROOKLYN IS ON!
FORMER FIVE-TIME, TWO-DIVISION WORLD CHAMPION ZAB "SUPER" JUDAH TO FIGHT FOR BROOKLYN BRAGGING RIGHTS AGAINST FORMER TWO-TIME, TWO-DIVISION WORLD CHAMPION PAULIE "THE MAGIC MAN" MALIGNAGGI ON DEC. 7 AT BARCLAYS CENTER LIVE ON SHOWTIME®
PLUS, WBA SUPER WELTERWEIGHT INTERIM CHAMPION
ERISLANDY LARA TO MAKE HIS FIRST TITLE DEFENSE AGAINST FORMER WBA SUPER WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION AUSTIN "NO DOUBT" TROUT AND 2012 U.S. OLYMPIAN MARCUS BROWNE SCHEDULED TO FIGHT
Barclays Center will host two of the borough's favorite sons, former Five-Time, Two-Division World Champion Zab "Super" Judah and former Two-Time, Two-Division World Champion Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi, on Saturday, Dec. 7 todecide who is the true King of Brooklyn. The 12-round welterweight bout will be televised live on SHOWTIME (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).
"I am happy to be back fighting in front of my hometown crowd," said Judah, who is from Brownsville. "Paulie and I have known each other for a long time and we have a mutual respect for each other, but with this fight on Dec. 7 it is going to be like the ancient Roman days. There has to be a leader and that position belongs to me."
"I have always admired Zab's skills and his resume speaks for itself," said Malignaggi, a native of Bensonhurst. "But this is the 'Battle of Brooklyn' and winning this fight is worth more than any world title."
"In a year of great fights, I have to say that this one is high on my list of the most anticipated," said CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Richard Schaefer. "Paulie and Zab are two of the slickest, fastest and most charismatic boxers in the world today and when you add in the fact that they're fighting for Brooklyn bragging rights, it's going to be an early holiday gift for boxing fans."
"Judah vs. Malignaggi promises to be a high intensity chess match between two master boxers," said Vice President of Super Judah Promotions Bill Halkias. "This fight is not only special to Brooklyn boxing fans, but also a highly anticipated fight for boxing fans in general. Who wouldn't want to see two highly skilled and experienced world champion boxers go at it for the right to be crowned 'The King of Brooklyn'? I believe Dec. 7 will be a night to remember."
"We've hosted some great fights at Barclays Center in our first year, but this one is different - this fight is about two Brooklyn-born-and-raised fighters proudly representing their respective neighborhoods," said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark. "Paulie and Zab are pros at captivating audiences with their big personalities and boxing skills. We are delighted that they will once again step into Brooklyn's most celebrated ring for what is sure to be another memorable night of boxing at Barclays Center."
"Highly competitive, hard-fought, exciting fights have been the hallmark of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING all year long, and the December 7 card is no different," said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports. "If you want tune-ups, appearance fights or mismatches, then look elsewhere.  But if you're looking for evenly matched, meaningful fights featuring four of the most skilled boxers in any division, then the December 7 edition of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING is a can't-miss."
In the 12-round co-main event, the WBA Super Welterweight Championship is on the line as interim titleholder Erislandy Lara battles former champion Austin "No Doubt" Trout. The Cuban star, Lara, is coming off a 'Fight of the Year' candidate in his 10th -round title-winning stoppage of Alfredo Angulo in June, but the gifted Trout is hungrier than ever to regain his world title. Additionally, 2012 U.S. Olympian Marcus Browne, who will be featured at Barclays Center for the fifth time in his professional career, will face an opponent to be determined.
"This is a great matchup with Austin Trout and I respect his skills in the ring," said Lara. "He knows the art of boxing like I do, and the fans will see the sport at its highest level when we fight."
"It's only been a few months, but I already miss being called 'champ,'" said Trout. "So I'd like to thank Lara, Golden Boy, and the WBA for this opportunity to get my belt back and I will get it back this December."
"Barclays Center has truly become my second home," said Browne. "Having the opportunity to fight there more times than any one else is an honor. I look forward to making another appearance there on Dec. 7."
Judah vs. Malignaggi is a 12-round welterweight fight taking place on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The event is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and supported by Golden Boy Promotions' sponsors Corona and AT&T. The SHOWTIME telecast begins at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast) and will be available in Spanish via secondary audio programming (SAP). In the co-featured bout, Erislandy Lara defends his interim WBA Super Welterweight Championship in a 12-round fight against Austin "No Doubt" Trout. Preliminary fights will air on SHOWTIME EXTREME at 7 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
Blessed with the speed, power and ring savvy that long ago earned him the nickname "Super,"Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO's) has been dazzling fight fans in New York and beyond since 1996, winning world titles at 140 and 147 pounds along the way. Owner of wins against Micky Ward, Junior Witter, Cory Spinks and Lucas Matthysse, the 35-year-old southpaw has also squared off with the best of this era, including Floyd Mayweather, Kostya Tszyu, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan and Danny Garcia, who he recently extended the 12-round distance in a memorable championship bout in April. But to get back into a title fight, Judah must first successfully defeat Malignaggi.
A former junior welterweight and welterweight world champion known as "The Magic Man,"Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO's) built an early reputation for talking a good game, but when the bell rang, his skills backed up his boasts. Despite his flashy style in and out of the ring, the 32-year-old has proven himself to be a true warrior, as evidenced by his victories over Juan Diaz, Lovemore Ndou, Vyacheslav Senchenko and Pablo Cesar Cano, and his battles with Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan. Coming off of a razor-thin split decision loss to Adrien Broner in June, Malignaggi's return to the ring has him more amped up than ever.
After graduating from the legendary Cuban amateur boxing program, Guantanamo's Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO's) began his quest for professional glory in 2008, eventually settling in Miami. By 2011, he was one of the sport's unsung heroes, with the only blemishes on his record being a controversial draw with Carlos Molina and a majority decision loss to Paul Williams that most consider to be one of the worst decisions in recent history. Since then, Lara has done his best to take matters out of the judges' hands, going 3-0-1 with technical knockouts of Ronald Hearns and Alfredo Angulo. Lara's win over Angulo in June of this year earned the 30-year-old southpaw the interim WBA Championship, and he will look to defend his interim title on Dec. 7.
Slick southpaw Austin "No Doubt" Trout (26-1, 14 KO's) operated under the mainstream radar for many years, but the Las Cruces, New Mexico native never lost sight of his goals, knowing that he would capitalize on his first big opportunity. That opportunity came in February of 2011, when he traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico to take on Rigoberto Alvarez. In that bout, Trout won a 12-round unanimous decision and the vacant WBA Super Welterweight title, a crown he successfully defended four times with victories over David Lopez, Frank LoPorto, Delvin Rodriguez, and Miguel Cotto. In April, Trout lost his title in a hard-fought match with WBC champion Canelo Alvarez, but this December, the 28-year-old gets his chance to take the belt back.
After blasting through his first six opponents as a professional, Staten Island's "Sir" Marcus Browne (7-0, 6 KO's) proved that he could go the distance as well in his most recent bout, as he pounded out an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Lamont Williams at Barclays Center. On Dec. 7, the 22-year-old former Olympian seeks his eighth consecutive win.

IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Prepares To Take On Karo Murat on October 26 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City Live on SHOWTIME®
PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 17) - IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard Hopkinsdebuted his newfound ring persona known as "The Alien" at a media workout yesterday at Joe Hand's Boxing Gym in Philadelphia as he prepares for his Oct. 26 title defense against top rated contender Karo Murat. In true Hopkins fashion, the oldest fighter to win a world title in boxing history showcased his "out of this world" athletic abilities in front of a large amount of media eager to hear what he had to say. The fight will take place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City live on  SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).
Below please find quotes from Hopkins, who is also known for his "gift of gab" as well as his in ring talents.
BERNARD HOPKINS, IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion
"Everyone the age of 40 and over had better be on my side on October 26, or I'll kick their ass.
"I'm happy to be here, but that's where the alien comes in. You won't hear the Executioner. You won't see me with my hands crossed. The Executioner is retired. I'm an alien because I am of this world, but I'm not from this world.
"I'm now in another era because I've outlasted so many others. I outlasted the James Toney era, the Kelly Pavlik era and now I'm in the Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia era.
"There is a negative attributed to being different than everyone else, a negative attributed with being blessed and being able to do what I'm doing. You have to be able to walk the walk and talk the talk or you have haters.
"I am of a new era with an old soul...I represent the old soul of doing things the right way. Living the right way. Thinking the right way. Treating my mind, body and soul the right way.
"I know you all have questions to ask me, but there isn't really that much you can ask me. Let me do the talking. What can you ask me that you haven't heard for the last three decades? What are you going to ask me? Are you going to win? Are you ready? If I'm not, I'm going to show up anyway.
"I have been doing this for this long and going through the motions.  After a while going through the motions becomes an instinct.
"Yes I'm ready. Yes I'm hyped, but I'm in control.
"I get to show in action how special I am.  How many people get a chance to prove how special they are over and over and over again? As far as I'm concerned, it's not about how much money you make when you're fighting that makes you special.
"I believe that 10 years from now I am still going to be respected. I don't like to think about this guy being a star or that guy a star. Look back 15 years from now and we will see then.
"I never put all of my eggs in one basket. I never come into the ring with one style. How do you train to beat Bernard Hopkins?
"Karo Murat says he is coming in with youth.
"Karo Murat is smart enough, but dumb enough to say that he has half of my experience. We've heard that before. He has half of the experience. He's coming with two theories.
"He is coming to fight the guy that is 48. Just because the car is a 1965, doesn't mean it's old. Check the mileage, check the engine and then check the wear and tear. The year is old, but if you check the engine is like new.
"I call what I do in the gym, is 'the car wash.' I go all over this gym to keep my mind fresh. Some guys do that with women, I don't. At this age, you want to keep your mind stimulated and not get bored with one thing.
"My weight is good. I'm fine. I have to eat to stay on weight.
"Philly has an old history that isn't coming alive, but is alive. Danny Garcia, Gabriel Rosado, etc. But Philadelphia right now is in a good position regarding boxing. Better than the last three or four years when you have a city that had the riches of some of the greats. The load on my back that I carried for many years is being lifted with guys like Danny Garcia.
"Boxing in this city has a few people they can root for. One of them is Gabe [Rosado] who is fighting 'Kid Chocolate' [on October 26].
If you can't make it and you have a TV and you pay your cable bill, you can watch it on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING."

Super Bantamweight Chris Martin Triple Threat: Boxer, Corrections Officer & Family Man‏

Thompson Boxing Promotions returns to Southern California's Inland Empire with another stellar edition of its "Locked 'n Loaded" boxing series this Friday, Oct. 18, at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.  The 8-round main event features the veteran and technical Christopher Martin (27-2-3, 9 KOs) of San Diego against the tough-as-nails Enrique Quevedo (14-6-1, 9 KOs) of Los Angeles.

The co-feature, also set for 8-rounds and at 122 pounds, pits volume boxer-puncher Juan Reyes (9-1-2, 1 KO) of Riverside, Calif. against Los Angeles-native Daniel Roman (8-1-1, 3 KOs).
Martin made himself available to talk about his upcoming fight against Quevedo, his professional life outside of boxing and the reasoning behind his recent knockout victories.

You train at the Undisputed Boxing Gym in downtown San Diego with trainers Joe Varga and Sergio Melendrez. How do you feel about your training camp and physical condition heading into Friday's fight?

I feel like my timing and conditioning are where they need to be.  We got a lot of good, quality sparring for this fight.  I prepared for eight rounds, but I don't think it will go to distance. I'm looking for a knockout win.

Three out of your last four wins have come by way of knockout. You don't usually string together that many knockouts. Did you change your style or are you just being more aggressive?

When I was younger I was content with the win, I didn't take too many risks. Now it's more about winning convincingly and putting on a show for everyone. I played it too safe early in my career and was happy with a unanimous decision win. As I've grown older, my opinion has changed. I want to engage more, especially when I feel a knockout coming. I know my record would show more knockouts if I pressed the action a little more. Against Quevedo this Friday, I'm definitely going to make him work.  I'm not interested in scoring a win based on points.  I want a stoppage victory.

In your fifth professional fight, back in 2007, you fought Enrique's twin brother, Daniel. The judges scored it a draw, but you don't think that was the correct scoring.

To me, there's no way that fight was a draw. I beat him cleanly. I landed the stronger punches. I controlled the fight from start to finish. He never tagged me with anything substantial. That blemish still bugs me to this day

So is there any added motivation for your fight against Enrique?

There's definitely a little bit of redemption, a little bit of revenge associated with fighting Enrique. I'm basically going to be punching the same guy in the face because they're twins. I'm not going to make it easy on Enrique. He's going to get a tough fight. I'm going to walk him down and wear him out.

On top of being a full-time boxer, you also have a career as a corrections officer in San Diego. Plus, you're married and have two young boys. How do you manage all the responsibilities?

It's definitely not easy. You have to maximize your time. I've become more organized and efficient as a result. I've had this busy schedule for more than five years now so it actually feels normal. If I have a long gap between fights, which doesn't happen often, but when I do, I kind of don't know what to do with all the free time.

How does your family handle the busy schedule?  You're up at six am to run four to five miles, you go to work all day, and then from four to six you're at the boxing gym.

It's tough on our kids. I only get to spend about two hours a day with them. Sometimes my wife will complain about me going to sleep early because I usually do my roadwork in the early morning before I go into work. She's very supportive though and I'm very fortunate to have her in my life. There's no way I could do this without her

The company you work for, Corrections Corporation of America, are they supportive of what you do outside of work?

They're very supportive of my boxing career, especially during the week of the fight. I take those days off to relax, spend time with my family and ready myself for the fight. I actually might have a few colleagues from my work attend the fight.

What energizes you?

I try to stay upbeat. My dad actually is a big inspiration; he's a ball of energy. He's really upbeat and positive and that's the way I try to be. There's really no reason to be negative. I think the people that have negative attitudes or a negative outlook do so on purpose because it requires less energy than being positive and warm.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first bell rings at 7:45 p.m. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 N. Vineyard Dr. Ontario, CA 91764 and can be reached at (909) 937-0900.

"Locked 'n Loaded" is presented by Thompson Boxing Promotions and sponsored by Lucas Oil, in association with Time Warner Cable Deportes.

GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS SIGNS BRAZILIAN OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDALIST YAMAGUCHI FALCAO

A 2012 Olympic Bronze medalist and one of the most promising boxers to ever come from the country of Brazil, Yamaguchi Falcao will begin his journey toward professional gold as a member of the Golden Boy Promotions team, the Los Angeles-based promoter announced today.
"Yamaguchi Falcao is a top-tier talent and a major signing for us," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. "He has the skill and charisma to become a star and with the entire country of Brazil behind him, the sky's the limit for him."
"I'm honored to be signed with Golden Boy Promotions and I appreciate the faith they have in me," said Falcao. "I promise to train my hardest and fight my best to one day become a world champion."
"The signing of Yamaguchi Falcao is a extremely exciting to me," said Rolando Arellano, Manager of Falcao, "I have had the pleasure and honor of managing the first Brazilian Boxing Olympian in 44 years. This is a historic and epic moment for all and now we move on to the pros. We will use this as an opportunity to rebuild boxing in Brazil."
A native of Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil, Falcao was born into combat sports, as his father was a former mixed martial artist who gave his son the first name of his Japanese trainer, Yamaguchi. Along with his brother Esquiva, Falcao entered the world of amateur boxing, hoping to one day escape the poverty they grew up around.
After facing the likes of "Sir" Marcus Browne, Shawn Estrada, and Ronald Gavril, Falcao fought his way to the brink of the 2012 Olympics at 160 pounds, but with his brother also weighing 160, he decided to move up to eight pounds to avoid possibly fighting Esquiva. The fighting Falcao brothers both went to the London Games, with Esquiva winning a Silver medal and Yamaguchi a Bronze, marking the first time in 44 years that a Brazilian boxer had won an Olympic medal.
The two became instant heroes in Brazil, receiving accolades from the President as well as state politicians. Yamaguchi stayed with the AIBA for a year and has he now decided to toss his hat into the pro ring in an effort to follow in the footsteps of Brazilian greats Eder "Gallo de Oro" Jofre and Acelino "Popo" Freitas.
A date and venue for Yamaguchi's professional debut will be announced at a later date.

BOSTON'S FAVORITE, DANNY "BHOY" O'CONNOR IN ACTION SATURDAY NIGHT IN PHILADELPHIA TAKES ON FORMER WORLD CHAMPION VICIOUS VIVIAN HARRIS IN THIRD FIGHT IN LESS THAN THREE MONTHS

On Saturday night, the pride of Framingham, MA, Danny "Bhoy" O'Connor (23-1, 7KO's) will return to action for the third time in less than three months when he takes on former world champion "Vicious" Vivian Harris (30-9-2, 19KO's) in the 10-round welterweight main event bout at Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA.

The event will also feature a live performance by the world-renowned and extremely popular Dropkick Murphys, whose leader singer Ken Casey, is the manager of O'Connor. Both main event fighters will weigh in tomorrow afternoon, with the weigh-in being shown that evening during the halftime of the Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix Coyotes NHL game.

"Once again Danny is doing great things for this charity," said Casey, who is promoting the event on Saturday night in association with his foundation, The Claddagh Fund.  "I am super excited to see him as the main attraction for the first time outside of New England. Philadelphia has taken to Danny like he is one of their own and we are really looking forward to this great event on Saturday night."

"I'm very excited to box in Philadelphia, as it's such a great city with so much sports history. It's always a pleasure for me to be a part of any Claddagh Fund charity event. After an amazing training camp, I'm physically and mentally ready, in the words of Jonny Gomes from the Sox,  'I'm time-tested, battle-tested, it's time to put my hard hat on and go to work,'" said O'Connor.

"Danny's taking on a real veteran in Vivian Harris and we're looking forward to a great performance," said Lou DiBella. "We're pleased that Danny is fighting on a card that benefits the Claddaugh Fund and we thank Ken Casey and the Dropkick Murphys for all their help."

The two-time national amateur champion and 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Alternate O'Connor has had a busy 2013 thus far.  The bout on Saturday will be his fifth of this year and third in less than three months.  O'Connor, now campaigning at welterweight, is looking to propel himself into the world ratings in the loaded 147lb. division in 2014, but he must first get by the former WBA light welterweight world champion Harris.

The event is being promoted by Dropkick Murphys, The Claddagh Fund, DiBella Entertainment and Green Blood Boxing, in association with Guardian Restoration and A-Plus Public Adjusters.

Hopkins vs. Murat is a 12-round bout for Hopkins' IBF Light Heavyweight + PETER "KID CHOCOLATE" QUILLIN MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES & PHOTOS

World Championship, presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Caesars Atlantic City, Corona and AT&T. In the co-main event WBO Middleweight Champion Peter Quillin puts his title on the line against Gabriel Rosado in a 12-round bout. Plus, opening the tripleheader, WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder will face Nicolai Firtha in a 10-round showdown. The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast begins live at 9 p.m. ET/PT and is available in Spanish on secondary audio programming (SAP).

WBO Middleweight World Champion Prepares for Title Defense Against "King" Gabriel Rosado on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING®
WBO Middleweight World Champion Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillinput on a clinic today for media members at his gym in Santa Monica, Calif. as he prepares for his title bout against top contender "King" Gabriel Rosado taking place Saturday, Oct. 26 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. Quillin vs. Rosado will precede the title fight between future IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard Hopkins and top-rated contender Karo Murat.
The undefeated rising star worked out for well over an hour on the speed bag and heavy bag as well as several 12-minute rounds hitting the mitts with trainer Eric Brown.
Peter Quillin, WBO Middleweight World Champion
"[Gabriel] Rosado presents his own challenges. He's coming to win my world title. I have something that he wants, so I have to respect him for that. We have to put our friendship aside.
"Going into the fight, I have to take myself to a whole another level as far as my work ethic.   I'm doing a lot more than I ever have. I've had tremendous training [camp]. Now I have to prove what my hard work does, like I always have, by just going in there and trying my best.
"I don't feel that I'm underrated. I know I have my share of supporters. But I also know that I'm still looking for that clear, career-defining performance against the kinds of guys I can get the credit for fighting.
"So, until then, until I'm in with those kinds of guys, I can't really say I've accomplished anything that would make me feel like I'm the guy that gets all the credit.
"Yeah, I beat Winky Wright, and, yeah, I beat some guys with good records, but beating another world champion is something I really want to do. I feel that once that superstar fight comes along and is on the line, then that's when the credit will come my way.
"I would love to fight any of the top guys.
"I didn't come in here picking and choosing who I want to fight.   I have a good team behind me. They make sure when it comes to me proving myself with, that I do my part and they do their part by making the best fights out there for me.
"When there is something unexplainable, like what I am doing, people are going to talk about it.
"I have had 11 knockdowns in my last three fights. I only had 15 amateur fights. People see or hear about those knockdowns and they have a lot to say about it.   'If you hit so hard and have so much power, why don't they just stay down?'   But that is not up to them to tell us why they got back up from a punch and fought on. It is up to the guy that I am fighting. The more times you get up, the more times I am going to try to knock you down.
"This will be my fourth fight on SHOWTIME. I really appreciate having them behind me. Exposure-wise, it has obviously been a big boost for me. When I walk the streets in New York City I get recognized.
"SHOWTIME is the network where all of the great fights are being made. The biggest fighter in the world, Floyd Mayweather fights on SHOWTIME. To be connected to someone that is from my hometown of Grand Rapids just like me, is fantastic.
"The most important thing for me is to go out there and inspire people to do things that they never imagined. Whether it is a boxer, a writer or an architect. I didn't have a lot of role models growing up, but it's what's in yourself that counts. And that is what I am trying to get across.''
Eric Brown, Quillin's Trainer
"Peter has really grown up a lot since winning the title, having the title and defending it successfully. It has really boosted his confidence. He's a much more composed fighter. He's true to himself.
"Since becoming champion he's really begun to believe in himself more than ever.
He's always had the confidence that he could win, but winning the title has confirmed it. It has made the job harder for him but it has also made him work harder.
"He's matured into a real professional. I have had him for about three years and he has always been a great young man to work with. He pretty much does everything I ask. The more I ask the more he gives. There is no limit to how far he can go. It's all on him. I would love to see him get the opportunity to unify the division and then up to 168 pounds and unify the division there too.''
