ERACISM BOOK TOUR LAUNCHED
Gary James, author of the politically provocative book ERACISM will launch his national promotion campaign, following a book signing event at Harlem's Hue-Man Bookstore and CafÃ, located at 2319 Frederick Douglass Blvd., between 125th and 124th Streets on 8th Avenue, Friday July 27, 2007 at 6:00 PM.
The book's narrative has a polemical quality that is designed to inspire a broad based political discourse on the future of black power electoral politics in the 21st century. The title of the book ERACISM is a metaphor for the self defeating aspects of how the Black community and leadership address internal social, economic, political and cultural challenges.
The relative lack of political leverage in the Black community at large positions us as political weaklings among the respective minority communities. This is despite the historical numerical advantage of the Black American community as compared with more recent ethnic and political minorities,James said.
The story of ERACISM embraces the period that includes the late 1950's to the present and highlights the internal political dynamic within New York City's Black American community/leadership in the context of the civil rights and black power youth movements. The political dynamics embody the primordial rivalry between the ruling bulls and emerging bucks in the framework of both the Democratic and Republican Parties at the grassroots level of community politics.
Following the Harlem book signing event, James will undertake a local, regional and national book speaking and signing tour. The itinerary of the tour includes the well established Borders and Barnes & Nobles network of book sellers around the country.
James said, "I am pleased to launch the book tour from the Harlem based Hue-Man bookstore and look forward to presentations in other Harlem's of this country". The objective of the book promotion campaign is to inspire a broad based discourse that offers strategic alternatives to how electoral politics may be done in Black America. Apparently the Black political leadership does not have a coherent and practical strategy to enforce the legislative and statutory achievements of the modern civil rights movement. Hence, the Black community has the unique distinction of being the political weakling as compared to other ethnic and political minorities. Tragically there is no light at the end of the political tunnel.
Hopefully the book's message will help the Black community at its vote achieve escape velocity, and break through the inertia of conventional political wisdom advocated by the inherited civil rights leadership orthodoxy, James concluded.
The book will be officially released on Monday July 2, 2007, and will be available at most books stores and the Internet.
