BOXING’S BIGGEST NIGHT COMES TO WWW.GOFIGHTLIVE.TV; FOR THE 1ST TIME EVER—WATCH THE BWAA AWARDS DINNER LIVE ON GOFIGHTLIVE.TV FOR FREE!!!

NEW YORK —On Friday night June 12th it will be a historic night as for the first time ever, the esteemed BWAA (Boxing Writers Association of America) will have their annual awards dinner televised and it will be shown all over the world for FREE!!!

The 84th Boxing Writers Association of America's annual awards dinner will be held Friday night, June 12, 2009, at the Capitale, 130 Bowery in New York City.

This is an historic broadcast for the BWAA. Never before in the long history has one of our functions been telecast live. "GoFightLive" is scheduled to air the complete event, which will originate from 6:00-10:30 p.m. People throughout the world will get to see all the presentations of the awards, interviews, etc. Fans of Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines and Joe Calzaghe in Wales, doubtless will be grateful for this showing, as will others around the world.

Manny Pacquiao has been voted winner of the BWAA's Edward J. Neil "Fighter of the Year" award for 2008. In 2008, Pacquiao fought and won three fights. He began in March by winning his rematch against Juan Manuel Marquez. Pacqiuao moved up to lightweight in June and stopped champion David Diaz in nine rounds. Then Pacquiao moved up to welterweright to defeat Oscar De La Hoya in December. Pacquiao also won the Neil award in 2006.

Joe Calzaghe, who retired undefeated in 2008 after defeating Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones, wins the Al Buck award for "Manager of the Year." Calzaghe's victory is not without precedent. Two other self-managed world champions have been named best manager: George Foreman in 1994 and Bernard Hopkins in 2004.

BWAA awards winners are chosen in ballots cast by full members of the writers'organization, which has been bestowing honors upon the sport's best athletes, trainers and other participants since the 1930s. Pacquiao, Calzaghe and other recipients will be honored at the 84th Boxing Writers Association of America's annual awards dinner, to be held June 12, 2009 at the Capitale, 130 Bowery, New York, N.Y. Additional information such as price and hotel availability will be made known in the coming weeks.

The "Fight of the Year" for 2008 was the rubber-match barnburner between Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez. It was 12 rounds of sustained fury -- the fighters' third super-bantamweight battle in 12 months -- that Vazquez won by split decision.

Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach takes the Futch-Condon Award for "Trainer of the Year." Roach previously won the award in 2003 and 2006. ShoBox commentator Steve Farhood won the prestigious Walker Award for "Long and Meritorious Service." It's Farhood's second major award. In 2002 he was voted winner of the Sam Taub Award for "Excellence in Broadcast Journalism." This year's Taub recipient is HBO's Harold Lederman. Lederman, known as boxing's unofficial judge, was a 2005 award winner in the "Good Guy" category. The "Good Guy"Award, named after Marvin Kohn, will be bestowed upon Alan Hopper of Don King Productions. The closest vote was for the Crawford Award, awarded for "perseverance in overcoming adversity." It was a tie between renowned journalist George Kimball and former world champion Genaro Hernandez. Both will be honored.

Earlier, the BWAA announced that Norm Frauenheim of Arizona has won the 2008 Nat Fleischer award for "Excellence in Boxing Journalism," and Leonard Gardner, Larry Merchant, and the late John Lardner have been named as winners of A.J. Liebling Awards.

“This is an amazing opportunity to have the greatest fighters in the world on www.gofightlive.tv”, said David Klarman, Vice-President of www.gofightlive.tv

“We will present this tremendous event in a way that will make the fans happy as they will be able to see their favorite fighters such as Pacquao and Calzaghe in a way that they have never seen them before. The BWAA is a distinguished organization and we hope this is the start of a long relationship as we hope to bring this signature event to the people for many years to come.”
