WBA Welterweight World Champion Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi will defend his belt against undefeated current WBC Lightweight and Two-Division World Champion Adrien "The Problem" Broner on Saturday, June 22, LIVE on SHOWTIME (9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT) from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
One of Brooklyn's favorite fighting sons, the crafty Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO's) is a two-division world champion known for his lighting fast hands and even faster mouth. Malignaggi, who has faced Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan, will look to stop the rise of the undefeated Broner a few miles from his home in Brooklyn.
The 23-year-old, Broner (26-0, 22 KO's), of Cincinnati, Ohio, has been called the next Floyd Mayweather. The brash and confident two-division world champion will move up two weight divisions with a shot at becoming just the fourth fighter to win a world title in their first fight after jumping a weight class, joining Roberto Duran, Roy Jones Jr. and Robert Guerrero.
In the co-featured bouts, Johnathon Banks (29-1-1, 19 KO's), of Detroit, Mich., will look to repeat his 2012 upset win over Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 KO's), of Brandywine, Md., as he defends his NABO and WBC International Heavyweight titles in a 12-round bout and number one rated WBC super middleweight contender Sakio Bika (31-5-2, 21 KO's), of Sydney, Australia, faces number four rated WBC super middleweight contender
Marco Antonio Periban (20-0, 13 KO's), of Mexico City, Mexico, in a 12-round fight for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight World Championship. ABOUT "MALIGNAGGI VS BRONER":
