DHAFIR SMITH TO DEFEND PA. LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE AGAINST ANTHONY CAPUTO SMITH ON APRIL 19TH AT HARRAHS PHILADELPHIA‏; PLUS THE RETURN OF VICTOR VASQUEZ AND UNDEFEATED THOMAS “CORNFLAKE” LAMANNA


On Friday night April 19th, boxing returns to Harrahs Philadelphia as Joey Eye Boxing and David Feldman presents a night of championship boxing as Dhafir “No Fear” Smith defends the Pennsylvania State Light Heavyweight championship against the popular Anthony Caputo Smith in a bout scheduled for ten rounds.

Dhafir Smith of Philadelphia is considered one of the last “Throwback” fighters as has fought anybody at anyplace at anytime.

Smith of Upper Darby, PA has the most deceiving record of 26-23-7 with four knockouts but that doesn’t even begin to tell the story.

To say Smith has faced top flight competition is an understatement. He has taken on the likes of Dennis Sharpe (13-0-1); Ian Gardner (12-1); Shaun George (8-0-1); Artur Shekhmurzov (10-0-1); Chuck Cavallo (2-0); Max Alexander (2-0); Wayne Johnsen (8-0); Henry Buchannan (11-0); Nick Cook (14-1); Mike Paschall (10-0); Curtis Stevens (14-1); Andre Ward (11-0); Adonis Stevenson (10-0) ; Kingsley Ikeke (23-3); Jerson Ravelo (18-3); Jesus Gonzalez (25-1); Cornelius White (16-1); Marco Antonio Periban (14-0)

He has victories over Henry Mayes (5-0); Brandon Mitchum (25-4-1); Jonathan Reid (34-6); John Johnson (12-1); Former world Super Middleweight champion Jeff Lacy (25-3).

Smith won the Pennsylvania state title with a ten round unanimous decision over Tony Ferrante on May 4th, 2012. In his last bout, Smith dropped a ten round unanimous decision to Umberto Savigne (9-1) on November 30, 2012.

Caputo Smith Kennett Square, PA has a record of 13-1 with ten knockouts is a fan favorite in the Delaware area. He turned pro in 2009 and the twenty-seven year old won his first thirteen bouts before being stopped by Kevin Engel on August 31, 2012.

Seeing action in the six round co-feature will be popular lightweight Victor Vasquez.

Vasquez of Philadelphia has a record of 16-7-1 with seven knockouts and is always in action packed fights.
Vasquez has quality wins over Thomas McCuiston (1-0), Tyric Robinson (9-4-1) and Angel Rios (9-5). The “Blood and Guts” Warrior of Philadelphia has been in many memorable scraps. He is coming off a six round unanimous decision over Esteban Rodriguez on January 26th at Harrahs Philadelphia. This will be his 7th bout at Harrahs Philadelphia.

Vazquez ‘opponent will be announced shortly.

Appearing in six round bout’s against opponents to be named will be Jr. Welterweight Julio Dejesus (7-3-3, 4 KO’s) of Chester, PA; Undefeated Middleweight Thomas “Cornflake”LaManna (10-0, 6 KO’s) of Millville, PA; Super Bantamweight Alex Barbosa (4-1-1, 1 KO) of Philadelphia);

In four round bouts will be Welterweight Anthony Prescott (1-1-1, 1 KO) of Cherry Hill, NJ; Female Jr. Welterweight Althea Saunders (3-0-1) of Atlantic City and Former UFC star Waylon Lowe of Philadelphia who will be making his pro debut.

YUSAF MACK TO TAKE ON SABOU BALLOGOU ON JULY 7TH AT THE PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER IN PHILADELPHIA‏

YUSAF MACK TO TAKE ON SABOU BALLOGOU ON JULY 7TH AT THE PENNSYLVANIA CONVENTION CENTER IN PHILADELPHIA
Plus Philly Favorites Dhafir Smith, Tim Witherspoon Jr., Eric Hunter, Wahid Raheem, Tyrone Crawley Jr, Alex Barbosa and More as well as some of Philadelphia’s finest amateurs

On Saturday night July 7th at the beautiful Pennsylvania Convention Center, James Shuler Gym Promotions presents a night of boxing that will feature some of the best boxers in Philadelphia.

In the main event, Former world title challenger and currant USBA Light Heavyweight champion, Yusaf Mack will take on upset minded Sabou Ballogou in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Mack of Philadelphia has a record of 30-4-2 with seventeen knockouts and is coming an impressive performance when he scored an emphatic twelve round unanimous decision over former four-time world title challenger Omar Sheika on April 28th in Atlantic City.

Mack previously challenged for the IBF World championship and gave undefeated champion Tavoris Cloud all he wanted before being stopped in the eighth round.

Mack has victories over Donnell Wiggins (21-4-2); Jose Juan Vasquez (16-1-1); Daniel Judah (22-2-3) & Chris Henry (23-1)

Mack’s only setbacks have been to world champions Cloud, Alejandro Berrio, Glen Johnson and former world title challenger Librado Andrade.

Ballogou of Paris, France has a record of 8-5 with three knockouts.

He is a former IBC International and IBF Pan African Middleweight champion and is coming off a performance when he dropped an eight round unanimous decision to highly regarded and undefeated Derrick Webster in what was Ballogou’s American debut.

In that bout, Ballogou dropped Webster twice in round seven and Webster seemed seconds away from being knocked out before the bell rang to signal the end of the round. Webster was able to compose himself and hang on for the victory.

In the six round co-feature, newly crowned Pennsylvania Light Heavyweight champion Dhafir Smith (26-22-7, 4 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on Bobby Jordan (8-3-1, 4 KO’s) of Norfolk, VA.

In a four round Featherweight bout, former U.S. Olympic Alternate Eric Hunter (15-2, 8 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on Jason Rorie (6-15-2, 3 KO’s) of Winston-Salem, NC

All below bouts are four rounders:

Tim Witherspoon Jr. (6-2-1, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on Cassius Clay (0-3) in a Lightweight bout

Alex Barbosa (3-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia takes on an opponent to be announced in a Bantamweight bout.

Tyrone Crawley Jr. (2-0) of Philadelphia takes on an opponent to be announced in a Welterweight bout

Wahid Raheem (3-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia takes on Isaac Suarez (7-1, 3 KO’s) of Lancaster, PA

Kareem Macfarland (1-0, 1 KO) takes on Saud Clark (1-0, 1 KO) in a battle of Philadelphia based Welterweights.

Terrell James will make his pro debut against Terrell Boggs (0-4) of Philadelphia in a Jr. Middleweight bout.

Greg Jackson will make his pro debut against Vaughn Anderson (0-2) of Philadelphia in a Jr. Middleweight bout.

Corey Morley will make his pro debut against Randy Easton (0-0-1) of Williamsport, PA in a Heavyweight bout.

Orlando Lewis (4-2, 4 KO’s) of Vineland, New Jersey will make his return after a four year hiatus when he takes part in a Jr. Middleweight bout.
