Delgado and Hudson-Webb Talk About New Promotion!

Delgado Boxing Promotions, in Association with Mezereon Management,
will be promoting their first show on July 21, 2012, at The Buckhead Theatre. “This opportunity could not come at a better time,” stated Paul Delgado. After winning the WBF North American Title in December of 2011, Paul has not been back in the ring. “I continued to train, hoping for an opportunity to come my way. When things didn’t connect, I focused more on my gym. I’ve
been working with my clients and boxers, and I did some interviews with CNN to promote my business. My goal was always to start my own promotion in my hometown to give back to the community, but I never expected it to happen this soon.” In the months that followed Delgado’s North American title championship, the phone began to ring with calls interested in acquiring Delgado on cards away from home. Although the fights paid well they were on short notice. Delgado’s interest was not in the monetary gain only. He wanted to fight again in front of his hometown crowd and fans. He also wanted to follow the path of his WBF championship back in December. Taking all his options into consideration, Delgado decided it was time to make a move on his promotion albeit sooner than he had anticipated. Delgado’s manager, Lisa Hudson Webb of Mezereon recalls. “I remember Paul calling me one day very excited saying, ‘Let’s just go ahead and do this. Let’s promote our own show and I’ll defend my WBF title in my own backyard.’ He was ready to move on it, he’s been thinking about it for a while, so we’ve put it in motion.” Not only does the debut of ATL Boxing feature a title bout between Delgado and Mike Ruiz, the show spotlights some of the best undefeated talent in the Southeast. The card carries seven professional bouts, including one of Georgia’s favorite female boxers, Jackie Breitenstein. Three of the boxers on the card have a combined record of 31-0: Jared Robinson (10-0), Michael Seals (11-0), and Brian Howard (9-0). In action will also be, local Mexican mega attraction Jesus “La Sombra” Tavera (4-1), Tim “The Boss” Hall, and Jose Felix. All of which have fought some of the toughest boxers in the area. With the caliber of boxers together on one card, no one is going to leave disappointed by any of these performances. There will be a short intermission show of three outstanding amateur boxing bouts: Yusef Shabazz, Elijah Shabazz, and a special Delgado Boxer, cancer survivor Lionel Harris.
