SHOWTIME SPORTS® TAKES VIEWERS INTO THE LIVES OF FLOYD MAYWEATHER & CANELO ALVAREZ WITH ALL ACCESS MAYWEATHER VS. CANELO

SHOWTIME Sports will offer the latest chapter of its award winning original documentary series ALL ACCESS in advance of the boxing event of the year - "THE ONE:Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez". ALL ACCESS: Mayweather vs. Canelo will take viewers into the dramatic and often unpredictable lives of the two superstars at the epicenter of one of the biggest sporting events of the year. The series premieres Saturday, Aug. 24 at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT on SHOWTIME, preceding the live SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING event headlined by Abner Mares vs. Jhonny Gonzalez.

"THE ONE: Mayweather vs. Canelo," a four-fight SHOWTIME PPV^® event, will take place Saturday, Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Renowned documentarian Ross Greenburg returns as executive producer on ALL ACCESS: Mayweather vs. Canelo, which features the series' trademark approach that allows its subjects to guide the narrative on real terms.
The series offers an intimate portrait of Mayweather and Canelo, and their respective camps, as they embark on an unprecedented 10-city, two-country media tour to formally announce the most highly anticipated boxing event in recent memory. Viewers join the two superstars with unparalleled access as they jet set across North America amid rabid fanfare - an estimated 125,000 fans came out to the 10 press conferences over the nine-day journey.

Viewers are introduced to emerging superstar Canelo like never before. Witness the Mexican national hero as he's greeted by an estimated crowd of more than 30,000 excitable fans at the Mexico City stop on the press tour. Then follow his transition from the hectic media and fan blitz to the respite of family life in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Canelo explores his Mexican roots and revisits the gym where he started his career with trainer Jose "Chepo" Reynoso and manager Eddie Reynoso, the two men who have guided Canelo to the pinnacle of the sport.

Through the four episodes of ALL ACCESS, SHOWTIME cameras are entrenched in the fighters' training camps as they prepare for "THE ONE". Viewers will experience the contrast between Mayweather's Las Vegas based training camp and Canelo's retreat to the quiet focus in Big Bear, Calif., as both men prepare for boxing's biggest fight in nearly a decade.

Mayweather Promotions, Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions officially announced today that Undisputed Super Lightweight World Champion Danny "Swift" Garcia and WBC Interim Super Lightweight World Champion Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse will meet in a decisive bout which will anchor the undercard of the biggest boxing event in years, "THE ONE: Mayweather vs. Canelo" on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, live on SHOWTIME PPV^®.

If Mayweather vs. Canelo is "THE ONE" fight for boxing fans worldwide, then the highly anticipated Garcia vs. Matthysse is "THE ONE-A." Garcia, the undefeated WBC, WBA Super and The Ring Magazine World Champion, has emerged as the division's dominant force over the last 18 months by dismantling world champions Amir Kahn, Zab Judah and Mexican legend Erik Morales twice. Matthysse burst on to the world stage in May by seizing the scoring an electrifying knockout of highly skilled World Champion Lamont Peterson. The third-round knockout of Peterson put the world on notice that Matthysse's power was to be feared and that The Machine was rising to the division's top spot.

Now, the fight that has been called potentially "mind blowing" (Yahoo! Sports), could steal the show of a mega-event headlined by the world's pound-for-pound king, Mayweather, and a young fighter who many have tapped as boxing's next global star, Canelo.

"This is the fight I wanted and the fight that I asked for. That is why I'm so happy this fight has been made and will be a part of this huge event," said Danny Garcia. Garcia (26-0, 20 KO's) is a popular and crowd-pleasing fighter in the prime of his career. In his last start, the 25-year-old boxer-puncher registered one knockdown en route to successfully defending his 140-pound titles with a clear, hard-fought unanimous decision win over former Four-Time World Champion Judah on April 27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The victory over Judah continued Garcia's streak of sensational performances against high-profile opposition that began a year earlier when he defeated the legendary Morales the first time via a unanimous decision to capture the WBC world title. The following July, Garcia shocked Khan and the boxing world with a stunning fourth-round technical knockout of the British superstar to add the WBA Super and Ring Magazine World Championships to his collection. On Oct. 20, 2012, Garcia knocked Morales out with a hellacious left hook in the fourth round of their rematch. A 2008 U.S. Olympic Team alternate, Garcia is a physically strong, durable and determined young fighter who is poised and patient in the ring who has fought current or past world champions in his last six fights: Judah, Khan, Morales twice, Kendall Holt and Nate Campbell.

The demand for Garcia vs. Matthysse began immediately after Matthysse brutally knocked out Peterson, dropping him three times, this past May 18 in Atlantic City, N.J.

Matthysse (34-2, 32 KO's), who is rated No. 1 at 140 lbs. by The RING Magazine, has scored a staggering 94 percent of his wins by knockout, one of the highest KO percentages for a world champion in history. The 30-year-old hails from Trelew, Argentina and has won six fights in a row by knockout. In his last nine fights, he has fought five world champions defeating Peterson (TKO 3), Humberto Soto (TKO 5) and DeMarcus Corley (TKO 8) and losing extremely close, questionable 10-round split decisions against Devon Alexander and Judah in his opponents' home towns. Many observers think he deserved to win both of those fights. Matthysse, who constantly pressures his opponents and wears them down, was also a solid amateur boxer in his native Argentina.

The most compelling and anticipated fight in boxing is officially set as the sport's No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter, undefeated Eight-Time, Five-Division World ChampionFloyd "Money" Mayweather will face undefeated Mexican star and Super Welterweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez in "THE ONE: MAYWEATHER VS. The marquee matchup was initially announced by Mayweather via his Twitter account on May 29 setting the sports world abuzz. The bout will be a Super Welterweight World Championship contested for the WBC, WBA Super, WBA and Ring Magazine Super Welterweight World Championships on Mexican Independence Day weekend, one of the two biggest weekends on the boxing calendar. The fight will be promoted by Mayweather Promotions, Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions.

The event is sponsored by Corona, O'Reilly Auto Parts and Valvoline and will be produced and distributed live by SHOWTIME PPV^® beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. The event can be heard in Spanish using secondary audio programming (SAP).

Mayweather, who usually campaigns at 147 pounds, chose the younger and bigger Canelo as his opponent for the second bout of his new contract with Showtime Networks Inc. and its parent company, CBS Corporation.

"I picked Canelo because he deserves the chance and is the best opponent possible for me at this time," said Mayweather, who is coming off of a near shutout win on May 4 over Six-Time and Four-Division World Champion Robert Guerrero. "When I signed my new deal with Showtime and CBS, I said I was going to stay active and fight the best fighters and I am keeping my word. I looked at several different fighters and decided to pick Canelo because he can give me a great fight and one the fans are going to appreciate. Sure it's a risk to fight a guy that is younger and bigger than me, but I love taking risks. Be ready because I'm in fantastic shape and I'm going to train even harder for this fight than I did for my last one. He might be a big, young, strong and talented champion, but my experience and work ethic make me believe that I'm that much better and no one in boxing can beat me right now."

Canelo is coming off of a unanimous decision win over then WBA World Champion Austin Trout in front of a sold-out crowd of nearly 40,000 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on April 20. The young champion has been soliciting to fight Mayweather for some time and is excited to challenge boxing's best fighter in what could be a career-defining fight for the Mexican superstar.

It all started with a Tweet on May 29...

"I chose my opponent for September 14," wrote Floyd "Money" Mayweather, "and it's Canelo Alvarez. I'm giving the fans what they want. It will be at the MGM Grand."

With that, the biggest fight of 2013 became a reality, as Mayweather, boxing's reigning pound for pound king, will put his perfect 44-0 record on the line against Mexican superstar and undefeated Canelo in a Super Welterweight World Championship Unification bout. Tickets for the highly anticipated mega-fight go on sale Tuesday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 p.m. PT.

Tickets will be priced at $2,000, $1,500, $1,000, $600 and $350, not including applicable service charges, with a total ticket limit of 12 per person, a limit of 10 per person at the $2,000, $1,500, $1,000, $600 and $350 price levels and a limit of two per person at the $350 price level.
