All four fighters participating in Friday’s ShoBox: The New Generation doubleheader made weight at the Coast Nightclub at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss., on Thursday, just one day before the exciting night of fights on SHOWTIME^® (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast).

In the main event former undisputed 160-pound World Champion Jermain Taylor (29-4-1, 18 KO’s) weighed in at 160.5 pounds, while his undefeated opponent Caleb "Golden" Truax (18-0-1, 10 KO’s) tipped the scales at 160.75 pounds for their 10-round middleweight bout. In the 10-round junior middleweight co-feature, former Cuban amateur standout Erislandy Lara (15-1-1, 10 KO’s) weighed 156.5 pounds and former world title challengerRonald Hearns (26-2, 20 KO’s) 156.25 pounds for the fight contracted at 157 pounds.

JERMAIN TAYLOR:

“I just want to say thank you to my team. I'm back in love with boxing. I can't say it any other way. After losing in Berlin, I took two years off. They were the best two years of my life, because I’m hungry again.

“I've been boxing since I was 11 and I never took a break. Never. When I lost those fights, it was time for me to take a break. I spent time with my family and for the first time in a long time, I missed boxing. Now, I'm back. I feel strong. I took care of business in December and I'm going take care of business tomorrow.

“I love this sport because I'm a fighter. And this is the only sport where you can lose, get knocked out, look bad and then fight your way back to the top. You can get down real low and you can still come back and be on top. I'm on my way back.”

CALEB TRUAX:

“I've prepared for the man that beat Bernard Hopkins but we'll see where Jermain's at tomorrow. I think he might be on the decline but that's not who I prepared for so I'm ready.

“This is where I wanted to be with my career, in a big fight. Being from Minnesota, I don't get all the opportunities to fight in California and New York or other big places. This is the biggest opportunity of my life and I plan to take advantage of it. Everything went well in my preparations. All I have to do is go in there tomorrow and get the job done.”

NEW YORK – Undefeated world middleweight contender “Ireland’s” John Duddy returns to the ring June 28 with a new head trainer in his corner, Pat Burns, in the 10-round main event against Charles Howe, headlining “Hassle In The Castle” at The Castle in Boston.

Duddy (24-0, 17 KOs), a native of County Derry in N. Ireland, lives and fights out of Queens, New York. He is rated No. 2 by the WBC and No. 3 by the WBO, as well as No. 5 by the WBA and No. 10 by the IBF. Burns trained Jermain Taylor to the world middleweight title. Howe (17-4-2, 9 KOs), fighting out of Ohio, is coming off of the only loss in his last 14 fights, dating back nearly eight years, to WBC USNBC champion Joey Gilbert in their title fight last September.

“We’re returning to Boston out of appreciation to all of his fans there,” Irish Ropes Promotions president Eddie McLoughlin said. “John has a lot of friends in Boston and he sold out The Castle 2 ½ years ago when he beat Julio Jean. There are a lot of Irish and Irish-Americans living there and we’ve received countless requests to return. We’re excited to be coming back on June 28 and John will be fighting for the first time with Pat Burns as his head trainer.”

South Boston middleweight Donald Orr (12-0, 5 KOs), 2000 Canadian Olympian, is scheduled to fight in the 8-round co-feature. On the undercard against opponents to be determined are Worcester (MA) middleweight prospect Edwin Rodriguez (6-0, 5 KOs), 2-time U.S. National amateur champion, faces his stiffest test to date in Marcus Upshaw (8-1, 3 KOs); Boston by way of Clare, Ireland cruiserweight Mark Clancy (7-0-1, 1 KO), 4-time Irish National amateur finalist; Lynn (MA) junior welterweight Simeon Dunwell (7-0, 2 KOs) and Philadelphia super featherweight Frank Trader (1-0, 0 KOs). Middleweights showcased on “Hassle In The Castle” Duddy-Howe headlining June 28th show in Boston

NEW YORK– Middleweights will be showcased June 28 on “Hassle In The Castle,” presented by Irish Ropes Promotions, headlined by the 10-round main event between undefeated world middleweight contender “Ireland’s” John Duddy in his first fight with new head trainer in his corner, Pat Burns, against Charles Howe (17-4-2, 9 KOs), at The Castle in downtown Boston.

The WBC and WBO No. 2 rated Duddy (24-0, 17 KOs), a native of County Derry in N. Ireland, lives and fights out of Queens, New York, heads a stellar cast of 160-pounders on the card, including unbeaten rising star Donald Orr (12-0, 5 KOs), 2000 Canadian Olympian, and red-hot prospect Edwin Rodriguez (6-0, 5 KOs).

Orr, now living in South Boston, faces former Mexican Pacific Coast champion Roberto “El Viejo” Valenzuela (44-37-2, 37 KOs), in the 8-round co-feature. Valenzuela has been in against the likes of Andre Berto, Ben Tackie and Demetrius Hopkins, to name a few of the more notables.

In the chief supporting bout on the undercard, 2-time U.S. National amateur champion Rodriguez, of Worcester (MA), steps up in class to fight dangerous Hector Hernandez (10-2-2, 4 KOs) in a 6-round bout.

Also on the undercard in a pair of 6-rounders, Boston by way of Ireland cruiserweight Mark Clancy (7-0-1, 1 KO), 4-time Irish National amateur finalist, faces Salah Zabian (6-10, 4 KOs), of Lee (MA); Lynn (MA) junior welterweight Simeon Dunwell (7-0, 2 KOs) meets Aaron Drake (13-6, 9 KOs). Anthony Accardo (1-0, 1 KO) squares off against Brooklyn by way of Guyana junior welterweight Olade “One Shot” Thomas (1-3) in a 4-round match.
