SANTANA vs. GARCIA - HERNANDEZ vs. WINCHESTER ShoBox televised doubleheader at beautiful Gulfstream Park on Friday in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

Trevor Bryan: “I told everyone my jab is my strongest punch.  I pumped it up with my double jab and I set my man up.

“I had him [Hassan Lee] in the first round but I need to listen to my corner more.  I needed to pick up my punch count and improve my defense.  I’m the ‘American Dream.’  I’m ready to go.”

Oleg Platov:  “It was great to be back after two years.  I had promotional problems but that is over now and I thank Don King for becoming my new promoter.

“It was beautiful to fight outdoors in Florida.  Harold Sconiers was good tonight.  We had an accidental clash of head that caused the gash outside my left eye.  But he gave me good work.

“My coach told me between the first and second round that I should throw the uppercut.  I was throwing too wide.  I threw the uppercut in the second round and my opponent walked right into it.  It was great to come back with a knockout.   Tell everyone Oleg Platov is back.”

Amir Imam:  “He [Tony Walker] was a tough opponent, no sucker.  I out-toughed him and out-skilled him.  I got the stoppage and that’s all that matters.

“I have superior skills and techniques that most other fighters don’t have.  I’m old school.  I study the old masters like Joe Gans from the 1800s.  He was an old master and that’s why they call me the ‘Young Master.’

Joey Hernandez:  “He [James Winchester] was a little awkward.  He led with his head a lot.  I did what I had to do and now it’s on to bigger and better things.

“He was a tough guy, gave me good rounds.  I would have liked to have thrown more combinations but I was being mindful of being headbutted.

James Winchester:  “I think I won the fight.  He [Joey Hernandez] stepped on my foot when I fell and kept hitting me behind the head.

“But you know what?  It’s cool.  This is his hometown crowd and now this crowd respects me.”

Angelo Santana:  “I was able to knock him [Johnny Garcia] out and that was my intention.  He was a very strong opponent but I was able to stop him.

“This performance says it all for me.  This proves I am ready.

“I felt nervous at the beginning as this was my first national TV appearance.  I needed a round to gain my composure.  But I was in front of my people and they supported me and that is something beautiful.
“I was waiting for him to gain confidence and attack me because he was the taller fighter.  Once he did that I was able to unload my left hand.  I came looking for my fight and he was the one who hurried up.”

WSB broadens its worldwide appeal with new Franchise in Africa

World Series of Boxing (WSB) is delighted to announce its presence on yet another continent with the Algeria Desert Hawks set to bring the excitement of the world's premiere team boxing to Africa.

With representation across the globe in the Americas (Argentina, Mexico and the USA), Europe (Azerbaijan, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Russia and Ukraine) and Asia (Kazakhstan), WSB will now be exploring new horizons in Season III with the competition debuting in Africa, a land whose heart beats for the sport of boxing.

Fully supported by the Algerian Boxing Federation (FAB) and represented by some of the country's top talent, the Algeria Desert Hawks will compete in Group A alongside Russia, Azerbaijan Baku Fires, Argentina Condors, Hussars Poland and Mexico Guerreros. The draw has handed them a tricky opener, away to Russia on Sunday 18 November to face last season's finalists.

"After Argentina, Ukraine, Poland and Great Britain, I am extremely pleased to welcome another new Franchise to World Series of Boxing Season III, especially one from a continent that has not yet tasted WSB", stated Dr Ching-Kuo Wu, Chairman of the WSB Board. "We all know how passionate Africa is for sport and especially for boxing. I cannot wait to witness the very best African boxers taking to the ring to make their continent proud."

"We are excited at joining World Series of Boxing", expressed Dr Abdellah Bessalem, President of the Algerian Boxing Federation. "We have been discussing this opportunity for a few months as we wanted to propose alternative career paths to our best boxers. Having this Algerian Boxing Team (Desert Hawks) competing in WSB is only the very first step of the involvement of the African continent in AIBA's initiatives since we are convinced that WSB and the AIBA Professional Boxing (APB) are the future of the sport of boxing."

Follow the fights LIVE and interactive on www.worldseriesboxingtv.com.
Please note that it is WSB's goal to provide the live streaming and delayed footages in as many countries around the globe as possible. However, due to a variety of reasons which include government internet and TV rights restrictions, there will be instances where blocks on viewers will be applied in specific territories. Undefeated Don King Prospect Angelo ‘La Cobra’ Santana Makes First Television Appearance On Friday, Nov. 16 Live on ShoBox Doubleheader From Gulfstream Park In Hallandale Beach, Fla.
SHOWTIME-Televised Doubleheader: Undefeated Omar ‘Oh!’ Henry Vs. ‘King’ James de la Rosa Santana to Take on Fellow Unbeaten Juan ‘Johnny’ Garcia

Don King hosted a press conference today at the historic Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., where he will present two of his top undefeated prospects in separate bouts during a televised doubleheader on ShoBox: The New Generation on Friday, Nov. 16 (live on SHOWTIME 11 p.m. ET/PT).  Undefeated junior middleweight contender Omar “Oh!” Henry (12-0-1, 9 KOs), from Chicago, will face “King” James de la Rosa (21-1, 12 KOs), from San Benito, Texas, Angelo “La Cobra” Santana (13-0, 10 KOs), from Miami, and Juan “Johnny” Garcia (13-0, 8 KOs), from Holland, Mich., will meet in a collision of unbeaten lightweight contenders.

King’s press conference featured Santana, 24, a two-time Cuban national champion who has fought professionally out of Miami since 2008.  He has stopped his last six opponents within four rounds.

Santana will face a serious test from Garcia, whose greatest claim to fame came when he outpointed previously undefeated Cuban Yordenis Ugas on March 23.

“I know Garcia is coming to fight but so am I,” said Santana, who’s coming off a career-best victory, a third-round technical knockout over highly regarded Justin Savi on June 23.  “It is our hope that this fight does not go to the judges’ scorecards.  I’m ready to rumble. This will be a good fight for as long as it lasts.”

Eighty-one-year-old Hall of Fame promoter Don King is looking forward to promoting his first event at South Florida’s Gulfstream Park, which in recent years has added a beautiful casino and an exciting indoor-outdoor shopping and dining area known as The Village.

“Gulfstream Park is bigger and better than ever,” said King, whose offices are located in nearby Deerfield Beach.  “The outdoor area where we will erect the ring over a fountain will make for one of the most intimate and elegant fight venues ever.  South Florida fight fans will love it and it will look great on SHOWTIME.”
