Derek Ennis says He's using 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius Andrade as Springboard

NABO Junior Middleweight Title Fight Feb. 10 on ESPN FNF live from Mohegan Sun
Philadelphia junior middleweight Derek "Pooh" Ennis plans to use unbeaten 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade as a springboard February 10 in their main event fight for the vacant North American Boxing Organization ("NABO") title.
Andrade-Ennis headlines the Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing show on ESPN Friday Night Fights at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The 10-round bout has future world title belt implications for the winner.
Andrade (15-0, 10 KOs), fighting out of nearby Providence, in addition to being an
Andrade is rapidly climbing the ratings ladder, currently ranked in the top 15 of all four major governing bodies: No. 9 by the World Boxing Organization ("WBO"), No. 13 by the International Boxing Federation ("IBF") and World Boxing Council ("WBC") and No. 15 by the World Boxing Association ("WBA"). He is co-promoted by Star Boxing and Banner Promotions.
The confident 5' 8" Ennis (23-3-1, 13 KOs), a former USBA title-holder who is rated No. 9 by the IBF, believes a victory against Andrade will put him right back into the junior middleweight picture. "I'm just looking at this as another fight," Ennis said. "But, as soon as I beat him, I'm right back on top. I really don't know too much about him other than he's tall (6' 1") and a southpaw.
"Coming from Philly, I have a good name or persona, so everybody knows I'm coming to fight. People are going to see a lot of speed and pressure put on by me in a world-class fight."
Ennis' most significant victory to date was against another relatively tall Olympian, 6' 1" world title challenger Ermosele Albert (22-3-1), of Nigeria, by way of a12-round decisions in 2009 for the vacant USBA championship.
"This fight is a great opportunity for us," Ennis' co-manager Moe Gonzalez (E & M Management) noted. "We know he's in tough against this kid, but Derek is tough, too. They better not think they have a cakewalk, Derek is coming to fight. He doesn't have problems with southpaws or taller guys. Derek really gets up for fights like this and he'll be ready."

ANDRADE LOOKING TO MAKE STATEMENT AGAINST DANGEROUS BREWER IN MAIN EVENT ON ESPN'S FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS
"Demetrius has been asking us for this type of fight," stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and President of Star Boxing, co-promoter of Andrade with Banner Promotions. "A fight where he can show everyone what we already know, that he is a future world champion. Not only is he taking this dangerous fight, but he is taking it on very short notice. An impressive showing on the 19th will propel Demetrius from an upcoming prospect to true contender and serious force to be reckoned with in the jr. middleweight division."
Critics and naysayers are a very common in the sport of boxing. Every fight fan who has ever watched a live fight, automatically believes they are an expert of the sport. Way too often, as an up and coming prospect is making his STAR BOXINGway through the ranks, these so-called boxing experts will quickly become impatient and start criticizing the prospects talent and skills, his level of opposition, and his progression.
Since turning pro in late 2008 with a second round TKO over Patrick Cape, Andrade has experienced this. Having stopped nine of his thirteen opponents, seven in two rounds or less, and losing only a handful of rounds on the official judge's scorecards in his other four decision victories, it is clear that Andrade has been extremely dominant. This domination has led people to believe that Andrade has been matched too softly, despite his opponents having a sixty five percent win to loss ratio, including three of which were previously undefeated fighters, and five more over with just one loss on their record's.
Now Andrade will be looking to make a huge statment to the boxing world when he squares off against the very dangerous Brewer. In addition to winning the Contender Tournament by defeating former world champion Steve Forbes, Brewer holds victories over current IBF Jr. Middleweight Champion, Cornelius Bundrage and is coming off his most impressive victory to date, a fourth round TKO over highly regarded Fernando Guerrero (21-0, 16KO's at the time) in June of this year.
"I'm ready to put on an exciting performance come August 19th," stated Andrade. "Brewer is a tough opponent, but I am just too fast and too strong for him, and everyone will see that fight night. This is a huge fight for me, as a win will propel me into the world ratings, and put me in line to start facing the top fighters in the jr. middleweight division."
The Andrade-Brewer bout is scheduled for ten rounds in the jr. middleweight division and is promoted by Star Boxing and Banner Promotions. ESPN will begin live coverage starting at 9PM ET.

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE SENSATIONAL IN PRO-DEUBT
DEMETRIUS ANDRADE
Andrade, the first 2008 U.S. Olympian to make his pro-debut, came out stalking Cape from the opening bell, measuring his opponent up with his long jab. When Andrade got close enough he would unleash a devastating left hand right down the middle that repeatedly snapped Cape's head back and had him reeling just seconds into the fight. Cape realizing that he would not stand a chance with Andrade by staying on the outside attempted to get in close and tie up Andrade. Showing tremendous poise and ring generalship, especially for someone making their pro- debut, Andrade would flurry while on the inside with crisp combinations to both the head and body not allowing his opponent to get a breather. At the end of the first round with Cape holding his right arm, Andrade unleashed two thundering left hooks to the body, followed by an overhand left that dropped Cape for the count of nine. The left to the head was what put Cape down, but the second left hook to the body was the real damaging blow. Cape was literally saved by the bell as the round ended before the referee could signal the resumption of the ring hostilities.
Andrade began the second round going right at Cape looking to put him away. A straight left hand landed flush on Cape's jaw while was trying to pull away and Cape went down immediately. Rather then even start his count the referee called a halt to the contest at :24 seconds of the second round.
It was a great showing for the highly touted, former amateur world champion. Although it was just his first fight, for those watching it was hard to disagree with the notion that Andrade is truly something special. Look for Andrade to be back in action very shortly.
