COMING THIS SUMMER CHRISTY MARTIN vs. MIA ST. JOHN II TWO CHAMPIONS IN THEIR FINAL BLOCKBUSTER BATTLE

Ever since it gained worldwide notice in 1996, women’s boxing has produced a series of great fighters, but two iconic names stand above the rest – Christy Martin and Mia St. John.

This summer, nearly a decade after their first bout in 2002, Martin and St. John will meet again, in FINAL VICTORY, only this time the stakes will be even higher, as these two champions will fight for the final time and it will be for the WBC World Super Welterweight Belt in a big night of championship boxing on Tuesday evening, June 19th that will be presented by Table Mountain Casino, in association with Roy Englebrecht Promotions.

For Martin, this is her opportunity to reach the 50-win milestone against a heated rival looking to keep her from that mark. More importantly, it will be a fitting celebration of a career and life thought to be over when “The Coal Miner’s Daughter” was allegedly shot and stabbed by her ex-husband Jim in 2010. Yet despite the odds, Martin not only survived, but she returned to the ring in 2011. Now she wants to finish the most memorable career in women’s boxing history by defeating St. John. “I am excited about this opportunity to get my 50th win against Mia St John to finish my career,” said Martin. “I am honored to fight for the WBC World Title at Table Mountain Casino and look forward to becoming a World Champion once again. This time I will KO Mia, that’s as good a guarantee as you get.”

St. John has her own reasons for wanting this fight, and the way she sees it, this matchup is all about respect and redemption. In 2002, despite her stellar 26-1-1 record, it took an exciting 10 round war with Martin to earn the acclaim from the boxing world that she deserved. Since then, “The Knockout” has continued to be one of the sport’s great ambassadors, in and out of the ring, and all that’s left for her is to even the score with her greatest rival in Christy Martin. “I’ve waited nearly 10 years for this rematch,” stated St John. “I know I out-boxed Christy in the last fight, but this time I am going to BEAT her. Now we’ll see who the real WBC Champion is, La Gallina or La Guerrera.”

“Since I promoted my first female pro boxing bout in December of 1995 on a Battle In The Ballroom show at the Irvine Marriott, I am proud to say that Roy Englebrecht Promotions has promoted more female boxing bouts than any other fight promoter in history,” stated Englebrecht. “To now have the opportunity, with the FINAL VICTORY show, to work with and promote two boxing, if not sports icons, in Christy and Mia, is an honor and privilege, and believe me fight fans in the Central Valley will be in for a special evening when these two ladies meet in the ring with a legitimate world championship on the line.”

The Final Victory show which will also include four undercard bouts will be held in the Events Center at Table Mountain Casino in Friant, California, which is located just 15 miles outside Fresno. Tickets for this night of championship boxing will be priced at $70 VIP, $65 Gold, and $55 General Admission, and will go on sale on May 7th at 12 noon at www.tmcasino.com or at Table Mountain Casino. Doors will open at 6pm with the first bout scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, and you must be 18 years or older to attend the show.

Needless to say, this event is as historic as it is compelling, making it the must see fight of the Summer of 2012.

Holly “The Preachers Daughter” Holm will take on Anne Sophie Mathis for ‘World Dominance’ Announced Dec. 2 at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque

Right after she registered her 30th career victory last night, promoter Lenny Fresquez announced that Holly “The Preachers Daughter” Holm will take on Anne Sophie Mathis -- the top two pound-for-pound female boxers in the world -- December 2 for “World Dominance,” at the Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque.

Holm dominated all 10-rounds en route to unanimous decision (100-90 X 3) victory last night against aggressive Victoria Cisneros at Route 66 Casino Hotel.

Holm (30-1-3, 9 KOs) will try to regain her IBA Welterweight title and WBAN Championship Belt in the 10-round main event against Mathis (23-1, 20 KOs), the WBO European Welterweight Champion from France. Holm-Mathis, presented by Fresquez Productions, is a modern day match-up between the consummate boxer, southpaw Holm, and knockout specialist, Mathis, who will be fighting outside of Europe for the first time.

“This has all the makings of an instant classic, potentially one of the greatest fights in women’s boxing history,” Fresquez said. “Holly has exhausted all of her competitive options in the U.S., fighting just about every legitimate title challenger – 11 world champions – and now she wants to test herself against the best European fighter, Ann Sophie Mathis. It promises to be a memorable night for boxing fans all over the world, not just women’s boxing fans.”

Holm’s only loss was in 2004 and she’s won 23 of 24 fights since with one draw. A multiple world champion in three different divisions (light welterweight, welterweight and light middleweight), Holly has defeated all of the significant names in women’s boxing from the 140 through 154-pound classes, including Christy Martin, Mary Jo Sanders, Mia St. John, Jane Couch, Duda Yankovich and Chevelle Hallback (twice).

Mathis is riding a 22-fight win streak, dating back to 1995 when she lost in her second pro fight, and she’s a two-time world light welterweight champion. December 2nd will mark the fifth anniversary of her first world title victory, in which she stopped previously unbeaten Myriam Lamare (13-0) for the WBA crown as well as the vacant EBU championship. Ann Sophie’s victims also include Couch, Yankovich, Ana Pascal and Nathalie Toro. EL Boxing Empress See you at the Fights and Thank You for your time. MOHEGAN SUN TO HOST WOMEN'S DOUBLE BILL; Alicia Ashley vs. Lisa Brown and Elena Reid vs. Anastasia Toktaulova, June 12, 2008 on Fox Sports Net’s

International Female Boxers Association (IFBA) title action heads East on Thursday, June 12, 2008 for a show airing on Fox Sports Net’s Best Damn Championship Fight Night Period from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. IFBA junior featherweight champion Lisa “Bad News” Brown (14-3-3, 4 KOs) defends her title belt against Alicia “Slick” Ashley (14-7-1, 1 KO) in the ten-round main event.

IFBA flyweight champion Elena “Baby Doll” Reid (19-4-5, 5 KOs) puts her crown on the line versus Anastasia Toktaulova (12-8, 2 KOs) in the ten-round co-feature.

Elena “Baby Doll” Reid

Three-time world champion Brown, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, now fights out of Toronto, Canada. She captured the IFBA crown 13-months ago with a 10-round decision against Jackie Chavez and successfully defended it February 7 via a 10-round decision versus Jeri “Fists of Fury” Stizes.

Ashley, born in Jamaica and living in Westbury, New York, is a 3-time world champion in three different divisions. Her most notable wins have been against previously unbeaten Alesia Graf, Reid, Bonnie Canino and Leona Brown.

Las Vegas-based Reid, born in Phoenix, captured her IFBA flyweight title by 10-round decision last July against Shin-Hee Choi. “Baby Doll” also fought a 10-round draw three years ago with the great Regina Halmich in Germany.

Toktaulova comes from Moscow, where she was the European super flyweight and bantamweight champion, as well as Russian super flyweight title-holder.

Las Vegas’ unbeaten star Melinda Cooper (18-0, 10 KOs) returns on the undercard after nearly 1 1/2 years of inactivity to take on knockout specialist Donna “Nature Girl” Biggers (19-7-1, 16 KOs) in a special six-round junior featherweight bout. Cooper has had difficulty finding opponents, which accounts for her recent inactivity and only two fights in almost three years, while South Carolina-based Biggers, conversely, has fought some of the best including Layla McCarter, Jelena Mrdjenovich, and Mia St. John.

Stizes (14-7-1, 6 KOs), of Springfield, Missouri, is matched in a six-round bout on the June 12th card against Ela “Bam Bam” Nunez (6-3, 2 KOs), fighting out of Jamestown, New York. Another six-round bout will soon be announced.

Go to www.ifba.com for more information. The undercard will start a 7 PM/ET, followed by the first of three scheduled televised bouts beginning at 8 PM/ET.

“We're delighted to bring our IFBA Championship Boxing series East to beautiful Mohegan Sun,” IFBA president Judy Kulis said. “Many of the world’s top women fighters are on this card and all of the matches promise to be very competitive and exciting. We’re especially happy to have Melinda Cooper’s much-anticipated comeback on this show.”

IFBA

Since its inception in 1997, the IFBA has sanctioned more than 100 women’s title bouts and was the first to sanction all-women’s cards on cable and broadcast television, including ESPN2, USA Network, Pay-Per-View, Fox Sports International and on SBS, MBC and MBC-ESPN in Korea. With the help of various State Boxing Commissions, the IFBA established many of the rules used in the sport today. The IFBA is sanctioning four championship bouts on June 13th, featuring a showdown between Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm and Mary Jo Sanders for the vacant IFBA World junior middleweight title and pound-for-pound supremacy, live on pay-per-view television from Albuquerque.
