On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman focuses on the role of women in the combat sports, and in particular grappling and mixed martial arts.
Kathy Brothers (http://www.kathybrothers.net/) was the first American woman to earn a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She has also been a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion and a two-time Pan American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion, as well as a World Free-Fighting champion and a World Pancration Council champion. She currently is a martial arts instructor in the Dallas, Texas, area.
After an absence of about eight years, Kathy Brothers will be returning to competition this coming Saturday, June 27, at the Grapplers Quest (http://grapplers.com/) All-Star Pro tournament in Morristown, New Jersey. She also will be competing in a Grapplers Quest tournament the weekend of July 10-11 at the UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In a lengthy interview, we spoke with Kathy Brothers about her return to competition. We discussed how and why she decided to begin training in the martial arts, her rich experience in grappling, her desire to fight at a high level in mixed martial arts, how she has overcome the opposition of some to women competing and training in combat sports, and much more.
Also, as bonus coverage, we play an excerpt from a media conference call with mixed martial arts stars Gina Carano and Cris "Cyborg" Santos, who fight each other August 15 in the main event of a Strikeforce card in San Jose, Calif., which will be telecast live in the U.S. on Showtime.

“DiBella Inks Argenis Mendez!!”
New York- DiBella Entertainment has announced the signing of super featherweight Argenis Mendez (13-1-0, 8 KO’s) to their elite roster of athletes.
Promoter Lou DiBella believes that Mendez will do great things in the sport of boxing. “The kid has a bright future,” said DiBella. “He is a truly talented athlete and knows how to conduct himself in the ring. I look forward to working with him.”
Mendez comes from a spectacular amateur background that shows in his refined ring style. He is a 2004 Olympian from the Dominican Republic and won a silver Medal at the 2004 Junior World Championships. Mendez compiled an outstanding record of 238-12 as an amateur.
Mendez is a technical, heavy handed boxer/puncher that is pleasing to watch in the ring. “He is an intelligent fighter,” said Mendez’s manager Jose Nunez. “Argenis is a superior and accurate counterpuncher. I love his style.”
Mendez, already establishing and proving himself as an excellent pro, has been in the ring with the likes of Luis Sosa, Jose Navarrete, Jaime Sandoval and Arturo Gomez.
“I try to take a lesson from each and every fight,” said Mendez. “I keep learning and improving.”

Bernard Fernandez: Chambers is America's heavyweight hope By Bernard Fernandez of the Philadelphia Daily News
EDDIE CHAMBERS intends to celebrate the Fourth of July in the traditional way, which is to say with fireworks and some flag-waving. It's just that he'll be doing it in the ring, and far away from home.Hamburgers may or may not be on a grill anywhere near the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany, but the Pittsburgh-born, Philadelphia-based fighter said he will take the occasion of the United States' 233rd birthday to spectacularly demonstrate that at least one American heavyweight is capable of taking a lead position in what long has been considered boxing's most prestigious division.
"A lot of people say the best U.S. hope among heavyweights is Chris Arreola. I disagree. I say it's me," said Chambers (34-1, 18 KOs), who squares off with Russia's Alexander Dimitrenko (29-0, 19 KOs) in a WBO elimination bout, the winner of which becomes the mandatory contender to WBO/IBF titlist Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 47 KOs), of Ukraine, who is widely considered to be the best heavyweight in the world - at least by those who don't think his older brother, WBC titlist Vitali Klitschko, is more deserving of that designation.
Wladimir Klitschko presumably strengthened his case for occupying the top spot Saturday with an efficient, 10th-round stoppage of Uzbekistan's Ruslan Chagaev, the WBA heavyweight champ "in recess," before a sellout crowd of 61,000-plus in a soccer stadium in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. That fight was seen on an incredible 58.4 percent of all the televisions in use in Germany during its time slot.
There might not be any country where boxing is an easier sell now than in Germany, which is why Chambers is headed back to Deutschland, the site of his only professional defeat. Money talks, and no U.S. TV outlet expressed a serious interest in televising Chambers-Dimitrenko here, there or anywhere.
But by going into an hostile environment and knocking off one of the Eastern Europeans who currently dominate the heavyweight landscape, Chambers, 27, and his manager-trainer, Philly's Rob Murray Sr., hope to demonstrate to HBO and Showtime that "Fast Eddie" is an American big man worthy of their backing. At the very least, Team Chambers intends to return to these shores on a victorious note, which was not the case following Chambers' 12-round, unanimous-decision loss to Russia's Alex Povetkin on Jan. 26, 2008, in Berlin.
In that bout, Chambers had his moments early, but thereafter fought with a curious lack of urgency, which allowed Povetkin to come on in the middle and later rounds.
Chambers replaced his father, Eddie Chambers Sr., as his trainer after that bout with his manager, Murray, who learned some cheesesteak-and-scrapple-flavored tricks of the trade by observing such legendary Philadelphia cornermen as Yank Durham and Sam Solomon. This will be Murray's fifth outing with Chambers in a dual capacity.
"We talk all the time about what went wrong in the Povetkin fight," Murray said. "It's the one that got away. Eddie's mistake was that he prepared for a fight, but not the fight. Nobody in his corner that night knew what buttons to push.
"If I had been in the corner for the Povetkin fight, I would have pushed the right buttons."
Some of those buttons already have been pushed, during Chambers' training camp in the Poconos. Chambers, who weighed 219 1/2 pounds for the Povetkin fight, has gotten down as low as 205 in camp and he said he will enter the ring against Dimitrenko no higher than 211, which would be his lowest weight since Feb. 10, 2006, when he was 211 for a bout with Andrew Greeley at the Blue Horizon.
"Eddie's not only the underdog, he's undersized," Murray noted. "He's fighting for short money. We're going over there to take on these big Russians that nobody else wants to fight. But we're not ducking anybody.
"This is a guy who wants to be the heavyweight champion of the world, not just the heavyweight champion of Pittsburgh or Philadelphia or the state of Pennsylvania. To do that, he has to kick the door down. He's going to do it, too. After Eddie beats Dimitrenko, we want to fight Povetkin again and then both of the Klitschkos."
That's a pretty ambitious agenda for someone who has logged 51.4 percent of his pro bouts at the Blue Horizon, where he is 18-0.
Not always beautiful
So stunningly attractive that she once was featured in a Playboy magazine pictorial, Mia St. John understands that some fight fans never have taken her seriously. She was derided by critics as the "Bunny Boxer," a bit of eye candy who gained prominence as the lead-in to some of Oscar De La Hoya's pay-per-view bouts in the mid- to late 1990s.
"I knew how they were marketing me. I don't blame them. I was what you'd call a willing victim," St. John, who turns 42 tomorrow, said during an appearance in Philadelphia last week to promote her new fitness book, "The Knockout Workout."
But life wasn't always lovely for St. John, a divorced, Mexican-American mother of two. In her latest instructional tome, St. John reveals that for years she battled alcoholism and bulimia, the result, she said, of self-esteem issues stemming from a childhood spent with a father who was "an angry and oftentimes violent drunk."
She never used to refer to her ugly past, but now that St. John (45-10-2, 18 KOs) is nearing the end of her boxing career - she is only 2-4 in her last six bouts- she said it's important to let women know that it's not the diet but the mind-set that can set them free.
"Diets don't work, because it's not about the food," said St. John. "It's about how you feel on the inside. Unless you learn to love yourself for exactly who you are, you're never going to stop the cycle of overeating."

ALEXANDER vs. WITTER TITLE BOUT ADDED TO AUG. 1 CARD
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.— World Boxing Council No. 1-ranked super lightweight Devon Alexander “The Great” will fight for the vacant WBC super lightweight championship against the former holder of that belt, Junior “The Hitter” Witter, in a tremendous co-feature on Saturday, Aug. 1 at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino • Resort • Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif. (SHOWTIME 9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast)
In an interesting twist, Witter lost this title on May 10, 2008, to undefeated Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (24-0, 11 KOs), who will defend his World Boxing Organization 140-pound crown against former unified lightweight world champion Nate “Galaxxy Warrior” Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KOs) in the main event on this card. In a world title unification, Bradley defeated Kendall Holt on April 4 to capture the WBO belt. Less than a month later, Bradley chose to voluntarily relinquish the WBC strap that Alexander and Witter will be vying for.
“I just found out a few days ago that I’ll be in my first world championship match against Junior Witter on Aug. 1,” Alexander said. “I am so thrilled to be fighting for a world title and against Witter, a fighter I respect. He’s already had the title we’re fighting for, and I feel like it’s my turn now. I’m not stopping my undefeated run for anyone. I’ll never have a chance at the biggest fights in the world against Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao unless I win this.”
The promising Alexander (18-0, 11 KOs) is the most highly touted fighter to come out of St. Louis since four-time world champion Cory Spinks. The 22-year-old Alexander is a stablemate of Spinks and has fought as a pro exclusively under the guidance of longtime Spinks’ longtime trainer Kevin Cunningham.
“This is a terrific opportunity for Devon,” Cunningham said. “He’s been preparing for this moment since he was 8 years old when I heard him say he wanted to fight for the ‘green belt’ of the WBC. Now he’s the mandatory challenger. We look forward to bringing home another world championship to the American Gateway City of St. Louis.”
In another sign of stability, legendary boxing promoter Don King remains as Alexander’s only promoter. He signed Alexander after Cunningham brought the boxer to his attention while the young phenom was still in high school.
“I saw something special in Devon from the beginning,” King said. “He doesn’t drink, smoke or take drugs. He takes care of his body. His smile lights up a room. He’s also a great role model for young people. I can’t say enough good things about this talented young man.
“Now he has received an opportunity in the land of opportunity and he plans to make the most of it. Those in attendance at Agua Caliente and watching across America on Showtime are going to see a very special young fighter win his first world title.”
Alexander has stopped 11 of his 18 opponents, including the last three in a row. The only areas he must concede to his opponent are those pertaining to age and experience.

In an interesting twist, Witter lost this title on May 10, 2008, to undefeated Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (24-0, 11 KOs), who will defend his World Boxing Organization 140-pound crown against former unified lightweight world champion Nate “Galaxxy Warrior” Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KOs) in the main event on this card. In a world title unification, Bradley defeated Kendall Holt on April 4 to capture the WBO belt. Less than a month later, Bradley chose to voluntarily relinquish the WBC strap that Alexander and Witter will be vying for.
“I just found out a few days ago that I’ll be in my first world championship match against Junior Witter on Aug. 1,” Alexander said. “I am so thrilled to be fighting for a world title and against Witter, a fighter I respect. He’s already had the title we’re fighting for, and I feel like it’s my turn now. I’m not stopping my undefeated run for anyone. I’ll never have a chance at the biggest fights in the world against Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao unless I win this.”
The promising Alexander (18-0, 11 KOs) is the most highly touted fighter to come out of St. Louis since four-time world champion Cory Spinks. The 22-year-old Alexander is a stablemate of Spinks and has fought as a pro exclusively under the guidance of longtime Spinks’ longtime trainer Kevin Cunningham.
“This is a terrific opportunity for Devon,” Cunningham said. “He’s been preparing for this moment since he was 8 years old when I heard him say he wanted to fight for the ‘green belt’ of the WBC. Now he’s the mandatory challenger. We look forward to bringing home another world championship to the American Gateway City of St. Louis.”
In another sign of stability, legendary boxing promoter Don King remains as Alexander’s only promoter. He signed Alexander after Cunningham brought the boxer to his attention while the young phenom was still in high school.

O’Connor back boxing in Boston
FRAMINGHAM, Mass.– Highly active unbeaten prospect Danny O’Connor fights in his first scheduled 6-round bout Saturday afternoon (5:00 PM/ET start) in a junior welterweight Special Attraction against 30-fight veteran Sebastien Hamel at The Roxy in Boston’s famed theater district. The popular Irish-American will be in his seventh fight in eight months since turning pro last September.
“I’m excited to be fighting in my first 6-rounder,” O’Connor said. “It’s going to be a good experience, especially in Boston, where there will be a lot of my people. There’s no additional pressure on me fighting a home, though. I appreciate seeing and hearing all of the support, knowing they came to see me fight.”
2004 U.S. Olympic Team alternate O’Connor (6-0, 2 KOs) was impressive in his last fight, easily winning by 4-round decision against 22-fight veteran Travis Hartman on April 25 at Foxwoods. “I felt very relaxed in my last fight,” Danny noted. “It was like a day at the office. I’m really starting to feel confident. I’m going rounds and not feeling tight or anxious. Obviously, I was in great shape, and I’ll be in even better shape for this fight having been in a full strength-and-conditioning program for the first time with my coach, Eric Cressey. All of my work is going to kick-in this fight. I’m in the gym sparring 6, 8 and even 10 rounds. Sparring isn’t the same as fighting, but I’m ready to go six in this fight if it goes the distance. Each fight I’m learning and improving.”

No Holds Barred: Charles Farrell Reviews Klitschko-Chagaev Fight and Awful State of Heavyweight Boxing
On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with our
colleague and correspondent, Charles Farrell.
In a spirited and lengthy discussion, we review Wladimir Klitschko's
predictable TKO victory over Ruslan Chagaev on Saturday, June 20, in
Germany in a fight for several alphabet heavyweight belts. We critique

ANDRADE SPECTACULAR ONCE AGAIN
Boxing's hottest young star, 2007 amateur world champion, and 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade improved his record to a perfect 5-0, 4KO with an impressive four round decision win over Tony Hirsch (8-2-1, 4KO) on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights". It was Andrade's third showing on FNF this year, and just as in the previous two he looked spectacular.
The 21-year-old Providence, RI native Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, used his speed and height advantage to out work and out box Hirsch.

CES announces Godfrey-Hawk headlining July 10 ESPN2 FNF show
PROVIDENCE- Two of the best young cruiserweights in the world, Matt “Too Smooth” Godfrey and Shawn “The Sioux Warrior” Hawk, have been on a collision course and lead promoter Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. (CES) officially announced today that Godfrey-Hawk will headline the July 10th ESPN2 Friday Night Fights show.
Godfrey (18-1, 10 KOs), rated No. 6 by the WBC and No. 7 by the IBF, will defend his NABF and SNBC belts against unbeaten challenger Hawk (18-0-1, 16 KOs) in the 10-round main event.
“Both of these cruiserweights were highly successful amateurs and now they are two of the top young contenders in the division,” CES president Jimmy Burchfield said. “Both are Native Americans, too. When Matt won the first Sovereign Nation Boxing Council (SNBC) belt, Shawn fought on the same card last November at 4 Bears Casino in North Dakota. This is the match-up American boxing fans want to see – two top fighters in against each other. Matt and Shawn have wanted to fight each other for a long time and now it’s finally going to happen.”
The Ring magazine’s No. 10-ranked Godfrey, who has Narragansett blood in his family, had a 194-23 amateur record, capturing six national championships, four open tournaments including the 2004 Everlast U.S. Championships, plus two in the Junior Olympics. He was a Bronze medal winner at the 2001 Pan-American Games, Silver Medalist in all four of that year’s national major tournaments – National Golden Gloves, PAL (Police Athletic League), U.S. Championships and U.S. Challenge -- and six-time New England Golden Gloves champion.
As a pro, three of the 28-year-old Godfrey’s most impressive performances have been knockouts of Emmanuel Nwodo, Felix Cora, Jr. and Shaun George on ESPN. His lone loss was by 12-round decision 15 months ago in a WBC title eliminator to Rudolf Kraj in Germany, in which, Godfrey came on strong down the stretch only to run out of rounds.
Hawk, 25, is a full-blooded Sioux who comes from Crow Creek Reservation, North Dakota, which is the poorest Native American reservation in the country. Shawn had a 108-12 amateur record, including victories in four national championships, highlighted by a gold-medal performance at the National PAL Tournament when he was 14.

A Champion Dad
Although he holds the title of IBF World Cruiserweight Champion, Tomasz Adamek (37-1, 25 KO’s) considers his most important title to be “Dad”. In Polish the word for Dad is Tatus`. Currently in training for his July 11th Cruiserweight title defense against Bobby Gunn (21-3-1, 18 KO’s**) at Prudential Center Newark, Adamek never loses sight of what is truly important to him. “Everything I do, I do for my children”, says Adamek. This Sunday, after attending church with his family, Adamek will celebrate Father’s Day with a home cooked meal.

American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians Statement: Postpone Klitschko-Chagaev Fight "Due to Medical Safety Issues" By Eddie Goldman
It may seem incredible that they even have to do this, but the
American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians (AAPRP)
(http://aaprp.org/) issued a statement Thursday, June 18, calling for
the June 20 heavyweight title boxing match between Wladimir Klitschko
and Ruslan Chagaev to be postponed "due to medical safety issues".

The reason is clear and simple, as the May 30 WBA title fight between
Ruslan Chagaev and Nikolai Valuev was cancelled because Chagaev had
tested positive for the hepatitis B antigen. That fight was scheduled
to take place in Helsinki, Finland, and most places around the world

needles with another individual, the transmission rate of Hepatitis B
could be as high as 30%. If blood from a cut on Mr. Chagaev were to
come into direct contact with a cut on another fighter, the
transmission rate could be as high as 10%. Should blood squirt from
Mr. Chagaev and hit another individual in the eye (i.e. Judge,
referee, cornerman or media) the transmission rate could be as high as
5%. Therefore, the risk is obviously greater than zero and could put
others at ringside (beside his opponent) at risk for acquiring this
virus.
Unless everyone at ringside (Judges, referees, ringside physicians,
commission members, sanctioning body officials, trainers, cornermen,
media reporters, ring girls, television technicians, spectators and of
course the fighters opponent) has documented immunity to Hepatitis B
(a three shot hepatitis immunity vaccination series given over a 6
month period with a subsequent documented blood test confirming
immunity), protection against exposure to this dangerous virus cannot
be guaranteed. Finally, if bleeding does occur, the individuals
responsible for cleaning the ring as well as those handling the gloves
must also be immune to minimize the risk as well.
The American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians considers
safety our number one priority and will work with local and
international commissions to insure that all precautions are taken to
protect all individuals involved in professional boxing.

American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians (AAPRP)
(http://aaprp.org/) issued a statement Thursday, June 18, calling for
the June 20 heavyweight title boxing match between Wladimir Klitschko
and Ruslan Chagaev to be postponed "due to medical safety issues".

The reason is clear and simple, as the May 30 WBA title fight between
Ruslan Chagaev and Nikolai Valuev was cancelled because Chagaev had
tested positive for the hepatitis B antigen. That fight was scheduled
to take place in Helsinki, Finland, and most places around the world
which host major boxing events do not permit fighters with this
dangerous and infectious disease to compete.

Don King Summer Sizzler Showcases Hard Punchers at BankAtlantic Center On Saturday, July 11
SUNRISE, Fla.—Two of the hardest-hitting boxers in the world will meet when International Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Joseph King Kong Agbeko defends his crown against two-division world champion Vic “Raging Bull” Darchinyan at BankAtlantic Center on Saturday, July 11 and on SHOWTIME at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). The championship is scheduled for 12 rounds.
The televised co-feature will showcase two world-ranked No. 4 contenders when emerging lightweight Antonio DeMarco (20-1, 14 KOs), from Tijuana, Mexico, meets Anges “Baby Face” Adjaho (25-1, 14 KOs), from Benin, Africa, now fighting out of Geneva, N.Y.
The event is promoted by Don King Productions in association with BankAtlantic Center. Agbeko vs. Darchinyan and DeMarco vs. Adjaho are co-promoted with Gary Shaw Productions.
Both main event fighters possess eye-popping knockout percentages. Agbeko (26-1, 22 KOs) from Accra, Ghana, now fighting out of Bronx, N.Y., has knocked out over 81 percent of his opponents with Darchinyan (32-1, 26 KOs), from Sydney, Australia, by way of Armenia, right behind him at 76 percent.
The Aussie bomber is a four-time world champion at flyweight and super flyweight. He will leave his IBF, WBC and WBA titles at 115 pounds behind to move up to the 118-pound limit to face the champion. If victorious, Darchinyan will become a three-division world champion.
The Ghanaian powerhouse gave a gritty performance to win his world title, scoring a seventh-round technical knockout over Luis “El Demoledor” Perez—a tough-as-nails Nicaraguan who had been champion since 2003—at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif., on Sept. 29, 2007.
“I’ve seen stronger fighters than Darchinyan,”Agbeko said defiantly. “I respect him for what he has accomplished but I don’t think he has the true heart to beat me and take my punches.
“This fight will be the genesis of King Kong and the defining moment of why my parents named me this at birth. This is my destiny.”
The brash Darchinyan sees a different outcome.
“Agbeko may have seen stronger fighters than me but I guarantee you he has never fought any of them,” Darchinyan retorted. “The only thing he and King Kong have in common is they are both works of fiction. After I’m through with him he’ll have to change his name to King Con.”
Both fighters only have one loss each. Agbeko lost his second professional fight and has not lost since—24 wins in a row—while Darchinyan was shocked by flyweight Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire on July 7, 2007, in Bridgeport, Conn., who landed a fight-changing left hook in round five that lead to a technical knockout.
The loss came in Darchinyan’s first appearance after a traumatic 12th-round stoppage of Victor Burgos on March 3, 2007, at Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Darchinyan had been dominant in the contest but was taken by surprise when Burgos was rushed to a nearby hospital after the match suffering from a brain injury. Heroic efforts by doctors saved Burgos’s life, but he will never box again.
Darchinyan moved up to super flyweight, winning the IBF title by fifth-round knockout over Dimitri Kirilov on Aug. 2. He added the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council 115-pound crowns with a thrilling knockout over favored Cristian Mijares in round nine on Nov. 1 in Carson, Calif.
In his last appearance, Darchinyan was yet again dominant in a highly anticipated match against Mexican strongman Jorge Arce at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on Feb. 7. Clearly the best fighter in the world at 115 pounds, Darchinyan pounded Arce for 11 rounds until the referee halted the beating.
Although a champion himself, King Kong will be in the toughest challenge of his career against the Raging Bull, who is currently listed near the top of the top pound-for-pound best boxer lists.
The co-feature is a pivotal matchup for DeMarco, 23, and Adjaho, 32, with ramifications for the entire lightweight division. Both are near the top of the world rankings with only one career loss each and an identical number of knockouts at 14.
DeMarco, ranked No. 4 by the WBA, is the younger, more visible contender with multiple television appearances and hasn’t lost in his last 14 fights. While this will be Adjaho’s first television appearance in the United States, he grew up in boxing gyms as his father was a national boxing coach in Benin, Africa.
A child prodigy who compiled a stellar amateur record of 164-3, Adjaho, ranked No. 4 by the IBF, claims to have never been knocked down as an amateur or as a professional. Adjaho disputes his lone loss, a split decision, which came against Miguel Acosta in 2007 even though Acosta hit the deck twice during the fight.
In domestically non-televised action, fans at BankAtlantic Center will be treated to a full undercard highlighted by an important IBF elimination bout (for No. 1 and mandatory challenger) between former cruiserweight world champions Steve “USS” Cunningham (21-2, 11 KOs), from Philadelphia, and Wayne “Big Truck” Braithwaite (23-3, 19 KOs), from Guyana now fighting out of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Cunningham lost his IBF cruiserweight title at the hands of former light heavyweight world champion Tomasz Adamek in one of last year’s most memorable fights. In fact, the Boxing Writers Association of America designated the fight as one of the five nominees for “Fight of the Year” in 2008. The match took place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Dec. 11.
Cunningham suffered three early knockdowns from the heavy-handed Adamek, but many felt he should have been declared the victor after 12 rounds, but Adamek won the split decision.
Braithwaite won the WBC cruiserweight title in 2002 by defeating Vincenzo Cantatore, and he successfully defended that title three times before suffering a decision loss to Jean-Marc Mormeck in 2005.
Big Truck has also tangled with the likes of future world champions Guillermo Jones and Enzo Maccaranelli in 2005 and 2007, respectively. Always dangerous, Braithwaite would like nothing more than to earn another shot at a world title.

Trump Buys RAW(R)
STAMFORD, Conn., World Wrestling Entertainment(R) announced the sale of its ratings juggernaut, Monday Night RAW (R), on USA Network to Donald Trump. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Commenting on the deal WWE(R) Chairman Vince McMahon stated, "This was an offer I couldn't refuse."
"The Monday Night RAW franchise has been one of the top cable franchises since its launch 17 years ago," said Donald Trump. "I'm going to do things on the show that have never been done or seen before. As my first act as owner, I am doing something unprecedented. I am giving back to the people who have been loyal all these years. For the first time in more than 838 episodes of RAW, next week's show will be live and commercial free."
Mr. Trump will be making his first live appearance as the new owner of the RAW franchise this Monday. The episode will run commercial-free on USA Network at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM CT on Monday, June 22nd.

Chambers, 34-1 with eighteen knockouts is looking to ride the momentum of his victory over Samuel Peter in March and a victory of Dimitrenko (29-0, 19 KO’s) is a WBO Eliminator with the winner receiving a coveted shot at the winner of This weekend’s fight between reigning champion Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev.
“I see the light at the end of tunnel”, said Chambers, “I have never trained this hard. I know what’s at stake. I respect that he is undefeated but he has never been in with anyone near my abilities. MAYWEATHER VS MARQUEZ POSTPONED Mayweather Injured In Training
LAS VEGAS - The highly anticipated July 18 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez has been postponed due to a rib injury sustained by Mayweather while training. The mega-fight was scheduled to take place at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View."I am extremely disappointed that this fight has to be postponed," said Mayweather. "I was training very hard and looking forward to getting back in the ring on July 18th."
"I was very disappointed to hear the news about the fight being postponed," said Marquez from his training camp in Mexico. "I will remain focused, in shape and ready to fight whenever the fight is rescheduled for."

2007 amateur world champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian, Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade (4-0, 4KO) will look to improve to a perfect 5-0 when opens up next Friday's ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights" telecast from the Laredo Entertainment Center, in Laredo, TX. The next week, when David Haye pulled out of a scheduled June 20 fight with Wladimir Klitschko because of a training injury, Chagaev was chosen to replace Haye as Klitschko's opponent.
Yet, according to the standards of the American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians (http://aaprp.org/), on whose Board of Directors Dr. Joseph Estwanik serves, "If a fighter is Hepatitis B Surface Antigen Positive (reactive), they have Hepatitis B and cannot fight as they are infectious." Nonetheless, the Klitschko-Chagaev fight is being permitted to proceed in Germany.

Hedderick faces the best known 1-0-0 MMA fighter in the business, Atencio, who is the face of Affliction Entertainment, which has promoted two mega-MMA PPV shows with another, “Trilogy,” scheduled August 1, as well as UFC president Dana White’s outspoken archrival.
“This is a huge opportunity for me,” nearby Gulfport (Miss) resident Hedderick acknowledged in between training and working as a card dealer at Treasure Bay. “I’ve been working hard and training non-stop. So many people have come up to me saying, ‘Beat his ass,’ and that’s what I’m going to try and do. I’m a stand-up fighter – boxing and Samba – but I’ve been learning Muay Tai. I’m a brawler who lives for the Fight of the Night. I’m looking for that to happen and to win by knockout.
“There’s huge interest in our fight. A lot of people at the casino have mentioned it to me and after the press conference, I ‘Googled’ myself and saw that I was all over the place. I must admit, I do have a few Affliction T-shirts, but my girlfriend bought them for me. I’m enjoying this and can’t wait to get in the cage with Tom. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime for me.”
For Atencio the fight is a labor of love, a nice release from his everyday pressures associated with Affliction. “I love this sport,” Tom explained. “I grew-up fighting as a young kid and really enjoy it. I was the youngest kid in a Mexican family – fighting is in our blood – and I was the one getting beaten up for a while. Training is much harder than any job I’ve ever worked. Your body is put through hell and I’m 42 now. Training is what makes me have so much respect for fighters. I’m pushing my body and that’s not easy at my age.
“This is probably my last fight, but it really depends on how I feel afterwards. I’d like to fight again. My last fight was October of last year. I had a Muay Thai amateur fight and came out of it with a broken rib and nose. I know Randy’s a tough kid who had a good amateur record. He works at Treasure Bay and I’m really looking forward to stepping in against him.”
Dutch knockout threat Gilbert “The Hurricane” Yvel (35-13-1) takes on 3-time UFC heavyweight challenger Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo (16-8-0) in the co-feature, while The Ultimate Fighter 4 star Din “Dinyero” Thomas (24-8-0) is matched against former King Of The Cage and Gladiator Challenge lightweight champion Javier “Showtime” Vasquez (12-2-0).
