FRANKLIN “YA YA” LAWRENCE SEES MOLLO AS STEPPING STONE TO TITLE SHOT NABA TITLE BOUT TO BE STREAMED LIVE THIS FRIDAY ON GFL.TV

This Friday night at the beautiful Dover Downs Casino in Dover, Delaware, WBC number-twelve ranked Heavyweight Franklin “Ya Ya” Lawrence will look to make it six straight knockout wins when he takes on Mike Mollo in a bout for the vacant NABA Heavyweight title. From his confident words, he feels it will come in impressive fashion. Lawrence of Indianapolis is 17-2-2 with twelve knockouts and has scored five straight knockouts over the likes of former contender Lance Whitaker, former U.S. Olympian Jason Estrada and his bout when he stopped Raymond Ocheing.

He expects to have the same result with the very tough Mollo.

“Mike Mollo cant fight. He just swings wildly”, said a (to put it mild) confident Lawrence from Indianapolis.

“Andrew Golota boxed him and then beat him half to death”, continued Lawrence in reference to Mollo’s January 19, 2008 defeat to Golota.

“The guy has no inside game and he is not ready for me. He doesn’t do anything textbook but I will give him credit because he does take a good beating.”

With the recent hot streak that he is on, Lawrence believes his date with destiny is getting closer by the fight.

“I will be fighting for the championship within a fight or two. My ratings would be higher except the guys ahead of me are ducking me.”

“Once the networks see what I can do, they will know I am a serious challenger for the title”

Lawrence held training camp in Indianapolis is proud of his state.

“I am Midwest to the bone and a true Hoosier and can’t wait to bring the Heavyweight championship home to Indianapolis.”

Lawrence is promoted by Fisticuffs Promotions and the CEO Dave Escalet sees big things for Lawrence.

“This is a great fight for Franklin. And when he looks great on Friday night, It will be six in a row against top competition and he will have earned his opportunity for a big fight”, said Escalet

The action begins on www.gfl.tv at 7:30 pm with Mike Mittman calling the action with analysts Legendary Heavyweight champion Larry Holmes and Marc Abrams.

MMA Event in New York Full Press Conference Video

For those who haven’t been paying attention, Erik Herbert and the USMTA are bringing the first sanctioned MMA event to New York in over ten years, this weekend. The TNT Fight Series is an amateur MMA card that is using a special provision in New York State law for full legal sanctioning under the authority of the USMTA. The above video, provided by promotion sponsor Full Blast Clothing, is the full press conference for New York’s first local card of the decade.

While the TNT Fight Series obviously has its own merits as an amateur MMA card, with USMTA rules being nearly identical to the amateur rules practiced by the State Athletic Control Board in neighboring New Jersey, it also serves as a protest for the sustained ban on professional MMA in New York that has been in place since 1997. The presser even begins with a political statement in favor of lifting the ban, and the majority of questions asked during the presser are related to New York State’s hostile relationship with MMA.

The TNT Fight Series will take place May 19 in the upstate town of Towanda, New York: a suburb of Buffalo. Since 2002, it has been a common belief in New York that amateur MMA was also illegal within the state. This was largely due to local authorities using obscure liquor laws to force out the contentious sport. But, ten years and much mainstream exposure later, local authorities in Towanada are now on board with MMA in their town.

THE RECKONING Anne Sophie Mathis vs. Holly Holm II IBA Welterweight & WBAN Championships

Promoter Lenny Fresquez predicts

Mathis vs. Holm II as

2012 Female Fight of the Year

'The Reckoning,' June 15 at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque

Veteran boxing promoter Lenny Fresquezhas predicted that "The Reckoning," featuring a June 15 rematch between French knockout-artist Anne Sophie Mathis and Holly "The Preachers Daughter" Holm, will be the 2012 Female Fight of the Year.

"The Reckoning," presented by Fresquez Productions, will be held at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

"I think it'll be closely fought and the Fight of the Year," Fresquez said. "Hands down, they are the top two women fighters in the world. This will be the most important fight of Holly's career, in which she'll try to regain her pound-for-pound status."

Mathis will defend her IBA and WBAN welterweight title belts, as well as the mythical pound-for-pound crown, for the first time since capturing the coveted straps last December by way of a stunning seventh-round knockout of hometown darling Holm.

Mathis (26-1, 22 KOs) was fighting in the United States for the first time, while Holm (30-2-3, 9 KOs) had been unbeaten for seven years during a 24-fight stretch.

"Holly won the first four rounds and in the fourth she hit Anne Sophie with a good body shot," Fresquez recounted their "World Dominance" showdown. "Holly went for the kill; she started brawling, instead of boxing, and got caught. Holly rushed out for the fifth round and, in her words, didn't execute the game plan. She understands the mistakes she made and has learned from them."

Mathis is a power puncher, Holm a consummate boxer. But Holly got away from her game plan. "Mathis came into the fight last December with 22 knockouts in 25 fights," Fresquez continued. "Everybody knew about her power and the plan was for Holly to out-box her from a distance. Holly hurt her in the fourth with that body punch but then she got away from her game plan. We took that loss as a team. Anne Sophie Mathis was the best fighter in the world that night."

Seven-time world champion and reigning IBA/WBA titilist Mathis, who is riding a 25-fight win streak, has defeated world champions such as Holm, Myriam Lamare(twice), Jane Couch, Duda Yankovich, Ana Pascal and Nathalie Toro.

Holm is a nine time, three-division world champion who has defeated some of the most notable women boxers of her era, from the 140 through 154-pound weight classes, including Christy Martin, Mary Jo Sanders, Mia St. John, Couch, Yankovich and Chevelle Hallback (twice).

"I've never seen Holly so determined," Fresquez concluded. "Based on past statistics, I understand that about 85 percent of rematches are won by the winner of the first fight. But Coach Winkeljohn and I strongly feel that Holly has learned from her mistakes and she will gain retribution on June 15th. In the last fight, they were throwing leather, and I've never seen women hit like that. These two women are more ferocious than a lot of guys. In all my years promoting women's boxing, I never saw a fight that both fighters threw and connected on so many hard punches. They tried to take each other's heads off. I expect this fight to be equally exciting and hard fought."

Mathis and Holm are simply the best women fighters, pound for pound, in the world today. This could develop into the greatest rivalry in women's boxing history.

HEAVYWEIGHT MIKE MOLLO SEES BIG OPPORTUNITY THIS FRIDAY AGAINST LAWRENCE IMPORTANT HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHT TO BE STREAMED LIVE ON GFL.TV

This Friday night two Heavyweights will slug it out in Dover, Delaware will slug it out as Franklin “Yah Yah” Lawrence (17-2-2, 12 KO’s) takes on Mike Mollo (20-3-1, 12 KO’s) for the vacant NABA title.

The bout can be seen over the world on www.gfl.tv ($9.99) by clicking: http://www.gfl.tv/Events/Fight/Boxing/Friday_Night_Fights/1487

Mollo has been training hard for this bout as the Chicago native knows the importance of the bout.

“Not only am I going to win but I will win in spectacular fashion. I have been putting in the hard work and have been in training camp for ten weeks”, said Mollo from his training camp in Chicago.

Mollo does not put much stock in the five fight knockout streak that Lawrence is on that has catapulted to the number-twelve ranking by the WBC.

“He beat an out shape Jason Gavern and Jason Estrada. He has gotten off easy in those fights and if he wants to live off that then he is fooling himself”

Mollo is most remembered for gallant effort against Andrew Golota as part of the Roy Jones – Felix Trinidad HBO PPV undercard on January 19, 2008 and knows what the win will do for his career.

“This fight will get me back in the spotlight and I am not looking to squeak by with a decision”

Mollo, who hasn’t fought since August 6, 2010 has been training hard to make sure he is primed and ready for Lawrence.

“I spar like it is a real fight and this long layoff doesn’t mean anything because I am always in the gym. I was training for a fight last summer with Seth Mitchell on HBO and the fight got called off due to Robert Guerrero getting hurt and I would like to fight him if it’s the right situation. I am a fighter”

“This fight with Lawrence begins my road to redemption. I am in great shape and I am ready to fight”
The action begins on www.gfl.tv at 7:30 pm with Mike Mittman calling the action with analysts Legendary Heavyweight champion Larry Holmes and Marc Abrams.

THE ELITE HEAT BOXING TEAM, TO CALL THEM SPECIAL IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT

The Elite Heat Boxing Team is made up of an extremely special group of inner city kids who have chosen the sport of boxing as their focus and have obtained monumental success on a national level. Based out of the Elite Heat Boxing Gym in Newark NJ, the kids who make up “the team” can be seen on a daily basis honing their craft with the dedication and drive rarely seen in any athletes other than the most successful world champions on the planet. Their days start at the crack of dawn where these kids are literally doing road work with the vigor and passion that it takes to be a champion. We are talking about 8 year olds – 14 year olds that have made the commitment to focus their energy on something positive, stay off the streets & in addition to their intense training regimen they are required to attack their school work with the same dedication and intensity.

In 2011 The Elite Heat Boxing Team had 5 Team members win National Championships at the Junior Golden Gloves Tournament in Mesquite Nevada at The Casablanca Sports Complex. This unprecedented level of success was the culmination of all the hard work and sacrifice that these kids put in for a year leading up to the National’s. This year “The Team” is looking to improve upon last year’s results and aim to have 17 Team member’s win National Championship’s at the Junior Golden Gloves in July 2012.

Between the 17 Team Member’s, coaches & chaperones, there are many airline tickets, uniforms, equipment, hotel rooms, meals, rental vans and entrance fees that need to be paid for. I cannot think of a better, more positive cause to donate to. I am asking you to look into your hearts and open up your wallets to assist these special kids in their quest to become National Champions. The truth is whether they win or lose at the Junior Golden Gloves in July, all these kids are already champions. The courage, discipline and honor they display on a daily basis to get to this point is truly remarkable. Please join The Elite Heat Boxing Team as a sponsor/donor, it feels good to be a part of the winning team!

All in a day’s work; Unbeaten Falowo embraces challenges as he continues climb in middleweight division

Falowo continues rapid climb‏

In some ways, Thomas Falowo was more enamored with the unique souvenir he took home back in March than he was with his victory.

“I got my first black eye as a pro,” Falowo said of his hard-earned, unanimous-decision win over Troy Artis on March 22nd. “It’s good to get that experience out of the way. If all of your fights are one-sided, you get a false sense of security.”

The road to the top has grown increasingly more difficult for Falowo (6-0, 4 KOs) in his last two fights. The undefeated Pawtucket, R.I., middleweight began his career with four consecutive knockouts – three within the first four rounds – but has now gone the distance in each of his last two wins.

Falowo is expecting yet another challenge Thursday, May 24th, 2012 when he faces 29-year-old La Vista, Neb., native Sean Rawley Wilson (5-10, 1 KO) in a six-round bout on the undercard of “Up For Grabs,” presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, R.I.

Though the record doesn’t show it, Wilson is a worthy adversary; the combined record of his last five opponents is 53-1, and he went the distance in each of those fights, with the lone exception being a fifth-round knockout loss to unbeaten Jermall Charlo in March. Falowo will be Wilson’s fourth consecutive undefeated opponent, capping a stretch of four bouts in just three months.

Wilson is also an accomplished professional in mixed martial arts, where he’s fought a staggering 47 bouts in just over a decade, totaling 30 wins with nine knockouts.

“I’m not really sure what to expect,” Falowo said, “but I know he’ll come forward and fight me. He’s tough – anybody who steps inside that ring or cage has to be tough.”

These are the challenges Falowo wants, and needs. His hectic work schedule – he’s a pharmacy technician for CVS – leaves him with little spare time outside of the gym, but his hours have changed in recent months, giving him even more time to focus on his boxing career, which is quickly soaring to new heights.

Under the direction of head trainer Peter Manfredo Sr., Falowo fought his first six-round bout at Twin River in March, beating Artis unanimously, 59-55, 59-55, 58-56. His previous win was a four-round unanimous decision against underrated veteran Borngod Washington, which, at the time, was the toughest fight of Falowo’s career. Each victory has doubled as a learned experience.

“You discover something new each time,” Falowo said. “It’s a little different when you’re actually mixing it up with your opponent. You learn a lot about yourself endurance-wise.

“The experience was definitely a positive. [Artis] was strong, and it felt good to get hit with a couple of shots. I felt like it bettered me. I actually felt better in the six-rounder than I did in some of my earlier fights. I broke through my initial tiredness and got my second wind.”

After this next fight, which will be Falowo’s second six-rounder, he and Burchfield will contemplate Falowo’s next step. Having begun his amateur career around the same time fellow Rhode Islanders Jason Estrada and Matt Godfrey turned pro, Falowo has learned a lot about the maturation procession both in and outside the ring, so he’s plotting each move carefully.

“I’m still feeling things out as far as rounds go,” Falowo said. “We’ll see what happens. Maybe we’ll take it up to eight soon. I’m kind of mapping everything out and just going by how I feel.

“My endurance has gotten a lot better through training,” he continued. “I added an extra couple of rounds on the heavy bag, and instead of doing my normal four or five rounds sparring, I’m making sure I get six in a row no matter what. Before, I might do four straight, and then get two here or one there. Now I get six, and then maybe come back for two more. It helps mentally. It makes a big difference.”

The eight-round main event of “Up For Grabs” features Vladine Biosse (12-1-1, 6 KOs), dubbed “Mr. Providence” due to his strong following in Rhode Island’s capital city, defending his New England Super Middleweight Title against Providence’s Joey “K.O. Kid” Spina (26-2-2, 18 KOs). Unbeaten Burlington, Vt., super middleweight Kevin Cobbs (3-0, 1 KO) will face veteran Borngod Washington (3-10, 1 KO) of Queens, N.Y., in a four-round bout while female bantamweight Shelito Vincent (2-0) of Providence will battle newcomer Carmen Cruz of Fort Myers, Fla., in a four-round bout.

CES will also introduce another one of its most recent signings on May 24th when undefeated Medford, Oreg., heavyweight “Irish” Mike Wilson (5-0, 3 KOs) returns to the ring for the first time in 18 months in a four-round bout.

Super lightweight Zack Ramsey, a former national amateur champion from Springfield, Mass., will make his long-awaited debut against Providence’s Alan Beeman (0-1), while fan-favorite Richard “Bobo The Bull” Starnino (9-7-2, 2 KOs) of Providence will now face Harwich, Mass., native Paul Gonsalves (3-2, 3 KOs) in a six-round light heavyweight bout.

“Up For Grabs” also features the return of former reality television star Richard Gingras (11-2, 7 KOs) of “The Contender,” who, after signing a promotional agreement with Classic Entertainment & Sports, will battle Terrance Smith Jr. (7-13-2, 4 KOs) of Oklahoma City in the six-round cruiserweight special attraction.

Woonsocket, R.I., middleweight Joe Gardner (8-4, 1 KO) will face Julio Garcia (4-3, 3 KOs) of Rincon, Puerto Rico in a four-round bout, while light heavyweight Alex Amparo (3-0, 2 KOs) of Providence and welterweight Diego Pereira (6-0-1, 2 KOs) of Pawtucket will be featured in separate four- and six-round bouts, respectively.

Steele came to Find A Dream as he wanted to be part of the organization that makes an impact on the lives of youth around the country.

“I’m very excited to be on board,” said Steele. “Today’s youth doesn’t understand the concept of reality. Kids think there is a reset button on a person’s life, and that’s why there are so many guns being pulled nowadays before people try to talk it out. They don’t understand the value of life.”

In recent months Find A Dream has been focusing on putting together an all star team to help spread awareness throughout the country and help enrich the lives of inner city youth by providing them with boxing, martial arts, computer and educational programs. They recently have secured a building for their newest facility which they will be opening up shortly in South Carolina, and are focusing their efforts on opening up several other locations.

Steele joins an elite team at Find A Dream, including former boxing champion Ray Mercer, UFC legend and Hall-of-Famer Dan “The Beast” Severn, cruiserweight boxer Bobby Czyz, and actor Quinton Aaron, amongst several others.

“I stand behind Find A Dream 100% for the reason of what they are trying to accomplish.,” said Steele. “Because I feel like if we can get to the youth before they get to that point, by teaching them the basics of what we call the sweet science, be there to mentor them and help them along the right road.”

In 2012 Find A Dream is striving to continue to expand and impact the lives of children throughout various communities. Find A Dream plans to spread their word through boxing and MMA events, car shows, cook-offs, concerts and more in hopes of reaching out to communities and bringing awareness of the necessity to work towards enriching the lives of our youths.

Tomasz Adamek vs. Eddie Chambers; Tomas Adamek (45-2, 28 KO’s) is looking to get another title shot by facing Eddie Chambers (36-2, 18 KO’s) June 16

Main Events snaps right back with another "Fight Night" installment, nationally televised by NBC Sports Network. On June 16, "Heavyweights Collide" when Tomasz Adamek, 45-2, 28 KOs, takes on Eddie Chambers, 36-2, 18 KOs, in a significant match of top big men for the IBF North American Heavyweight belt. Both fighters have fought for the world heavyweight title, and are raring to get back to the big show. Each stands in the other's way. Adamek and Chambers are well-conditioned, quick-fisted, highly regarded talents in the sport. Their pairing is a natural and should make for a great fight. Chambers will have to contend with Adamek's massive fan base, which will surely pack the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. But the fact that Chambers' Philadelphia home base is not so far from Newark, means he too will have serious support for the fight. Clearly the atmosphere for this one should be electric.

Adding to the excitement on June 16th will be another key heavyweight match up when breakout star, Bryant Jennings, 13-0, 6 KOs, meets Steve Collins, 25-1-1, 18 KOs, of Houston, TX, in a 10-rounder for the Vacant USBA Heavyweight Title. This will be Jennings' third appearance on the NBC Sports Network "Fight Night" series. His last bout was an overwhelming TKO of former champion Sergei Liakhovich in March. Collins will try to stop Jennings' star-making streak in its tracks with his superior punching power. Main Events is promoting this show in partnership with Ziggy Promotions and Goossen Tutor Promotions.

After these three consecutive shows, Main Events will take the briefest of breathers before returning with more world class boxing.♔EL Boxing Empress & MMA Princess♔, See you at the Fights and Thank You for your time.EL Boxing Empress Online @ Twitter http://www.twitter.com/Keishamorrisey ©®™ 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 All photos other than specified by "EL Boxing Empress & MMA Princess" Keisha Morrisey, for ♔Empire Morrisey Photo-Studios♔, KCKMT for Bloodline Boxing Communications Entertainment and ★Starlite★ Boxing's Sweetscience Magnews-Online Publication all rights reserved.

NBC Sports Network's "Fight Night" Gabriel Rosado vs. Sechew Powell vs

Main Events returns with the latest installment of NBC Sports Network's "Fight Night" series in partnership with Russell Peltz of Peltz Boxing. Topping the show at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, PA, is rising junior middleweight Gabriel Rosado of Philadelphia, 19-5, 11 KOs. This will be a command performance for Rosado, who so impressed the NBC Sports Network execs in January with his disposal of Jesus Soto Karass on the very first edition of "Fight Night", that they ordered an extra show in the series just for him. Rosado faces two-time world title challenger Sechew Powell in a 12-round bout for the WBO Intercontinental Jr. Middleweight belt. Powell brings a seasoned 26-4, 15 KOs record, as well as a tricky southpaw style into the fight. Rosado will have his hands full, but another impressive win may position the Philadelphian for a big fight. He is currently ranked #5 by the IBF and #9 by the WBC. Powell is the IBF's 9th-ranked junior middleweight.

Supporting Rosado-Powell is a 12-round bout between Bethlehem's Ronald Cruz, 16-0, 12 KOs, and Prenice Brewer, 16-1-1, 6 KOs, of Cleveland. The fight will be for the Vacant WBC Continental Americas Welterweight Championship. The winner of the bout takes home his first piece of hardware as a professional. Clearly Cruz will have the hometown advantage, but Brewer brings a wealth of top-level amateur experience in with him.

Jerry Belmontes vs. Ramesis Gil to be televised by Univision on May 19th

Main Events brings boxing fans a tidal wave of action over the next month with three rapid-fire promotions scheduled for national television audiences. However, merely keeping boxing lovers busy was not the goal of Main Events head Kathy Duva. Committed to making matches that really count, Duva stacked all three shows with appealing fights that really matter in boxing's big picture. Kathy Duva said, "It has been a long time since we had such a busy month. There is a lot of excitement in the air at Main Events, lately, and, as a fan, I can't wait to watch each one of these bouts." So get ready for both quality and quantity over the next month.

First up is a card at the Pharr, Texas Convention Center to be televised by Univision on May 19th. Headlining the show is Texas featherweight, Jerry Belmontes, known as "The Corpus Christi Kid", puts his undefeated, 15-0, 5 KOs, record on the line against Dominican trial horse Ramesis Gil, 7-3-5, 5 KOs. It will be Belmontes' first time in the ring since last June, and he'll be hoping a win over Gil will be his ticket to a successful and more active future. The loyal fan base Belmontes built as an all-star amateur, will no doubt be in the house to cheer him on.

Also on the card, is an important heavyweight bout between Odlanier Solis, 17-1, 12 KOs, and Konstantin Airich, 23-5-2, 17 KOs, for the IBF Intercontinental Title. Cuban-born Solis will try to bounce back from his bizarre 2011 loss to WBC champ Vitali Klitschko, and to do so, will have to will have to get past the German-based Airich, who is currently on a six-bout winning streak, the last three by knockout.
