Bob Duffy's Ring Promotions Brings a Night of Full Ko's to Plattduetsche Park Restaurant Franklin Square, New York

On a fight card promoted as "Bombs Away Long Island" despite losing it's main event when unbeaten light heavyweight Ronson Frank's opponent couldn't make weight and undefeated Long Island banger Cletus Seldin's opponent had his own problems but the Bob Duffy Ring Promotions card done in association with Winner Takes All Productions still filled the bill.

Being bumped up into the main event Mastic, Shirley Long Island light heavyweight Joe "The Irish Bomber" Smith Jr. continued his heavy handed ways recording his third straight stoppage disposing off Akron, Ohio's rugged James Denson in the opening stanza of their scheduled six rounder.

Smith, trained by the fighting Capobianco brother's Phil and Gerry used a patient approach setting up the shorter Denson with drilling jabs adding a looping right around Denson's high guard backing him to the corner for a volley of brutal power shots to both sides, up and down prompting referee Arthur Mercante Jr. to call it at 1:54 of round one.

Smith holding dynamite in both hands and always finding it hard to find opponents climbs to 10-1, 10Ko's with his only defeat coming after fighting almost three full rounds with a severely fractured jaw back August 2010. Denson drops to 5-9, 2Ko's.

In the co-feature Long Beach, Long Island unbeaten southpaw lightweight Michael "Lefty" Brooks held onto his zero tracking down Toledo, Ohio's roaming"Gladiator" Calvin Pritchard in the second round with drilling a well placed left to Pritchards midsection depositing him on the canvas for good at 2:59 of the second round.

Brooks who won a unanimous four round decision over Pritchard in their first meeting September 2010 advances to 7-0, 2Ko's while the winless Pritchard falls to 0-6.

Opening the action Queens, NY's featherweight Trevis Hall measured Brooklyn's debuting Nieem Harris in round one of their scheduled four rounder with long jabs until backing him to the ropes in round two for a well timed left hook to the temple right hand to the throat ending the action at 1:45 of round two. Hall improves to 201, 1Ko leaving Harris still in search of his first pro victory.

Garden City, NY welterweight Rich "Kid Brazil" Neves fought through the clutching grabbing style of Guyama, Puerto Rico's Jose Angel Ortiz finally breaking through with a drilling body shot dropping him to a knee ending the action at 0:57 of round four.

Fort Worth Texas 21 year old unbeaten light middleweight Skender Halili now fighting out of the Bronx, NY remained perfect stopping Tampa, Florida southpawBrian Meadows in two. Halili starting behind an educated jab floored Meadows with a clean lead right in round one methodically broke Meadows down with a concentrated body attack closing the show with a thudding left hook to the body at 1:31 of round two. Hali stays perfect at 5-0, 5Ko's as Meadows drops to 0-3-2.

Bellport, Long Island' cruiserweight Adam Willett returned to his winning ways quickly solving then disposing of Brooklyn, NY's unorthodox and overmatched late replacement Justin Warren with a heavy looping left at 1:40 of round one. Willett advances to 3-1-1, 1Ko as Warren dropping his hard matched pro debut heads back to the gym at 0-1.

Hicksville, Long Island amateur star welterweight Anthony Karparis converted his pro debut with a one sided pounding of Muskegon, Michigan's Cody "The Ghost" Osborne. The well tanned and conditioned Long Islander started fast using his superior speed and power softening up "The Ghost" with driving body shots then closing the show with a thunderous counter right at 2:14 of round one. Karparis off to a solid start at 1-0, 1Ko leaves Osborne winless at 0-2.

Victor Conte statement about Andre Berto's positive drug test

Victor Conte statement about Andre Berto's positive drug test

I had absolutely nothing to do Andre Berto's positive drug test for nandrolone.

Andre enrolled in the VADA drug testing program in early 2012. While using my nutritional products and protocols Andre's blood and urine were randomly tested twice before his recent bicep injury and all tests were negative. After his positive test was revealed, Andre admitted that he recently took some supplements that were not provided by me and did so without my knowledge. It is possible that one these supplements was contaminated with trace amounts of nandrolone and caused his positive test result. My understanding is that an investigation is being conducted in an attempt to determine the culprit. I was the person who encouraged Andre to enroll in the VADA program and I will continue to encourage athletes to do so. There have been hundreds of nandrolone positive drug tests in the past that I believe were a result of contaminated supplements. Nandrolone is the longest lasting anabolic steroid known to man and therefore it is unlikely that any elite athlete would ever use it in and attempt to cheat. However, the strict liability rule makes an athlete responsible for whatever is in their body regardless of how it got there. I do my best to help athletes to make good choices, but unfortunately they do not always listen to my advice.

‘Licensed To Thrill’; David Haye V Dereck Chisora

The Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) has condemned the fight between David Haye V Dereck Chisora which is due to take place 14th July 2012 at Upton Park, London.

Chisora’s licence to box was taken off indefinitely after the infamous brawl with David Haye in Munich earlier this year.

David Haye announced his retirement from boxing last year after his defeat from Wladimir Klitschko, and the match which is due to take place is governed under the rules of the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.

Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren faces controversy and the BBBoC stated "Those behind this proposal are not concerned with the interests of the sport of professional boxing.

"Any member who participates in such a promotion would bring the sport of boxing into disrepute and would wholly undermine the authority of the British Boxing Board of Control.

"For the avoidance of doubt, any member of the British Boxing Board of Control who participates in any way in such a promotion will be deemed to have terminated his/her membership of the British Boxing Board of Control and his/her licence therewith."

Both men seem up for the challenge and have had been having a match of words with David Hay saying "He is the ideal opponent for me, I am so glad he has got a good chin because if he didn't have a good chin he would be blasted out in first round. This means I will give him a nice, slow, concussive beating."

Whatever happens, it looks like David Haye v Dereck Chisora tickets will be popular with the masses as everyone teams up for the fight of the year!

Boxing promoter Frank Warren has revealed the boxing match scheduled on July 14 2012 at Upton Park has already sold over 20,000 tickets.

Adonis Stevenson chases elusive championship shot, wants matches with top ten fighters‏

On The Beak - Admin

Based on his last five fights, super middleweight contender Adonis Stevenson (18-1-0, 15ko) is beginning to live up to his nickname, Superman. Stevenson, his promoter, Yvon Michel, as well as his Hall of Fame manager/trainer, Emanuel Steward, believe he's ready to fight any of the 168-pound top ten fighters/champions having already slayed Noe Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzales and Aaron Pryor Jr in his three most recent outings.

Stevenson's display case is even threatening to collapse from the added weight of all his stored title belts: (reigning) WBC Silver, IBF Inter-Continental, NABA, NABO, plus the WBC International, WBC Continental Americas, and Canadian straps Adonis formerly held.

All he's missing now is a world title belt, something he hopes to acquire this year, given a legitimate shot to challenge. Superman is qualified to fight any of the world super middleweight champions as a world-rated contender in each of the four major governing bodies: number two with the IBF, three with the WBC and seven with both the WBA and WBO.

The dream match for the Haitian-born Stevenson, who lives in the Montreal of Longueuill, is, of course, a showdown in Montreal with IBF champion Lucian Bute but the long-reigning world titlist is making a defense on May 26 against Carl Froch. Super WBA and WBC champion Andre Ward is practically locked into a fight with WBC light heavyweight title-holder Chad Dawson, likely in September.

"My goal is to become world champion," Stevenson said. "I don't care who I fight for the world title… Bute, Ward or any world champion. I want to prove that I'm the best super middleweight in the world. I have the best trainer in the world, Manny Steward, and he's trained me to be much more than just a big puncher.

"I've improved a lot since I've been with him and I'm using my speed and movement to become more of a complete fighter. If none of the world champions are willing to fight me, I'll continue improving, fighting top ten opponents, hopefully in a title eliminator, until I become a mandatory challenger."

Michel added: "Adonis Stevenson has proven that he's one of the best super middleweights in the world. He's better than ever since he teamed up with Manny. We know that he's ready for anybody and is the most deserving contender.

"If the WBC is seeking a replace for injured number one rated Anthony Dirrell, 'Superman' is ready to fight in a title eliminator against anybody. It's only matter of time before 'Superman' adds a world title to his belt collection."

In early results from today’s bouts it seems that the USA Boxing team has come out a winner so far.

Christina Cruz (54kg) fought a tough close bout against Sopida Saturmrum of Thailand, but managed to take the bout by the score of 29:19. Cruz managed to tie the first round 3:3, but actually lost the second and third round trailing by a total of two points before she put everything she had into the fourth round to take it by the score of 6:3. She advances to the semi-finals against Italy'sTerry Gordini on May 18th, giving her a well-need rest day.

Raquel Miller (69kg) was equally victorious in her bout over Turkish boxer Bilgehan Karabulutby the score of 11:5. Raquel led the low scoring bout throughout all four rounds. Her next bout in the semifinals of her division will be against Irina Poteyeva of Russia on May 18th.

In the third afternoon fight for the American team, Franchon Crews had a big win outscoring her opponent for Kasakhstan, Dariga Shakimova by the score of 30:12. Franchon came out blasting from the beginning and finished her fight with a devastating 10:2 round. As of this writing, Franchon's opponent in the semifinals is still undetermined. Her fight is also scheduled for May 18th.

Still to come in the 7:00 PM (local time) sessions are three fights:

Yesterday, Marlen Esparza's (51kg) became the first American female boxer in history to win a spot in the Olympic Games. Today, she hopes to continue winning in her quarterfinal bout against China's Cancan Ren.

Tiara Brown (57kg) who is considered the top seed in her division will also fight her quarterfinal bout against another member of China's boxing team, Jian Quin.

To round out the PM session, Mikaela Mayer (64kg), following her fantastic win yesterday by the score of 34:13, will be taking on India's Meena Rani. In yesterday's bout, Mayer led throughout with huge scores in the second and third rounds (10:4 & 10:3).

Queen Underwood in her heartbreaking lost to Ingrid Egner, Credit: Feng Li/Getty Images

As a reminder, in a true heartbreaker, Queen Underwood (60kg) lost her very close battle with Norway’s Ingrid Egner by the score of 26:25. Egner held a slight advantage in the first two rounds scoring 6:4 and 8:5. Queen was able to tie up the score 6:6 in the third round and came back with a fierce fourth round scoring 6:10, however, it was not enough. This is very, very tough for Queen, and she joins Claressa Shields in the waiting game for a place in the Olympics.

In a couple of notes on the Lightweight division, Ingrid Egner went on to lose today toNatasha Jonas of England by the score of 32:9. While Ireland’s Katie Taylor received a walkover against Mihaela Lacatus.

Tahdooahnippah to Taylor: “I’m coming for you!”‏

WBC Continental Americas Middleweight champion George “Comanche Boy” Tahdooahnippah is becoming increasingly impatient for a date with one of the world’s top 160 pound fighters.
The hard-hitting Tahdooahnippah, a huge draw in his native Oklahoma, has an outstanding professional record of 30-0-1 with 22 wins by knockout. All but two of his fights took place in the Sooner State, which kept him under the radar. Even though he’s yet to taste defeat and owns impressive knockouts against seasoned pros such as world title challenger Jonathan Corn, Jimmy Holmes and Tyrel Brown, the Lawton resident is yet to receive a career-defining opportunity.
“It’s time for me to face some big name fighters and show the world who I am,” said Tahdooahnippah, a member of the Comanche Nation. “When I fought Jimmy Holmes for the WBC belt, I had a torn bicep and still stopped him in the opening round. Whoever has been in my way thus far, I’ve got them out of there and I don’t plan on changing that, regardless of who is standing across the ring!”
Atop his wish list is former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor. Once a fixture on the pound-for-pound list, Taylor, 30-4-1 (18 KO’s), is 2-0 since returning from a two-year layoff. In his most recent bout, the Little Rock, AR native survived a scary ninth round knockdown against Caleb Truax en-route to claiming a unanimous decision victory.
Tahdooahnippah, whose opposition is comparable to Truax’, called his fight with Taylor a major eye-opener.
“I’ve been watching Caleb Truax his whole career and we were promoted similarly. The only difference is he got the opportunity that I’ve been looking for. Jermain Taylor also isn’t the same fighter he once was and recent upset wins by fellow Oklahomans Carson Jones and Grady Brewer truly inspired me.”
“Caleb wasn’t able to close the show and I know that I have more power than him. I’m a different fighter than Caleb. I’m hungrier and have a more fan-friendly style. If he can go ten rounds with Jermain and put him on his back and I know that I can get Jermain out of there!”
Tahdooahnippah’s manager Bobby Dobbs also feels the fighter he helped build from the ground up is ready to face a top-notch foe.
“George is 30-0 and had a few big fights fall through,” said Dobbs. Fernando Guerrero backed out on us a few years ago and it’s been frustrating to get him a fight. We’ve been ready to take the next step and Jermain Taylor is the guy we want. He’s on the comeback trail and is looking for another opportunity. Comanche Boy has no problem taking him out of the equation!”
