It's Chocolate Time! Peter Quillin ready to unify world middleweight title

Undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight champion Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (29-0, 21 KOs) has officially arrived on the International boxing scene, after destroying challenger Fernando Guerrero (25-2, 19 KOs) en route to victory by seventh-round technical knockout in his first title defense, April 27 on Showtime Championship Boxing from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Now, the 29-year-old Quillin is one of the hottest boxers in the world, ready to unify the 160-pound division, assuming he can overcome some potential boxing politics in order to make a deal against one of the other major world middleweight title holders.

"I want to fight one of the other champions," Quillin said.  "Sergio Martinez would be my first choice, but he's injured and out for the rest of the year.  (Daniel) Geale is the IBF champion and that, right now, looks like the easiest unification fight to make."

Unifications are difficult to make a for wide variety of reasons and, unfortunately, Quillin against any of the other world champions faces the additional problems stemming from animosity between rivals Showtime and HBO, as well as Quillin's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, and Top Rank.  What Quillin has on his side, however, in addition to his rising popularity, is the fact that not only is he the only American-born world middleweight champion, but he's also the only American ranked among the consensus top 10 in independent rating systems.

"We'll fight anybody in a unification or major fight," added John Seip, who co-manages Quillin with Jim McDevitt.  "Peter was awesome in his last fight. He really hurts his opponents with both hands.  He connected on 50-percent of his power punches against Guerrero and that's an astronomical number. Nobody in this division can handle him.  It's a numbers game, now.  The promoters and networks have to put egos aside and give fans what they want with Peter in a major fight.

"No offense to (Brian) Vera or (Marco Antonio) Rubio, but we're looking for much bigger fights.  Peter has earned the right to be a main event fighter.  He helped open-up Barclays Center and had a lot of fans there against Guerrero.  You don't make big money winning the world title belt; you do retaining it, and now it's time for Peter to reap the fruit of his labor. The biggest market in boxing is in America and a unification fight belongs here.  Martinez is out with injuries, (Julio Cesar, Jr.) Chavez won't fight us, Golovkin has a fight at the end of June, but Geale interests us."

The affable Quillin goes into animal status when he steps between the ropes and into the ring. He has developed into a monster counter-puncher with power in both hands, to go with a chameleon-like ability to adjust his style according to what's most advantageous in each particular fight, often surprising opponents who based their game plan on Quillin's previous fight, and he also possess an incredible chin that allows him to walk through punches.

In his last two fights, Quillin has recorded an amazing 10 knockdowns, four against Guerrero and six more last October when he ripped the WBO belt from previously unbeaten defending champion Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (27-0).

"And one other knockdown in my fight before that (N'Jikam)," Quillin noted, "against Winky (Wright), making it 11 knockdowns in my last three fights. "I never want to lose and just work hard to win every fight. I challenge myself in training camp for every fight and I have great trainers - Eric Brown (boxing), Brad Bose (strength and conditioning) and Robert Garcia (nutritionist).  I'm improving every fight.  I've gained valuable experience, become more confident since becoming world champion, and feel very comfortable in the ring.  In my last fight, I showed improvement in ring generalship, composure, and even my interviewing skills.  I'm becoming the full package."

It's Chocolate Time!

Shiming vs. Valenzuela Saturday, April 6th Venetian Macao Resort Hotel Macau, China

U.S. boxing fans will be able to witness the premiere of world championship boxing in Macau with ZOU SHIMING:  Fists of Gold, featuring two world title fights and the professional debut of the Peoples Republic of China's  two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and three-time World Amateur Champion Zou Shiming.  This brilliant event will be televised to the U.S. on SATURDAY, APRIL 6, beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO2.  Calling the action from ringside from the CotaiArena™, The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel will be broadcasting icons Tim Ryan and Larry Merchant and two-time heavyweight champion Big George Foreman.

The telecast will also feature two-time World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior lightweight champion ROMAN "Rocky" MARTINEZ defending his title against undefeated No. 1 contender DIEGO MAGDALENO and World Boxing Association (WBA)/WBO flyweight champion BRIAN "Hawaiian Punch" VILORIA defending his unified titles against Top-10- contender JUAN FRANCISCO ESTRADA.

"We are delighted that HBO recognizes as we do the historic nature of the Macau event and is making it available on a same-day basis to its subscribers on HBO 2," said Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum.

TODD DUBOEF, president of Top Rank, added:  "When introducing a new product to the biggest market in the world, we are thrilled that the biggest brands associated with boxing joins us. HBO is the gold standard for the sport and we are honored to have their support and commitment to expanding the boxing brand."

"This is an exciting boxing initiative and we're delighted to be the U.S. television home for this international event," said Kery Davis, senior vice president, programming, HBO Sports.

Shiming, who is currently training with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, Calif., will make his pro debut against Eleazar Valenzuela (2-1-2, 1 KO), of Gusave, Sinaloa, México, in a four-round flyweight bout . One of the most popular Olympic athletes in the People's Republic of China, Shiming is the world's greatest amateur light flyweight, capturing gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. In the 2005, 2007, and 2011 World Amateur Championships, Shiming also brought home gold medals, making him his nation’s first boxing gold medalist in the World Amateur Championships and the Olympics.  He became his nation’s first Olympic medalist in boxing when he earned bronze in 2004.  Known for his extraordinary speed and superb footwork, thanks to years of martial-arts training, many of Shiming's opponents complain that they cannot keep up with him, much less see his punches coming. He has stated that his heroes are Muhammad Ali and Jackie Chan.

Martinez (26-1-2, 16 KOs), from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, captured his first world title in 2009, knockiing out defending champion Nicky Cook out in the fourth round in front of Cook's countrymen in Manchester, England.  Martinez successfully defended the title twice -- both by knockout -- during his one-year reign before losing it via a 12-round decision to Ricky Burns.  He regained the title last September, winning a gritty split decision over top-rated contender Miguel Beltran, Jr.  Martinez retained his title on January 19, surviving a challenge from Juan Burgos which was judged Draw.

MAGDALENO (23-0, 9 KOs), of Las Vegas, Nev., enters this fight having won six of his last eight fights by way of knockout.  He captured the vacant NABF super featherweight title in 2011 by knocking out Marcos Leonardo in the fifth round and successfully defended that title five times during his title reign, which lasted through 2012, against top contenders who had a combined record of 137-31-5 when he fought them, en route to his No. 1 contender position.

VILORIA (32-3, 19 KOs), a native Filipino who hails from of Waipahu, HI, is a two-division, three time world champion. The former U.S. Olympian captured his first world title, the World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight crown, in 2005, knocking out defending champion Eric Ortiz in the first round.  He held the title for nearly one year before losing it Omar Nino.  He earned his second world title in 2009, knocking out International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior flyweight champion Ulises Solis in the 11th round.  After losing that title to Carlos Tamara the following year Viloria moved up to the flyweight division. He captured the WBO world title in 2011, upending defending champion Julio Miranda via a unanimous decision.  After two successful defenses of his crown -- both by knockout -- Viloria unified the flyweight titles last November 17, knocking out WBA champion Hernan Marquez in the 10th round.  Viloria enters this fight riding a three-year winning streak.

Estrada (22-2, 17 KOs), of Hermosillo, México, returns to the ring for his second straight world title shot.  A natural flyweight, Estrada dropped down to challenge undefeated WBA light flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez last November 17, losing  a unanimous decision.  Now back at his natural fighting shape, Estrada will be looking to bring the flyweight world championship belts back to México.

MANNY PACQUIAO CONFERENCE CALL TRANSCRIPT ALONG WITH TRAINER FREDDIE ROACH AND HALL OF FAME PROMOTER BOB ARUM

MANNY PACQUIAO: Good morning everybody. Training is good and we are getting ready for the fight.

FREDDIE ROACH: We had a really great training camp the first 3 weeks in Baguiao – very successful – and the last 3 weeks here in LA has been great. Manny’s focus is the best I have ever seen. We are going against a tough opponent, a tough undefeated opponent in Bradley. I have watched a lot of tapes on him and have seen a lot of holes in his defense and we are going to take advantage of them.

Is Bradley’s style – leading with his head – a concern to you?

FREDDIE ROACH: Yes, Bradley does come in head first. We have been working on how to nullify that. We have a lefty fighting against a righty. The two heads may clash, that could happen and it’s something we have to be aware of and something we will be prepared for.

What is your take on the way you last fight with Marquez happened?

MANNY PACQUIAO: The fight was not that hard for me but I was having some family problems. I was in 100% physical condition for that fight against Marquez but I did have some family issues that I had to deal with. I also underestimated him.

FREDDIE ROACH: Marquez is always going to give Manny troubles. He is a very good boxer and very smart. We had a great training camp going into that fight but on the last week everything fell apart. The personal problems affected the fight and I don’t think Manny will let that happen again. All of the distractions around him caused him to fight poorly. He is very focused for this fight.

What has been the key to your success in moving up all these weight classes?

MANNY PACQUIAO: The fights are all different. It is not easy to move up in weight but I try my best. I have to work very hard to build up my strength and gain weight. I have to build up my stamina to maintain the added weight while preserving my speed and movement.

FREDDIE ROACH: That’s where the bigger challenges were – the bigger fights. We do have to feed Manny more than 5 protein shakes a day to keep the weight on. He performed very well in those weight classes. Moving up in weight classes was necessary because that’s where the challenges were. We needed to do that to be where he is today. Manny did well and we did it the right way with Alex Ariza with the diet and the protein shakes and it worked out well for all of us.

FACT: When Manny moved from lightweight to welterweight he was taking in up to 8,000 calories a day.

Could you elaborate on Manny’s focus for this fight? FREDDIE ROACH: Yes, his focus is very good. We don’t have days where he comes in tired a so forth because he has no nightlife whatsoever, besides the bible study. He is very focused on the fight. He and God are very close right now and he is just a better athlete – with no distractions – yes.

Were you concerned that the same-sex marriage comments or non-comments would be a distraction?

FREDDIE ROACH: The thing is everyone has an opinion in life and we are all entitled to our opinions, but I see no problem whatsoever. TMZ was outside he gym for a couple of days and we pacified them and that was it.

Do you feel you need to match numbers with Mayweather?

BOB ARUM: We aim to get the biggest possible numbers that we can get. We operate a completely different model from Floyd’s model and whatever numbers he allegedly reached or didn’t reach is really not relevant to us. It varies from fight to fight. The Marquez numbers, from the Manny fight in November, are certainly much greater than Mayweather’s numbers with Ortiz. You also have to realize that Mayweather was fighting one of our great fighters, Miguel Cotto, who is the number 3 PPV attraction, who has gotten great numbers on his own. So you have to factor all of that in.

Did you expect the firestorm over the same-sex marriage statement you made?

MANNY PACQUIAO: Did I know that my answer on legalizing same-sex marriage would create controversy? Yes. It’s a controversial issue. The reporter asked me about my stance on it and I answered his question. I am against legalizing same-sex marriage. That was all I said.

Will your commitment to religion reflect on your fighting in the ring?

MANNY PACQUIAO: When I committed my life to the lord I gave up many things that were not in keeping with what the Bible teaches. Boxing is a job and I do not look at it as anything more than that. It will not affect my job.

FREDDIE ROACH: No, Manny Pacquiao is fired up and ready to go. He is motivated. We have had great workouts and sparring sessions. We had four new sparring partners that came in for this camp. Everything is right where it is supposed to be.

BOB ARUM: From somebody who has visited the training camp a few times, the difference in Manny’s face is so apparent. He’s not as tired as he was and he’s not as worn as he was. There is a glow in his face. I think this religious awakening has been all good on his part. I am a little prejudiced because I am religious myself but I believe when young athletes find religion it will greatly enhance their careers.

Do you think we will see Pacquiao vs. Marquez IV?

BOB ARUM: Everything is on the table. Manny has this fight against Bradley. It’s a tough fight, and after the fight, as we always do, we’ll confer and decide on who the opponent will be and when the fight will take place. I haven’t discussed this with Manny because I never discuss future fights with a fight coming up. We’ll have plenty of time to discuss that and we also have a trip coming up with his family to Israel and we can discuss it then.

What aspect have you been working on to improve?

MANNY PACQUIAO: We work hard and we train hard every day to make sure we have a good fight for the fans on June 9.

FREDDIE ROACH: I have been watching Bradley a lot and he doesn’t rely very much on counter-punching. He is very offensive. He comes to fight which will make it a good fight for everybody. We have the game plan set after watching many, many tapes of Bradley. Manny should have a very good fight on June 9.

As a Congressman, do you come across trash talking?

MANNY PACQUIAO: I do not trash talk in boxing or in politics. I ignore trash talking directed at me. I don’t find it productive.

Are you the toughest public servant on the planet?

FREDDIE ROACH: That’s a stupid question.

MANNY PACQUIAO: It is hard to compare myself to other people.

What does Bradley do particularly well?

FREDDIE ROACH: He comes forward and is very aggressive. He is a well-conditioned athlete and we know we are in for a tough fight. Bradley is a good opponent.

Have you fought anyone strong like him before?

FREDDIE ROACH: No, because he is very strong and very muscular up top. I don’t think we have fought anybody that muscular. We have fought bigger ands stronger people, like Margarito and so forth. We have fought strong guys like him before, yes.

MANNY PACQUIAO: I agree with Freddie.

Do you feel Bradley will be in front of Manny?

FREDDIE ROACH: Yes, he will try to fight Manny. He will try to prove he is the better athlete – the better-conditioned athlete. We have a mover in camp so we are prepared if Bradley decides to move around, so we are prepared for anything he brings. It is my job to figure out what he may do differently. We make adjustments to prepare Manny for whatever may come. He’s ready for a boxer and I’m covering all my bases.

What is Manny’s advantage?

FREDDIE ROACH: Experience, speed and power. Experience is hard to deal with. Power will knock you out. Experience will make it a little easier for you.

MANNY PACQUIAO: Bradley is a different type of fighter and we don’t take this fight lightly. We have trained hard for Bradley because he is the type of fighter we cannot underestimate. Tim Bradley is undefeated and he is a champion.

MANNY PACQUIAO: I don’t know what Tim Bradley will bring in the ring on that night but we will be ready for whatever he brings. I know he will be 100% conditioned for the fight. We have practiced every kind of fight in the ring with four different sparring partners.

BOB ARUM: When you look at Manny’s opponents, the freshest guy he has fought will be Bradley. The others he has fought have been great names like Cotto, Margarito and De La Hoya and Hatton, but Bradley is not a great name but he is a great fighter and young and fresh. When you have a fresh fighter who has not taken a lot of punishment, he can be dangerous. The most important element with Bradley is his mind. He is a very, very determined young man. He is confident in his abilities and determined and that is a tremendous plus for any athlete. He feels as if his mind can take over. Some have doubts in their performance and it shows in up, whether it’s football, boxing or whatever.

It’s been a while since Manny has stopped anyone. Is he still the same fighter?

FREDDIE ROACH: I believe he is a better fighter now. He is more focused. If a knockout comes it will be a bonus. Bradley is a great fighter and he’ll be resilient, but I think you’ll see the best Manny Pacquiao yet.

MANNY PACQUIAO: I am doing my best in training. I stay focused and work hard to give a good fight.

MANNY PACQUIAO: My final words are I would like to invite everybody to watch my fight on June 9. It will be a good fight and there will be a lot of boxing in the ring. Thanks to everyone that was involved in the teleconference today and have a nice day.

BOB ARUM: I would like to see as many of you as possible in Indio on Thursday at Bradley’s workout. There are buses leaving from Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I’ll be there and am anxious to see him train and I know most of you are. I think it’s going to be a great fight – something special. Another thing that is special is the bible study that Manny participates in. Tonight in Manny’s apartment, we are going to shoot the bible study that many has been participating in and make it into a program which we will distribute. When an athlete has a religious experience it is a great thing and I want to show it to as many people as possible.

All-new editions of HBO’s all-access reality series 24/7 PACQUIAO/BRADLEY debut on Saturdays – May 26 (9:30-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) and June 2 (9:45-10:15 p.m. ET/PT) – while the finale debuts Friday, June 8 (8:00-8:30 p.m. ET/PT), the night before the welterweight title showdown.

Congressman Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs), boxing’s only eight-division world champion and the lone congressional representative from the Sarangani province in the Philippines, will be defending his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight championship crown against WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs), of Palm Springs, Calif., Saturday, June 9, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The Pacquiao-Bradley world championship fight will be produced and distributed Live by HBO Pay-Per-View®, beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT.

Juan Manuel Lopez-Orlando Salido Press Conference Quotes and Photos--SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, March 10, 2012‏

View Salido_Lopez_PC_120117_001a.JPG in slide show
World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion ORLANDO “Siri” SALIDO (37-11-2, 25 KOs), from Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, México, and former WBO featherweight champion JUAN MANUEL “Juanma” LOPEZ (31-1, 28 KOs), from Caguas, Puerto Rico, took part in a news conference on Tuesday to announce their World Featherweight Championship rematch.

The news conference was attended by San Juan Mayor JORGE SANTINI and took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, at the Museo de Vida Silvestre.

"I am very happy to have this very important show in our city,” Santini said. “We know how good Orlando Salido is but we are also are very confident that Juanma will be at his best and will regain his world championship."

Lopez-Salido II will take place Saturday, March 10, and will be televised live from Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, P.R. on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING®, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast.) The SHOWTIME telecast will open with undefeated No. 1 featherweight contender MIKEY GARCIA (27-0, 23 KOs), from Oxnard, Calif., risking his record and rating as well as his impending world title shot in a 10-round featherweight battle against an opponent to be announced.

Here are what the fighters had to say on Tuesday:

ORLANDO SALIDO:

"I expect a very different fight. I know he will be better then last time.

“But I don’t see him changing much. He might try in the beginning to fight in a different style but he will come back to his strengths. He is going to feel that he is the better and stronger man, and that he is not.

"I want to show that my first win was not a fluke. I came back to fight in Puerto Rico because he gave the opportunity to me to fight for a world championship here and I have never had any problem winning in an opponents’ home base."

JUANMA LOPEZ:

"I am very happy to have the opportunity to fight in the Roberto Clemente Coliseum where my idol Tito Trinidad had so many fights and this is a dream come true for me.

"I want to thank Salido for coming back to Puerto Rico and giving me this opportunity. I knew Salido was a tough fighter and he came prepared and beat me and I offered no excuses.

"This fight is the most Important of my career and I will train very hard to regain my title.

On changes he will make in this fight:

“We will make changes for this fight like all fights. But I don’t want to give too many specifics. Most importantly against Salido I have to be intelligent inside the ring.

“I don’t see him changing at all. He won his first fight with me and I’ve seen his last two fights before that. He’s going to fight the same style.

“You have to be smart and use your boxing skills. That is the only way to beat Salido. I learned that in our first fight.”

“The Big Brawl” IT'S TYSON TIME! Tyson Fury vs Dereck Chisora; Tyson set to unleash Fury on Chisora; Chisora-Fury Grudge Match Causes Security Fear‏

All of the smack talking is just about done and much more apparently is now on the line for Saturday’s United Kingdom showdown between British and Commonwealth heavyweight Champion Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora (14-0, 9 KOs) and undefeated challenger Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KOs) who headline “The Big Brawl: To Settle It All” Pay-per-View event live from Wembley Arena in London.

The scheduled Chisora-Fury 12-round main event has a much more serious world title shot implication for the winner as world champion Wladimir Klitschko recently told The Mirror, “There are tons of guys who could be my next challenger who are young and undefeated. Chisora and Fury are two such fighters and they are going to fight soon. They may not be big names yet in world terms, but I had not heard about David Haye two years ago.”

Fury is a 6’ 9” 260-pound Irishman born in Manchester, England. Named after “Iron” Mike Tyson, the World Boxing Council’s No 21-rated Fury is the cousin of world middleweight contender Andy Lee. In his last action this past February, the physically imposing 261-pound Fury knocked out previously unbeaten Narcelo Luiz Nascimento (13-0) in the fifth round. Other notable United Kingdom heavyweights defeated by Tyson include John McDermott and Scott Belshaw. Fury, only 22, has dedicated his fight against Chisora to the memory of former world heavyweight title challenger and European champion, Sir Henry Cooper.

Fury has served as Klitschko’s sparring partner. “He’s (Fury) tall and he’s almost seven feet,” Klitschko was quoted in The Mirror. “For his size he is flexible and he floats around the ring. He could be a real good boxer if he stays focused because he has talent. I don’t know what he’s like inside, but he definitely has a talent for boxing.”

Klitschko’s famed trainer, Hall of Famer Emanuel Steward, who has worked with Tyson, recently said in a radio interview (On The Ropes), “I think that unlike most people’s expectations, that Tyson Fury’s a very talented guy. We look at him as a big, oversized, very cocky kid. He’s only 22, but he has skills. Just the fact that both of these guys have the mindset of winners, I think this is going to be one of the heavyweight fights. This is the heavyweight fight I want to see myself. I know both guys personally. They’re both strong-willed guys much in the same make-up of Ali and Frazier.

“I think it’s going to be an extremely good fight. I know most people are picking Chisora and probably because of his more professional preparation. Tyson’s sheer physical size; he’s got a good chin, good stamina, and good punch output, also. I think those factors, and being at 6’ 9” compared to 6’ 1” is going to be a big problem for Dereck to overcome. I may be a little crazy, but I give a slight edge to Tyson in this fight, mainly because of the physical size and he has good stamina.”

Mick Hennessy, the promoter of the show as well as Fury’s, had invited Klitschko to attend Chisora-Fury as a special guest, prior to the recent passing of Wladimir’s father. “I want to express my condolences to the Klitschko brothers and their entire family,” Tyson said.

Zimbabwe-native Chisora (14-0, 9 KOs), rated No. 12 by the World Boxing Organization, fights out of London. He has twice had scheduled World Boxing Organization (“WBO”) title fights cancelled against champion Klitschko. “Del Boy” has twice stopped Sam Sexton, winner of “The Prizefighter Heavyweight Tournament,” as well as Mike Tyson-conqueror Danny Williams.

The 12-round co-feature showcases British Boxing Board of Control (“BBB of C”) Light Welterweight Champion Ashley “Treasure” Theophane in his first title defense against Welsh champion Jason “The Power” Cook.

International Boxing Federation No. 14-rated Theophane (29-4-1, 7 KOs) captured the BBB of C light welterweight championship in his last fight, winning a unanimous 12-round decision against Lenny Daws (21-1-2) this past February in London. Ashley’s most significant victories to date have been versus Delvin Rodriguez (DEC10) and former world champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley (DEC8).

A former International Boxing Organization and European lightweight champion, The 5’ 9” Cook (28-3-1, 14 KOs) has lost only three times in 32 pro fights, the last in 2009 to former World Boxing Association champion Gavin Rees by three-round decision in the semi-finals of “Prizefighter” tournament.

The third PPV fight features unbeaten British Southern Area Light Middleweight Champion Ryan Toms (8-0, 3 KOs) defending his title belt against “Phat” Pat McAleese (12-1-1, 2 KOs) in a 10-round bout.“The Big Brawl” PPV event is being distributed in the U.S. by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 3 PM/ET – 12 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, and Avail-TVN, for a suggested retail price of only $24.95. (Check with your PPV provider for same day replay times.) The telecast is also available in Canada to all Super Channel network subscribers.

CHISORA-FURY GRUDGE CLASH CAUSES SECURITY FEAR

Promoter Mick Hennessy has revealed that he has had a request to draft in extra security for tomorrow's weigh-in for Saturday night's British and Commonwealth heavyweight title clash between champion Dereck Chisora and challenger Tyson Fury.

Hennessy, who is staging the grudge clash at Wembley Arena, says the bad blood between the two fighters runs deep, to the point that the British Boxing Board of Control has banned the traditional face-off at the weigh-in, which takes place tomorrow at the Crown Moran Hotel in Cricklewood, London.

Hennessy said: "The war of words between Tyson and Chisora has had a real edge to it and we have a genuine grudge clash on our hands and the British Boxing Board of Control have put in place a number of restrictions for the weigh-in.

"It just shows you how much this fight means to both fighters. We know that Tyson has had some tough words for Chisora and Chisora has no time for Tyson so it should make for a great fight.

"We just don't want the fight starting at the weigh-in so there will be a lot of security to make sure the two fighters stay apart. But come fight time I'm convinced that there will only be one winner and that's Tyson.

"Chisora backed away from the press conference this week, he and his team refused to attend the press conference on Monday but come this Saturday there will be no hiding place in the ring."

ATLANTIC CITY TRILOGY… KENDALL HOLT & RICARDO TORRES TO SETTLE THE SCORE; HOLT WILL DEFEND WORLD JR. WELTERWEIGHT TITLE AT BOARDWALK HALL on DEC 13

ATLANTIC CITY TRILOGY… KENDALL HOLT & RICARDO TORRES TO SETTLE THE SCORE; HOLT WILL DEFEND WORLD JR. WELTERWEIGHT TITLE AT BOARDWALK HALL on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13

ATLANTIC CITY- The third fight in the trilogy of Kendall Holt (24-2, 13 KOs) vs. Ricardo Torres (32-2, 28 KOs) for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior Welterweight Championship will take place in the Ballroom at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on Saturday, December 13. Holt-Torres III will be promoted by Top Rank and hosted by Caesars Atlantic City.

Tickets for Holt-Torres, promoted by Top Rank and hosted by Caesars Atlantic City, are priced at $200, $100 and $50 and can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-736-1420, or at any Ticketmaster outlet nationwide. Tickets can also be purchased at the Boardwalk Hall box office. Doors will open at 8:00 pm and the main event is scheduled for 11:00 p.m.

Their first bout, on September 1, 2007 in Torres’ hometown of Barranquilla , Columbia , ended in a TKO in round eleven when Holt was knocked down near his corner. The raucous crowd had been throwing debris (beer, ice and water) into the ring and the slipping and sliding Holt was unable to regain his footing and was counted out by the referee. Holt, the Paterson , NJ native, was ahead on two of the judges scorecards at the time of the controversial stoppage.

The rematch took place on July 5, 2008 and the short and brutal bout lasted only sixty-one seconds. Holt was knocked down twice in the first thirty seconds. When Holt returned to his feet following the second knockdown, Torres moved in to finish him off when Holt landed a crushing overhand right that send Torres to his knee, held up only by the ropes. Torres, who suffered a concussion, took several minutes to return to his feet before being whisked off to a local hospital for further tests. Holt, the newly crowned champion, also headed to the hospital for stitches over his right eye.

Torres captured the vacant WBO title with a split decision over Mike Arnaoutis, another Atlantic City fan favorite, on November 18, 2006.

FORMER WORLD CHAMPION MARTIN CASTILLO RETIRES‏

,LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA- Former super flyweight world champion Martin "EL GALLO" Castillo has retired from boxing, it was announced today by his longtime manager Frank Espinoza.

"We've talked numerous times over the last couple of weeks and Martin has concluded that this is the end of the line for him. He didn't feel like himself during the Montiel fight and is happy with what he has accomplished in the sport. As he put it 'I owe everything to boxing and I don't want to fight anymore if I can't go at a world class level.' "

"The fans have always been very supportive of Martin and he wants to thank them for all their years of terrific support, it's meant so much to him. Bob Arum and the whole Top Rank family have been great to work with and he also wishes to thank them for the opportunities they gave him, said Espinoza.

Castillo was stopped by Fernando Montiel in the fourth round on February 16, 2008 in a super flyweight title bout in which Montiel was defending his World Boxing Organization belt.

The 31 year old Castillo, a native of Mexico City, finishes his career with a record of 33-2 with seventeen knockouts. He won the WBA super flyweight by defeating Alexander Munoz on December 3, 2004 in Laredo,Texas.

Long a popular fan favorite with boxing fans in the United States, Castillo also fought three times in Japan, his only loss there coming when his war with Nobuo Nashiro was stopped on cuts in the tenth round. Prior to that stoppage loss, Castillo had defended his title three times including a rematch with Munoz and a win over 1996 US Olympian Eric Morel.

Castillo made his pro debut on July 27, 1998 after an outstanding amateur career that featured his participating in the 1996 Olympics representing Mexico. He also defeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the amateur ranks.
