WORLD RANKED CRUISERWEIGHT B.J. FLORES VERY EXCITED ABOUT POSSIBLE TITLE OPPORTUNITY AGAINST #1 RATED AFOLABI‏

World Boxing Organization (WBO) number three ranked Cruiserweight B.J. Flores is looking for a world title shot and may have just received it….with a catch.

Flores (27-1-1, 17 KO’s) was extended an offer by K2 Promotions to face number-ranked Ola Afolabi (18-2-3, 8 KO’s) on March 3rd (25 DAYS AWAY) in Germany on the Wladimir Klitschko – Jean Marc Mormeck world Heavyweight title card.

Flores is ready and able to take on Afolabi but the timing seems to be a bit dubious.

“I want this fight badly and this is a GREAT opportunity for me to fight a big fight against a very good opponent. I look forward to facing you for the WBO interim world title!”

Flores is coming off his 3rd fight in the last 6 months, a very active schedule nowadays and wants at least 45 days, as the WBO rules state before this important fight is to take place.

“I want this fight!!!! I have been very active lately and ready for this type of challenge. But on twenty-six days notice? And having to go to GERMANY? This is a very serious fight for a very serious title and I demand my full 45 days of preparation, especially considering I just fought last Saturday. It’s only fair”

“I have worked very hard for this opportunity and combine that with a very very low 25,000 offer, it doesn’t seem like they really want this fight. This is a great chance for the Cruiserweight division to put on a great fight and they want to stick it on an undercard where no one will see it, for very low money with only 26 days notice and I would have to travel to Germany”, continued Flores

“I have just had three successful shows in Springfield, Missouri and with the cash streams we can generate, we could do the fight there and bring in a network TV station and both of us can not only make more money but it could re-energize the Cruiserweight division in the States. This fight deserves to be on TV and I deserve the regulated 45 day preparation time as I am the highest rated contender. Ola, I will pay you more money than you have offered me and we can definitely get American TV to cover this event. I demand the proper amount of time and I want everyone in America to see this fight as it is good for the division. Fighting on the undercard in Germany is with 25 days notice is not the right way to win a WORLD title”

“Have your promoter get in touch with Don King and we can set this up EASY!! I want this fight!"

Paul David Moves To London And Signs With Johnny Eames‏

Paul, who won the English title via a seventh round knockout of Tyrone Wright in December 2008, is without doubt one of the most talented, as well as the most avoided, Super Middleweights on the European circuit and is clearly hopeful that the move to London may present him some new opportunities.

View PaulDavidJohnnyEamesWEBREADY.jpg in slide show

“I’m really enjoying being part of the TRAD TKO team. I’ve been coming here for a few weeks now and it’s been going well.

I’ve been sparring the Cruisers here, you know Leon Williams and the other big guys here, Mitchell Balker, from the Netherlands, and Paul (Menay) Edwards.

There’s a lot of the bigger guys up here but I’m just using my elusive style to get my way around the ring. So it’s good and the training’s like hard and physical and I’m going to have no problem getting down to Super Middle.

I should have been fighting Patrick Mendy but there were no purse bids so Johnny is looking for other fights for me. I don’t care who or where I fight so hopefully it wont be too long before my next fight.

I’m just ready to do the business.”

Johnny Eames is more than a little aware of the problems of getting fights for such a feared fighter, but seems confident that he may be able to get Paul in contention to challenge the likes of current British and Commonwealth Champion George Groves, European Champion James DeGale, even if it means via a title eliminator against his close friend, former British Champion Paul Smith, as he made clear when he spoke earlier.

“I came across Paul a couple of years ago, I was offered him as an opponent for Tony Oakey, but I see him beat a fighter who became one of my fighters, Peter Haymer, so I didn’t fancy him as the right fighter for Tony at the time - he may have beat him, he may not, we’ll never know.

He’s a very awkward fighter, typical Ingles style, but better than a lot of Ingles fighters. He’s a Ryan Rhodes type of Ingles fighter who can do it. There’s a lot of the boys that come out of Sheffield that imitate the style but can’t perfect it, but Paul is certainly one of those that has perfected it and I can understand why so many fighters avoid fighting him.

He’s been sparring with Leon (Williams), Mitchell Balker and Paul Edwards amongst others and seeing him in sparring has changed my opinion on that style, I normally don’t like that style, it’s not the sort of style you want your fighters to fight against.

But he’s already got a little bit of us in there, so I really think we can really do something with this kid, if we are allowed to. There’s a lot of promoters out there that aren’t willing to put their top fighters in with Paul because they know he’ll beat them.

He’s English Champion and the usual follow on from being English Champion is the British title. I’d like to think he is more than capable of going in with Georgie Groves, James DeGale and a very good friend of mine Paul Smith.

That aside, it’s business and as Paul’s manager it’s my job to see that he gets the opportunity to go in with these kids and I will be doing everything I can to see that he does.”

Dominican Domination on ESPN Friday Night Fights; Joan “Baby Tyson” Guzman vs. Jesus Pabon

Undefeated former two-division world titlist Joan “Baby Tyson” Guzman (31-0-1, 18 KOs) returns to the public eye March 2nd against hardy southpaw Puerto Rican puncher Jesus Pabon (17-2, 11 KOs). The 35-year old Dominican-born Guzman headlines the ESPN2 Friday Night Fights 10-round main event as part of Acquinity Sport’s second show this season from The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood FL.

Guzman signed with the South Florida-based Acquinity Sports team last month in a move to kickstart a career once destined for superstardom. “Baby Tyson” blew through the super bantamweight and super lightweight divisions during the mid 2000’s, picking up the WBO world title in both divisions before setting his sights on lightweight.

However, the divisional run proved a bridge too far as his 2008 proposed bid for a unified lightweight title against former champ Nate Campbell deflated when Guzman showed up 3 ½ lbs heavy. His subsequent IBF title campaign against South African Ali Funeka resulted in a 2009 draw and a no-win split decision victory the following year. Because he’d weighed in a whopping 9 lbs overweight, the win didn’t earn him the lightweight belt, despite the ensuing discovery of a banned substance in Funeka’s system.

This is an intriguing crossroads fight for the still immensely-talented Guzman against a durable younger opponent which should give fans a true measure of Guzman’s rededication to the sport.

Hollywood’s own Ed “The Lion” Paredes (29-3-1, 19 KOs) showcases his prodigious skills in the 10-round co-main event against savvy Mexican veteran Cosme Rivera (34-14-3, 24 KOs). Paredes looks to shake off some “weighty” issues of his own as his scheduled headline bout on Acquinity’s debut show in January was downgraded when opponent Michael Lozada showed up 12 lbs too big.

Paredes scored a 3rd-round KO and expects more professionalism at the scales and between the ropes with Rivera.

US based Ghanaian boxer Osumanu Adama ready for IBF title fight against Geale

US based Ghanaian pugilist Osumanu Adamais ready and fired up to claim theInternational Boxing Federation (IBF) Middleweight belt come March 7 in Australia, he has exclusively told Ghana-based newspaper ALL SPORTSfrom his training base in the US.

The former Ghana Middleweight champion now fighting out of Joliet, Illinois takes on home favourite and champion David Geale at the Derwent Entertainment Centre, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia on Wednesday March 7.

It will be only the second defence for Geale who won the title back in May last year in Germany but one which the Australian (26-1, 15 KOs) has earmarked as his last on home soil and is seeking to impress his countrymen as well as set up bigger fights.

“Victory is imperative in order to set up a unification fight abroad in the middle of the year.

“Whilst his team negotiates with (WBC Diamond Middleweight champ) Sergio Martinez, (WBO Middleweight king) Dmitry Pirog and (WBA Super World Middleweight champion) Felix Sturm, Daniel (Geale) never looks past the fight ahead and remains totally focused on the next challenger,” read a statement on Geale nicknamed the Real Deal’s official website http://www.danielgeale.com.au.
But Adama nicknamed Machine Gun (20-2, 15 KOs) who has been training fervently under the guidance of his coach Joseph Awinongya, is as confident as ever.

The Ghanaian has vowed to defeat the Australian to finally fulfil the childhood dream of becoming a boxing world champion.

He told ALL SPORTS from his US base: “We are ready to go and nothing is stopping me from winning this title.
“I am in training camp, everything is perfect and we thank God for everything.

“I still need my support from Ghana as well as their prayers on 7th March which is Independence Day 6th March in Ghana.”

Serrano (17-0, 8 KOs), fighting out of Philadelphia, faces another stiff test in former New York State title-holder Abril (11-4-1, 6 KOs), of Rochester (NY). Alexander vs. Maidana Is Official: February 25th In St. Louis, Adrien Broner will also be fighting on the card.

DEVON ALEXANDER "THE GREAT", Former Two-Time World Champion

"These last few fights at 140 pounds were hard for me to make weight. I'm going to be stronger and faster at 147.

"Maidana is coming to tear my head off, but I'm going to be ready, 110%."

MARCOS "EL CHINO" MAIDANA, WBA Super Lightweight World Champion
"I'm excited to fight in the United States again. This is the Mecca of boxing.

"I dedicate my life to boxing and I'm taking this fight very seriously."

ADRIEN "THE PROBLEM" BRONER, WBO Junior Lightweight World Champion
"I've been coming to St. Louis since I was 8 and Devon is like a big brother to me. Fighting here is going to feel like I'm at home.

"He's a feather-fisted puncher in the featherweight division...not a good combination against me who punches like a middleweight.

"I don't play with my career, I take this seriously. You can play other sports, but not boxing and he's playing boxing. I box for real.

"February 25 there's going to be a 'Problem' and I will be victorious."

ELOY "PRINCE" PEREZ, Undefeated #1 Rated WBO Junior Lightweight Contender
"I want to thank Adrien for giving me a shot at 'The Problem.' I'm excited to fight for the world title.

"I have one message for Adrien, I'm not a bean burrito kind of guy, I'm a lasagna kind of guy."

DAVID ITSKOWITCH, COO of Golden Boy Promotions
"We have all the makings of a great fight in this main event. You have to have great fighters to make a great fight and we have two of the best in the game today.

"When fighters move up in weight class, most of them dip their feet in the pool, but these guys are diving right in by facing each other.

"The co-featured fight could possible steal the whole show on February 25. You don't see a lot of young, hungry fighters that are both undefeated fighting each other these days."

KEVIN CUNNINGHAM, Alexander's Trainer
"We're bringing a killer into Devon's hometown who is going to try and take him out, but that's the business of boxing. Devon is going to slay the killer on February 25."

SEBASTIAN CONTURSI, Maidana's Advisor
"We are happy to be here. It's been a long road with the cancelation of the Guerrero fight, so Marcos is very anxious to back in the ring. As usual, we will bring a war to St. Louis and, as everyone knows, Marcos always delivers!"

LEVI SMITH, Broner's Co-Trainer
"We came here to defend the title. We're going to show you fireworks and give Eloy a boxing lesson on February 25."

SAM GARCIA, Perez's Co-Trainer
"This is what we have worked towards for many years. This is a great sports city known for its world champions, so what better place to win our first world title than in St. Louis?"

"Alexander vs. Maidana," a 10 round welterweight fight taking place on Saturday, February 25 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with The Great Promotions and Universum Box Promotions and sponsored by AT&T and DeWalt Tools. Also featured will be Adrien Broner vs. Eloy Perez in a 12 round fight for Broner's WBO Junior Lightweight World Title which is presented in association with R&R Promotions.
