CANELO ALVAREZ, WBC Super Welterweight World Champion

"If  I want to win this fight, I have to move fast.  I have to watch out for Trout's left.  I've been studying his style and I can definitely adapt to it.  It's going to be tough, but I know I can beat him.  I trust I have what it takes to beat him.
"On Saturday, after defeating Trout, I will raise my hand and my belt and will be thinking of my brother.  That belt is his.
"I'm 100 percent ready for Trout.  He's a world-class boxer and an undefeated world champion.
"I'm thankful to the people of San Antonio.  They give me great motivation and they have an amazing energy.
"I'm very grateful and happy to be here.
"I'm maintaining weight.  I'm training hard.  I'm ready.
"I'm visualizing the fight.  I'm very focused and very determined.  Saturday is going to be my night.
"I'd like to thank my fans for their support.  I'm anxious to give them the show they want on Saturday.
"I'm excited to be part of all this.  I feel motivated that Oscar De La Hoya is part of all this.  It makes me happy to be part of his team.
"I'm the type of boxer that adapts well to other styles.
"When I step into the ring, the best of me comes out.
"I'm ready for Trout.  I'm ready to not let my fans down.  I'm ready to win."
AUSTIN "NO DOUBT" TROUT, WBA Super Welterweight World Champion
"We just want to up the intensity from the Miguel Cotto fight.  Even though they're not the same fighter, they have similar styles.  We want to up the intensity because Canelo is a bit more intense of a fighter than Miguel Cotto.
"He's an all-around fighter and he doesn't have many faults, but he's not as strong in some areas as others and we're going to exploit that.  We're preparing for the total package.
"Canelo's a world champion so he has to have what it takes.  They wouldn't have given him the belt otherwise.
"I'm ecstatic to be the focal point of over 38,000 people.  It's wonderful.  I really just can't wait to be in that atmosphere.
"If Canelo's not ready now, he's never going to be.  I'm excited to get in there and I'm glad he put his foot down to make this fight happen.
(On the public turnout at Wednesday's workout) "It's love.  I appreciate all the love.  They're the reason that boxing is going to thrive for ages.  It's one of the oldest sports and it's not dying anytime soon.  This is evidence of it right here.
"Anything is possible.  We've done things that people said couldn't be done.  I believe God does miracles everyday.  I'm not saying it's going to beat the man, but it can be done.  Impossible is a mind state and I don't have that type of mind state.
"My focus is to just be in shape.  We know he's going to bring it, so we want to make sure we can up the intensity when we need to.
"I don't think it's going to be difficult at all fighting in front of these fans.  It's the opponent that's going to make it difficult.  The crowd isn't going to make it harder or easier.  Canelo is going to make it harder.  So the crowd is not going to stray me or bother me one bit.
"My hometown is really divided being that it's a mostly Latin area, but we have a lot of support coming from Las Cruces.  Mexican blood is thick and it's hard to divide that.  They're the best fans to have.  If I could have them adopt me as their own champion, I'd be ecstatic because they're loyal and they fight for their guys.  My whole goal is to just take that love and push it onto me.
"Canelo is a champion and he wants to please his fans.  If his fans didn't say that he needed to fight me to prove that he's the true champion, then I don't think he would have done it.
"My strategy is to win by any means possible.  Whether it is brawling, boxing, moving, sticking there, staying there, whatever I need to do.  We're going to win.
"I want to be a legend in this game.  I don't want to be a one-hit wonder.
"I've been the underdog a lot.  What they think doesn't bother me.  I think 'underdog' is a mind state.  I'm here to win.  I'm here to win decisively.  What the odds say, what the people say, is not really going to affect what happens in the ring.
"I've prepared for it and the way I'm feeling right now in my heart and in my mind, that's what is going to affect the fight.
"The formula is the same (as against Miguel Cotto), but we know they're not the same fighter.  Canelo is in his prime, he's undefeated and he's not battle worn.  He's still got a lot of pop and life left in him.  Although the formula is the same, we have to up the intensity and we're not treating him as the same fighter.
"I fought his style of fighter my whole life being from Las Cruces, New Mexico, and fighting around the area.  I'm not sure if he's fought my style, though and we'll see the difference come Saturday."
ABNER COTTO, WBC FECARBOX Lightweight Champion
"First, I want to thank the public of San Antonio for being here.  Then, I want to thank Golden Boy Promotions for giving me this opportunity.  I'm so proud that I'm fighting at the Alamodome in front of over 30,000 people.  It's a true honor.
"It's truly an honor to fight on the same card as Canelo Alvarez and Austin Trout.  They're both great boxers.  It's not going to be easy for Canelo.  Trout is a tough fighter.  After all, he beat my cousin [future Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto].  To be honest, I don't know who's going to win.  I'm not going to make a prediction.
"When I have to fight, I'm always ready to fight at my best.
"I'll be representing my people from Puerto Rico on Saturday at the Alamodome and I won't let them down."
OMAR FIGUEROA JR.,
Undefeated Lightweight Contender
"I'm excited for the fight.  This is what I've been waiting for.  It's a good match-up featuring two undefeated fighters.  Neither of us has a blemish in our record.
"The main event is a super-mega fight, but I am going to do my best to give the fans their money's worth.
"Right now we are just focusing on the last couple of pounds.  The hard work is already done.  We left all of that in the gym.  We are waiting for the weigh-in and then the fight.
"I've been told that I'm going to have a lot of fans there.  I'm not too far from home and I think that's amazing.  Fans get to come support their hometown guy and also get to see a great main event.
"I'm excited to fight in front of such a big crowd.  I'm going with the flow and enjoying the experience."
JERMELL CHARLO, Top Super Welterweight Prospect
"I'm so happy to come back to San Antonio.  I really enjoy the boxing fans here.  They're so nice and excited about boxing in this city.
"I feel good.  I've been training hard.  I'm focused and I'm ready.
"This is my shot...my first real shot.  This is my chance to show not only San Antonio, but also the boxing world, what I'm made of and what I can do."
RAUL MARTINEZ, Top Bantamweight Prospect
"I'll be in my prime in a couple years.  I'm training very hard.  This fight means a lot to me.  It's my chance to move forward.
"I've had tough times, but boxing is a tough sport.
"I don't have a promoter right now, but I have a great trainer, Jesse James Leija.  He's truly an inspiration to me.
"It's an honor to be here working out at The Alamo.  I've been to workouts before, but none like this one.  This is awesome.  Being in front of my people is an amazing feeling.
"To me, if you go by what you believe and you put a lot of effort and pride into it, you will get something out of it.
"I look up to Jesse [James Leija].  He gives me energy and he motivates me.  When we're training, I want to show him what I have and what I'm made of.  He makes me want to punch harder."
OSCAR DE LA HOYA, President of Golden Boy Promotions
"This fight will truly show the world what Canelo is made of.  This is the opportunity he has needed to prove himself.
"I can't wait to be in that arena on Saturday night.  With almost 40,000 people in the Alamodome, it's going to be rocking
"It's just amazing the draw that Canelo is.  At 22 years old, his following is unlike anything I have seen in a long time.
"This is going to be a tough, tough fight.  Canelo has his work cut out for him.  Trout showed what he is made of when he fought Cotto and he is going to have to bring that intensity and more on Saturday night."
JESSE JAMES LEIJA, President of Leija Battah Promotions and Texas Boxing Legend
"We brought the big fight here and San Antonio responded.
"Not only was I proud to fight here every time I stepped into the ring to fight, I am proud as a promoter to bring big fights here now.
"This is such a tough fight.  I can't pick a winner.
"If the energy in the arena is anything like it was 20 years ago when Julio Cesar Chavez fought Pernell Whitaker, you will be able to feel the electricity through your body."

Donyil Livingston vs. Luis Arias on Mayweather-Guerrero undercard

The Mayweather-Guerrero undercard is continuing to take shape with the untelevised portion of the card getting a boost in the form of Californian based middleweight DonYil Livingston (8-2-1, 4KOs) squaring off against highly touted Mayweather promoted prospect Luis Arias (4-0, 3KOs). The 8 round contest will be fought at a catch weight of 165 lbs and both fighters will be looking to put on a show in front of a rambunctious crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Livingston will be looking to get back into the win column, although he will have a substantial advantage over Arias in the experience department. While Arias has competed on 3 different occasions this year, Livingston will be making his first appearance of 2013. However, Livingston is clearly the most significantly skilled opponent in Arias’ career and the step up will determine just how ready the 22 year old prospect really is at this point. Livingston will look to take advantage of that inexperience.

“The kid is on fire right now, but he’s never seen anyone like me and it’s going to be too much too soon. I give him credit for stepping up like this because most fighters try to pad their record at such an early stage. I’ll get the win and he’ll get the learning experience, I think that’s a fair trade,” Livingston said.

Livingston is competing against a Mayweather Promotions’ fighter on a card headlined by Floyd Mayweather Jr., but Mario Yagobi of Boxing 360, Livingston’s promoter, is ecstatic with the opportunity that is being presented to his fighter.

“DonYil gets the chance to perform on the undercard of the biggest event of the year and he has to take full advantage. With the expected atmosphere that night it is important to make the best effort at turning some heads, DonYil is capable of doing just that. He isn’t the kind of fighter who underestimates opponents, regardless of experience. He knows how good his opponent is and how important this fight is for turning his future aspirations into reality, he will use his ring experience to get the win and build some momentum,” Yagobi said.

GCP Signs Bantamweight Jundy Maraon THE NEWS RUN DOWN | DAVIDRADIO | APRIL 16, 2013 4:06 AM

Promoter Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions proudly announces the signing of Filipino bantamweight Jundy “Pretty Boy” Maraon (15-0-1, 12 KOs) to a promotional agreement.

28-year-old southpaw Maraon, from Blancia St. Molave, Zamboanga del Sur, is the current WBO Asia Pacific Bantamweight Champion. He made his US debut last September at the Chumash Casino with a TKO 3 over Ernie Marquez.

Maraon, who turned pro in 2003, is considered as one of his boxing-rich country’s brightest prospects in the bantamweight division, and is known for scoring highlight-reel knockouts. He is currently training in San Leandro, California, with head trainer Nonito Donaire Sr., father of boxing superstar Nonito Jr.

“I am very excited to be signed with Greg Cohen,” said Maraon. “I’m ready to fight for a world-championship and Greg Cohen is the man who can put it together for me.”

“We’re very happy to be signed with GCP. Jundy is a top talent and he’s ready to go,” said Maraon’s manager, Vinny Scolpino of VMS Management. “Nonito Donaire Sr. is his head trainer and GCP is now his promoter, so the whole team is in place to help him become a world champion in the near future.”

“Jundy is a fantastic knockout artist and he’ll be a force at 118 lbs.,” said his new promoter, Greg Cohen. “He’s ready to get his career going on US soil and I’m happy to be able to help guide him. He’s a strong Filipino southpaw with excellent power and tremendous skill.”

GOLOVKIN-MACKLIN WBA AND IBO MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY, JUNE 29, 2013 FOXWOODS RESORT CASINOon HBO®

The two highly-regarded middleweights will meet in their must-see showdown June 29th at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods ® Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.  The world title bout will be part of a HBO Boxing After Dark® triple-headerwith the first live televised bout beginning at 9:45 PM ET/PT.

GENNADY "GGG" GOLOVKIN (WBA & IBO Middleweight World Champion)
I am very happy to be here back in NYC and back on HBO.  We know that this is a very difficult fight for us, and one of the biggest fights that can be made in boxing right now.  Matthew is going to be the toughest challenge I have ever had.  He is just as big, fast and strong as me and we are expecting a very tough fight on June 29th
MATTHEW MACKLIN (WBC #3, WBA #11 and & IBF #14)
I am not the kind of person to turn down world-title shots so when this fight was offered to me, it was a no-brainer.  My lifelong dream has been to become world champion and now I have another shot at capturing the middleweight world title.
I take nothing away from GGG.  I think that he is a great champion.   On June 29ththough, he is fighting me and I am by far the biggest puncher that he has ever fought in his life. He won't be able to just walk in on me like he has been able to against some of his past opponents.
I want to be involved in the biggest and best fights that I can be in and that's exactly what we have in our upcoming title bout.  I think that GGG is going to have a great career and I have nothing bad to say about him as a fighter or a person, but he is going to lose on June 29th.
When Bernard Hopkins fought Felix Trinidad, everyone was picking Trinidad to walk right through Hopkins and knock him out.  That didn't happen though and Hopkins knocked him out, and that is exactly what is going to happen when we meet on June 29th. I am going to knock GGG out.
TOM LOEFFLER (Managing Director of K2 Promotions)
It is always nice being up here on the podium with people you honestly call friends.  This fight is one of the best in the middleweight division and the response that we have seen thus far throughout the media is a testament to that.
This fight wasn't an easy fight to make, we have all made a ton of sacrifices to make this happen.
I feel that we have the best middleweight in the world in GGG, but the only way to show that is to get those other so-called best middleweights to actually get into the ring and fight him. I have a harder time making a fight for GGG than I do for the Klitschko's.  That is why I give a lot of credit to Lou and Brian and Matthew for taking the fight.
LOU DIBELLA (President of DiBella Entertainment)
I am thrilled to be standing here to announce this fight. Style-wise this fight is a can't-miss. There are few other fights in the middleweight division and boxing that are as anticipated as this matchup.
Kudos go to Peter Nelson and everyone at HBO for making it known that HBO really wanted this fight.  They believe in the excellence and quality of this matchup.
I want to send a special thank you to Tom and everyone at K2.  We have both made a ton of sacrifices to make this fight possible because this is a fight that everyone wants to see.
I saw GGG fight in Monaco and when you simply demolish a world-class fighter (Nobuhiro Ishida) who has never been knocked out, you have to be impressed.
You saw in the Rosado fight with GGG that he will mix it up and rumble and Matthew is unquestionably the biggest and strongest fighter that he has ever fought.  Matthew is going to go right after him and that's what makes this a great fight.
PETER NELSON (Director of Programming HBO Sports)
All of us at HBO are happy that we were able to put this fight together. We have had a great string of fights recently and we expect to continue that string with this great fight on June 29th.  We don't see any loser in this event. We are expecting a spectacular performance by both GGG and Macklin.  It is a great privilege and we are very proud to have these two great fighters call HBO their home
BRIAN PETERS (Brian Peters Promotions/Macklin Manager)
We are delighted to be here and want to thank everyone involved in making this great opportunity a reality. Want to thank our promoter Lou DiBella, who is easily the most passionate and interesting promoter in the world.
Hopefully GGG and Matthew can show the tenacity that Peter Nelson of HBO showed in making this fight (room erupts in laughter).
Most middleweights are scared to walk down the street with GGG let alone fight him.  He is a helluva fighter, there is no doubt about that, but we are very confident in Matthew's ability and expect a great showing on June 29th.
DANIELLE CARPENTER (Executive Director, Advt. & Brand Foxwoods)
It is always a thrill for Foxwoods to host a world-class boxing event and the opportunity to team up with DiBella Entertainment, K2 Promotions and HBO Boxing further helps solidify Foxwoods Resort Casino as the premier venue for professional boxing on the East Coast.
The Golovkin-Macklin World Championship Bout is promoted by K2 Promotions and DiBella Entertainment, in association with Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Chad Dawson vs. Adonis Stevenson June 8th on HBO

Light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson, returning to the 175-pound division, will defend his title against knockout artist Adonis "Superman" Stevenson on June 8 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, promoter Yvon Michel announced at a news conference on Wednesday.

The fight will be Dawson's first since Sept. 8, when he dropped down to the 168-pound super middleweight division and was demolished by champion Andre Ward, who scored three knockdowns en route to a lopsided 10th-round knockout.

Dawson's light-heavyweight championship was not on the line against Ward and now he is back in his natural division to defend against Quebec's Stevenson, who gave up a shot at a super middleweight world title to move up one weight class and challenge Dawson.

"Adonis Stevenson's goal isn't to only become world champion," Michel said. "Adonis has everything needed to become a major international attraction in professional boxing, but to get there he needed the platform offered to him on June 8, fighting a crafty, dangerous opponent on a prestigious television network (HBO) for world title. The table is set for Adonis; his future is now in his fists of steel!"

Golden Boy Promotions Announces Second Boxing Series Event At The BB&T Center Set For Saturday, June 1 Featuring Braulio Santos vs. Derrick Wilson And Daquan Arnett vs. Irving Garcia On FOX Sports Networks, FOX Deportes And FUEL TV Special Guest Appearance by Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns

Golden Boy Promotions and Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the second Golden Boy Boxing Series event is set for Saturday, June 1 at the BB&T Center with a world class doubleheader featuring Puerto Rican knockout artist Braulio Santos facing tough prospect Derrick Wilson in a 10-round featherweight main event and a 10-round welterweight co-main event that pits unbeaten Floridian Daquan Arnett against Puerto Rican veteran Irving Garcia which will be televised on FOX Sports Net, FOX Deportes and FUEL TV.

The event will also feature a special guest appearance by former World Champion Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns.
Santos vs. Wilson is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the first bell rings at 8 p.m.  The FOX Sports Networks and FOX Deportes bi-lingual simulcast will air live at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.  FUEL TV will rebroadcast the fight on Sunday, June 30 at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT.
23-year-old featherweight sensation Braulio Santos (10-0, 9 KO's) has drawn comparisons to several Puerto Rican greats from the past thanks to his fast and heavy hands that have seen him knockout nine of his 10 professional opponents with six falling in the first round.  Fresh off of a 57 second knockout over 7-1 Kevin Hoskins in March, Santos will look for another quick finish in his third bout of 2013 on June 1.
A gutsy competitor who always shows up to fight, Fort Myers, Florida's Derrick Wilson (9-4-2, 3 KO's) hopes to snap a two-bout losing streak when he takes on Santos in his home state this June.  Best remembered for his first round knockout over then unbeaten Charles Huerta in 2009, the 24-year-old will look to recapture that form and expects to be at his best with home state fans in his corner against the highly-regarded Santos.
A 2009 Junior Olympic national champion, 20-year-old Daquan Arnett (10-0, 6 KO's) of Winter Park, Fla. has been equally dazzling as a professional with his speed and power leaving opponents searching for answers that never arrive.  In his last two fights, Arnett has tarnished the unbeaten records of Jeremiah Wiggins (TKO 4) and Brandon Quarles (W 8) and he plans on defeating the veteran Garcia on June 1.
Hailing from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, Irving Garcia (17-8-3, 8 KO's) is a battle-tested warrior who has traded leather with Ishe Smith, Mike Jones, Luis Abregu and Said Ouali over the course of his nearly 15-year career.  Geared up to show rising star Arnett a thing or two this June, the 34-year-old can inject new life into his career with a win over the highly-touted prospect.

Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham Backs Protégé Marianne Marston To Win On 27th April In London

Ahead of his upcoming IBF Heavyweight Title Eliminator, against Tyson Fury, at Madison Square Gardens this coming Saturday, the 20th April, former two time Cruiserweight Champion of the World Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham took a little time off from his final preparations, to send a message of support across the Atlantic to former ‘Team Cunningham’ boxer Marianne Marston, who will be fighting Latvian Aleksandra Jasjukevica at York Hall in London one week later on Saturday 27th April.

Even though it is just a few days away from what many perceive to be the hardest fight of his career, Cunningham, who was once described by Bad Left Hook Magazine’s Scott Christ as ‘The World’s Nicest Man’, once again proved just what a genuinely nice guy he is, by contacting his former charge, British Featherweight Marianne Marston, and wishing her every success for her upcoming fight.

Marston, who now resides back in London and is trained by Barry Smith at the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym in Canning Town, was invited to become part of Team Cunningham following her move to The James Shuler Memorial Gym in West Philadelphia, after her original ‘home’ gym, Smokin’ Joe Frazier’s Gym in North Philadelphia, closed in March 2008.

Under Cunningham’s tutelage Marston was set to debut in South Philadelphia in May 2009, however following her return to the UK in February of that year, to arrange her P1 Professional Athlete visa, things went sour for the ‘Golden Girl’ after the US Embassy refused her the visa, even though there had been no problems with her living in America, whilst training and preparing for her planned professional debut.

Following his call of support, Cunningham briefly said of his former charge.

"It's great to see Marianne finally getting her pro debut, she has been training hard for years and this is a long time coming!"

Before adding, “I know she will be victorious, I only wish I could attend to cheer her on in person."

Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham versus Tyson Fury takes place at Madison Square Gardens on Saturday 20th April 2013 and will be broadcast live by NBC at 4pm EST in America and Channel 5 at 9.30pm in the United Kingdom.

Just one week later, on the 27th April 2013, Marianne Marston versus Aleksandra Jasjukevica features on the undercard of Dean ‘Irish Lightning’ Byrne - Jay ‘IOW Assassin’ Morris International Masters Welterweight Championship clash which headlines Dave Murphy’s Thunderdrome Promotions ‘Thunder & Lightning’ event at York Hall, Bethnal Green in London.
