BROOKLYN IS IN THE HOUSE!
DANNY JACOBS, LUIS COLLAZO, BOYD MELSON
AND ZACHARY OCHOA STACK
BARCLAYS CENTER UNDERCARD

THE BRONX' EDDIE GOMEZ AND STATEN ISLAND'S
MARCUS BROWNE ALSO IN ACTION TONIGHT

Representing four of New York City's five boroughs, top talents from the Big Apple will descend on Brooklyn's Barclays Center tonight to engage in exciting bouts leading up to the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast featuring Unified Super Lightweight World Champion Danny Garcia defending against former Two-Division World Champion Zab Judah and WBO Middleweight World Champion Peter Quillin meeting top middleweight contender Fernando Guerrero.
Fighters also in action this weekend will be Brooklyn's Danny JacobsLuis CollazoBoyd Melson and Zachary Ochoa, the Bronx' Eddie Gomez and Staten Island's OlympianMarcus Browne
Heading up this New York-centric undercard will be an eight-round middleweight bout between Danny Jacobs (24-1, 21 KO's) and Keenan Collins (15-7-3, 10 KO's). A former world title challenger, Jacobs defeated his biggest foe when he recently conquered cancer. Now back in the ring with two knockout wins under his belt, Jacobs will meet the stiffest test of his comeback in Collins. Born in Brooklyn but now living in York, Pennsylvania, the 36-year-old Collins is unbeaten in his last three bouts, so Jacobs needs to be ready for wily Collins.
Former world welterweight champion Luis Collazo (32-5, 16 KO's) made his own return to the ring after a year away last October during Barclays Center inaugural fight night with an exciting win over Steve Upsher Chambers. In an eight-round bout, the 32-year-old Collazo will look to make it two straight wins when he faces fellow veteran Miguel Callist (27-8-1, 18 KO's), a Panamanian southpaw who has won five of his last seven fights.
Twenty-year-old Eddie Gomez (13-0, 9 KO's) didn't stay long the last time he was in Barclays Center, needing just 77 seconds to dispatch Javier Gomez on March 9. The skilled and powerful junior middleweight will be seeking a similar result when he meets up with Ibarra, Ecuador's Luis "Morochito" Hernandez (21-4, 14 KO's) in an eight-round battle.
In a six-round super middleweight bout, popular local prospect Boyd Melson (9-1-1, 3 KO's) hopes to deliver another fight to remember for New York fans when he takes on Puerto Rico's Edgar Perez (5-3, 2 KO's). As is always the case when he fights, Melson will be donating his entire purse to spinal cord injury research.
2012 U.S. Olympian Marcus Browne (3-0, 3 KO's) has been dazzling in his brief pro career, and if he has it his way, he will make it four for four in his four-round light heavyweight matchup against Philadelphia's Taneal Goyco (4-5-1, 2 KO's).
Rising Brooklyn star Zachary Ochoa (3-0, 3 KO's) will make his Barclays Center debut when he meets Prichard, Alabama's Calvin Smith (2-2) in a scheduled four-round super lightweight bout.
Rounding out an outstanding undercard card will be a bantamweight battle between Philadelphia's Miguel Cartagena (5-0, 3 KO's) and Chicago's Angel Carvajal (2-0) and a super middleweight matchup pitting Temple Hills, Maryland's D'Mitrius Ballard (1-0, 1 KO) against Baton Rouge, Louisiana's Marcus Clay (2-5). Both bouts are slated for four rounds.

ZAB JUDAH & APRIL 27 UNDERCARD FIGHTERS MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES

Former Two-Division World Champion Zab "Super" Judahworked out for the media on Tuesday in preparation for his fight against Unified Super Lightweight W orld Champion Danny Garcia this Saturday, April 27, live on SHOWTIME (9 p.m. ET/PT) from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Joining Judah at Judah Brothers Boxing Gym in Brooklyn on Thursday were top middleweight contender Danny Jacobs (24-1, 21 KO's), of Brooklyn and 2012 U.S. Olympian Marcus Browne (3-0, 3 KO's), of Staten Island, both of whom will be featured in non-televised undercard bouts.
One of New York's most accomplished boxers of all time, Brooklyn's Judah (42-7, 29 KO's) has faced some of the biggest names in boxing including Floyd MayweatherMiguel Cotto and Cory Spinks.  The southpaw will look to dethrone the defending champ with his signature blazing speed and one-punch knockout power in his hometown of Brooklyn.
Philadelphia's Danny "Swift" Garcia (25-0, 16 KO's) was boxing's breakout star of 2012, registering two convincing and impressive victories over legendary Mexican Erik Morales and a stunning fourth round knockout win over British superstar former Unified Super Lightweight World Champion Amir "King" Khan
Immediately following Saturday's SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast will be a same-day-delayed telecast of SHOWTIME Boxing: Special Edition featuring Khan's first fight in England in nearly two years against former World Champion Julio "The Kidd" Diaz. Khan (27-3, 19 KO's), of Bolton, England, will face Diaz (40-7-1, 29 KO's), of Coachella, Calif., in a 12-round 143-pound catch-weight bout.
Here's what Judah, Jacobs and Browne had to say on Tuesday:
ZAB JUDAH, Former Two-Division World Champion
"First and foremost the most important thing is Saturday night.  It's not just about winning. This is New York.  This is Brooklyn.  New York fans are very tough.  They don't want you to just win by one point.  They want to see you really win.
How much did the fight postponement affect him: "Actually I think it was a blessing in disguise.  God is the best planner of everybody.  We think that we have plans, but apparently he plans better than us. I took training camp very seriously from November all the way up until now.  I think the extra preparation is the icing on the cake.
On defeating Danny Garcia to silence Angel Garcia: "It's called killing two birds with one stone.  Angel Garcia's a trainer.  He's a father.  He's the older man.  I respect my elders. At the same time, I can't get in the ring and fight Angel Garcia. What do I do? I fight.  I knock people out.  I can't do that with Angel.  I am going to knock Danny Garcia out and watch Angel come in there and pick him up.
On having his relationship with his dad: "It's going great. My dad has a business here in New York City.  I live in Las Vegas.  I've got businesses in Las Vegas, so we had to split up.  He's still my dad.  He calls me.  He even Skyped during my [camp] workout.  It's all great.  We're Team Judah today.
How he grades himself going into the fight: "Mentally and physically, I give myself an A plus.  I feel very calm, very at ease, very comfortable in this environment.  Everything seems to be working out the way that it should work out.  We ready for it.
On Danny Garcia: "There's no excuses.  We don't want to hear any excuses. We gave him his two months to let his rib heal up. His rib, neck, thumb, back, elbow, toe, whatever he hurt.  It's all fixed up now in hopes that Saturday night we just get moving and put on a good fight.
"Saturday night, may the best man win."
DANNY JACOBS, Top Middleweight Contender
On fighting again at Barclays Center: "It feels good, a little bit more pressure is off of me now.  The first time around was kind of special, so I was a little nervous, but I feel good now.  I feel confident.  My opponent is a last minute replacement, but at the same time we're going to go in there and do our job.
On how he'll top his last performance at Barclays: "I'm just going to go in there and not even think about it.  I'm just going to do what I was trained to do.  I have a job and my job is to go in there and get the victory by any means necessary.
On how he feels going into the fight: "Physically, I feel amazing.  I was training for February 9, so when that fell out, I took a week, maybe two weeks off and then I got back into the gym.  I've been ready for about two months.
On his future after the fight: "I'm looking to step up [my level of opposition].  I feel good.  I feel like the rush is out. I feel like stepping up.  The only way to get experience is to step up.
On his son coming to the fight: "Oh he's definitely going to be there in the front row screaming, 'Go Daddy, go.'  He's my biggest fan and he loves boxing.  He's just a fan of the sport and I love it.
On his four-month layoff: "Mentally, it messes with you just a little bit.  Once you train so hard, you have an eight-week camp and then that fight is off, it's tough because you have time away from your family.  I'm a professional, so this comes with the territory and I know I have a job to do on Saturday night."
MARCUS BROWNE, 2012 U.S. Olympian
On his relationship with Danny Jacobs: "Danny is like a big brother to me.  I love Danny. Being in the gym with him and working right next to him means a lot.  He showed me the way. It's a beautiful thing."
On which fighter he's looking forward to seeing on Saturday night: "It's crazy, butthere's a whole bunch.  I've seen Danny Jacobs come up and watched him in the gym.  I came up in the gym watching Zab.  He's the first lefty I knew about when I got first got into boxing.  He was one of my favorite fighters. When I was coming up he [Zab] knocked out Spinks for the title.
"Don't forget about the people suffering from Hurricane Sandy. Just because it's not in the news, it doesn't mean people are not still homeless."
ABOUT "GARCIA VS. JUDAH":

Garcia vs. Judah, a 12-round bout for Garcia's Unified Super Lightweight World Championship, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and supported by Golden Boy Promotions sponsors Corona and AT&T.  In the co-featured attraction, WBO Middleweight World Champion Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin puts his title on the line against hard-hitting Fernando Guerrero in a 12-round fight.  The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast begins live at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). A Week in Will’s World Part 3‏

Dear Friends, Fans and Members of the Media,
Before I get into further detail about my training and fight with Otis Griffin, I must address the horrific event that took place in an elementary school in Connecticut. The Sandy Hook tragedy is something incomprehensible. Thinking that a school is a safe place is now a doubt in so many people's minds. With my wife as a teacher, I get chills thinking about what the Sandy Hook staff and students went through that day.

I just want to let the community, school and relatives of the victims know that my heart and prayers goes out to them. Fighting on Wednesday I will have the victims of Hurricane Sandy (which will receive some of the proceeds from Wednesday’s card) along with those who were part of the Sandy Hook tragedy in my thoughts and close to my heart.
As I write to you 48 hours before entering the ring to do my job, a sense of serenity cruises through me. Since my training has been intense and my corner is knowledgeable and strong, I know I can take this time to relax my mind and body. Sparring with Danny Jacobs, Curtis Stevens, Santandar Silgado, Seanie Monaghan and 2012 US Olympian Marcus Browne has kept me well prepared and on my toes. They all bring something different stylistically and each fighter has really helped me in camp. I really appreciate their willingness to assist me for this fight and I’ve also done the same for them since all of my sparring partners fought recently or have fights upcoming.
Some people may wonder if the wait time on fight night affects me, being that the main event fighters have to sit and wait longer than the other boxers competing that night. Although it may surprise you, my answer to that is no. This is due to how fights were scheduled during my extensive amateur career.
Fighting in a heavier class in the amateurs left me waiting often since the smaller guys got to compete first. At first, it was almost exhausting just being at the venue, being ready and having just to sit there and wait.  Now that I have adjusted both mentally and physically, I find the wait good time to clear my mind and indulge conversation with my cornermen. Staying relaxed also comes from the people I surround myself with. My head trainer Felipe Gomez, my strength and conditioning coach Mike Spiegel, my cut man Mike Rella and my beautiful wife Jessica, who seemingly everybody in boxing recognizes since she can be heard shouting instructions from the crowd, encompass my surroundings leading up to the opening bell. The same will take place as I approach my next bout.
On that note I want to thank you for following my fights, and hope to hear and see all of you this Wednesday night as I take on Otis Griffin at Roseland Ballroom.
Sincerely,
Will "Power" Rosinsky
16-2 (9 KO's)

Melson: “This is my Toughest Match Yet - Time To Earn It”‏

Although he didn’t start boxing until he was a Plebe in his Freshman Year at West Point, Captain Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson’s had a number of big fights.

A 2008 Olympic alternate selection, Melson battled future pro standouts Erislandy Lara, Danny Jacobs, DeAndre Latimore, Charles Hatley and Keith Thurman during his amateur career. The New York, NY based junior middleweight also competed in many of the United States’ and World's biggest tournaments however, he considers his next fight the most important to date.

On Wednesday evening at BB King Blues Club in Times Square, Melson, 8-0 (4 KO’s), will challenge fellow unbeaten New Yorker Delen “Sniper” Parsley in an eight round contest. At 6’3 with a huge wingspan, Parsley, a talented 24-year-old who’s been around the sport his entire life, has many physical advantages coming into the bout.

“Delen is one of the tallest and longest junior middleweights I’ve ever seen,” said Melson, an active Army Reserve officer and West Point grad. “His style will definitely present a challenge. My international experience as an amateur has allowed me the fortune of facing equally tall opponents in the past.”

To prepare for his first eight rounder, Melson made a few adjustments to his training regimen. The two most noticeable changes were in his decision to start camp a few weeks earlier and find a way to allow an already extremely overburdened daily schedule to create more space for more road work and additional strength training. Melson feels positive about how this preparation will pay off when the opening bell sounds.

“This is the kind of fight that can help either of us get to the next level. It's an excellent challenge for both of us and I am confident that my preparation and my soul's passion will both reveal themselves in the ring!”
